I just want to have the look and taste of a cigarette that isn't a piece of garbage

I have been smoking for 21 years and have tried all of the usual methods to quit, patches ,gums, etc. None of them quenched the physical addiction. A few weeks ago I bought a 21st century disposable from a gas station and it worked quite well. I figured I would buy a kit so I went to a smoke shop and bought a pure smoke kit that had 18mg instead of the 16 that the 21st did. What a piece of garbage, it doesn't taste good and doesn't stop the craving. So I guess my question would be witch one would be the most like a real smoke that will give me the most bang for my buck? I have been looking at the volt, or can I just buy the parts to put my own together?

I think it's safe to say that the more a PV (Personal Vaporizer - as opposed to, I suppose, an impersonal vaporizer) looks like a cigarette, the worse it performs (battery life, the ability to use attachments that will give you better flavor, more convenience (like less fiddling with cartridges and refilling thereof), and lack of variable voltage), which in my opinion is a critical part of achieving an optimum vape.

With that in mind, how important is it to you on a scale of 1-10 - with ten being of paramount importance - to have your PV look as much as possible like the things that are presently killing you?

If you can get past the look-alike thing, your vape will (IMO) be better, and (IMO) your chances of getting ciggies out of your life will improve.

I particularly like the $22 Joyetech eGo-C Twist 650mah (variable voltage eGo-class battery) fitted with a Vivi Nova tank/atomizer, which is what I'm vaping on right now.

The Volt is arguably the best of the look-alikes, and performs very well for what it is; a constant-voltage device with a relatively small battery. That said, the setup I'm using right now gives a better vape, and costs about the same, or less.

everyone wants one that looks like a cigarette at first... a month or two down the road you'll find yourself vaping moose antlers or bagpipes... volt, bloog.. v4l... etc...

maybe start with one of those... people seem to like them enough to stay with them or jump to a larger one...

I started with a V4L 808... then an ego... then I got into slightly bigger more powerful things... that was feb of 2010...

Now I am vaping a VPRLIFE turbo... about the size of a big cigar... 5 volts... great...

The only thing that I could add to what John D in CT said is that if you go with the setup he suggested but use a cartomizer and cone, people who have no idea what a PV is WILL confuse it for a cigar. I can't recall how many times I had to explain what it really was. Even though it becomes a pain in the ..., explaining it to people convinced some of them to switch off of analogs too!

My vote is the Volt. Personally I don't want anything that looks like a box nor a big cigar. Not very lady like..lol You will like the Volt. I use the 78 and their new V2 batteries. I would say get the sample packs and then you will be able to decide what you like. the new ce3's are wonderful and holds more eliquid and you can see when running low plus you get tons of vapor..

Welcome to the board..:)

If you do decide on the Volt there's also the 15% discount code on the entire order
Code: SIVOLT50
Cheers.

I have a long list of devices I want to buy, and the Volt is one of them. It is IMO beautifully designed and manufactured, works well, and is just crazy cool, especially the PCC ("Personal" - again with the "Personal" - Charging Case). That said, it is NOT what I recommend that anyone start out on unless they ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY MUST have something that remotely resembles the things that are presently killing them.

At the risk of pissing everyone off, I steadfastly recommend the varaiable voltage Joyetech eGo-C Twist 650mah - 2 or 3 of them - with TWO chargers in case one craps out (which I have had happen), as many Vivi Nova or Vivi minis as you can afford (one for each of five flavors is a great start), and a BUNCH of juice.

Pick a flavor from this post with over 7,500 recommendations, which I have not yet devoted the time to put into chart form:

And here it is, the video that everyone loves to hate: :)

THE EGO TWIST IS A GAME CHANGER - YouTube Grimm Green Twist Game changer

And as Will said - sure, get 5-10 2.0 ohm single coil cartomizers too. They're about $1.50 each. And a nice cone in a color that matches your PV just to dress things up a bit.

taste is objective, for me, the volt is a great e cig, however, Greensmoke absolute tobacco is the closest to real smoking but that only me (the battery is not that great btw and overpriced), I have both and am at a point of time that I don't always miss the taste of real cigarette, but when I do, I use Greensmoke. Stay vaping my friends :).

I have to agree with everyone, if it must look like a cigarette, Volt or Bloog are good choices...
They both now offer base starter kits so you can try them on the cheap. Volt has a value pack and bloog has a trial kit.
One battery, two cartomizers and a charger for $20. The cartomizers and chargers are interchangeable between the two so you could even buy one from each company to test them both before springing on a complete kit.
Better yet, just buy some blank cartomizers from them and start exploring the information on juices you'll find here on the ECF. Refilling cartomizers yourself is a lot less money than the prefilled ones are

I will agree with everything said here. If you can handle something larger, get an ego twist. The 650mah is $23 at altsmoke and the 1000 mah is $26.

If you want a look a like, get the volt from smokeless image. They are the best "mini" company out there. The 78mm battery lasts 3-4 hours and is 3.7v (higher voltage than a standard ego). The cartos last a long time, can be refilled several times and don't burn as easily. The Customer service is second to none and has fast shipping. They are reasonably priced with 2 battery starter kits from $45 and there is a 15% coupon. (much cheaper than the blu or 21st century). They even sell the X2 battery which is similar to a kgo. It allows you to step up to a larger battery, use ego juice delivery systems and all your "mini" cartos and clearos. Here is a video that demonstrates the volt. It also discusses everything you need to be successful no matter what system you use.
