It's up to 23 and doesn't seem to make sense?

It's weird, some weeks it's over in an hour and other weeks it has taken until until evening. This one I think went on the longest. The last word was entered only about 2 hours ago. I hope they don't think it's pointless and stop having contests. :(

I know most of the US. Lived in Ann Arbor Mi for a couple of years as a teen while my dad was a GM partner. Then back to Baires to public college (back then up to par with MIT or University of Bologna in Italy) and then back for grad school to SF. Travelled too much, was about time I settled down ;)

SoCal weather reminds me of northern Argentina/south of Brazil. Humid, sticky and never really cold. While the beautiful south of the US is a wonderful weather. I hope you never come here, our weather is very much like SF but more humid. We also never get snow although it can get VERY cold. This is my favorite time of the year, days getting longer, sunnier, not much drier but more enjoyable!

Snow this time of year. Wow, that is crazy. The absolute earliest I remember seeing it in VA is Thanksgiving one year, and then only flurries.

Get your boots on Peek!

I always this it is so funny when people talk about putting their summer or winter clothes up. Yeah that does not happen here. Maybe you move them over to the side of the closet but you never know when you are going to need them. I have seen it snow in June and also worn flip flops in December.

At least you have seasons in CO, in South Texas it just gets less hot.

Christmas still doesn't feel right for me when it's 80+ outside and we are deep-frying turkey in the yard...

Send me some snow.

You can have mine. We had a dusting the other night. It was gone by the time I woke up, but I can see it on the mountain from my front porch. It won't be long. :( The holidays don't feel right without going to the beach on Christmas eve.

Com on down! I know it's not the same, but I live within minutes of the beach.

The last time it snowed here was in 2008 and it was nothing more than a bit on cars... All people were outside making snowmen (with that little snow? I laughed my head off). A winter doesn't go by without hearing people praying for snow. Unfortunately it's too humid for that, so it happens every 80 something years. So I can say I saw snow for my lifetime...
But I'll never forget my first snowstorm in Ann Arbor, and my school counselor teaching me some basic snow survival (true, Baires is a semitropical weather, but I don't live in a rain forest). I found it funny until I started going to school. Then I hated it!

Fortunately here we can have a 30 degree celsius amplitude. Where do you say you lived? I'd love that kind of weather.

The mountains have had snow on them for about a month and one of the ski resorts will open tomorrow. I could not imagine Christmas without snow. The years we so not have snow on the ground at Christmas feels weird. Even if we do not have snow for Halloween it seems funky. When I was growing up we always had to make sure that heavy jackets fit over our costumes since you just never knew, and then hope it didn't get to cold to go out trick or treating. Now the kids just can go to the mall if the weather is to bad. Usually starting in November it is time to make sure we have our pantry and extra freezer stocked up since that is about the time we can get snowed in. The longest we have been stuck has been about 4 days. Even then if we did not have the truck and the tractor it would have been days longer.

ETA:
In the arial views, the first is Mackay City, just south of Pioneer River as you can see. Mackay Harbour is just north of the river.

It's a lovely spot, but it's expensive and a bit like going back in time about 15 years.
