Very confusing. In some pictures it's a Kissbox, in some a Yentl and in still others a Kissbox Yentl. It's a cig-a-like (or likes), not a box, and what is up with the name?

(Yentl)

ETA: I was looking for pictures with comparing the two. Obviously the differences are far too subtle for my little mind.

Searches for the meaning of "Yentl" come up with the film and play more than anything else. It appears to be a Yiddish female given name, roughly meaning "Aristocrat." Chalk it up to creative mistranslation I guess. How it got associated with "Kissbox" remains a mystery.

Such great memories!! My first M401, (still have the batteries, used the attys as 501 connectors for mods)
A while back there was a post from a noob at least a few times a week...
"I ordered a "FREE" E-Cig and now my credit card is getting hammered!!"

Still have a couple of boxes of CE-2 that I used with the syringe tank mods. Took a couple on vacation a few weeks ago and they still work just fine (properly loosened and wicks fluffed first). Have to dig out a couple of my "Pucks" they worked so well for so long for me.

Ahhh, Good times, good times...

I remember searching for SmokeStik website after seeing a picture of Leonardo DiCaprio with this electronic cigarette thingy.
Went back 2 days later and everything had changed. The U.S. division was moving so traffic was being sent to the Canadian one for a bit.

I still thank SmokeStik for choosing that time to change warehouses. It made me suspicious so I ended up doing more research and found ECF. I have no idea if their e-cigs are any good or not but pre-filled, tobacco-flavored cartridges would have been the wrong thing for me.

I started with an 801 (I had been smoking Virginia Slim 120s so the length didn't bother me.) Before I finished the crummy Chinese liquid that came with it, I found JuicyLiquid (anyone remember them?) It seemed so complicated to combine the two bottles the way they had it set up, but it tasted good.

So many of the vendors from back then are gone. :(

I remember dual coils were the rage when I started. Oh, wow, two coils! lol. And then there was the battle of who invented the J-tank and how others were copying it with their own cartomizer tanks. And my first vv mod was a black electrical box mod because I couldn't afford a Provari. lol. Luckily, I bypassed the cartridge blue foam filler stage. LOL.

Yea, I actually remember my first experience with anything other than a 3.7 volt ecig was buying a cheap 5v passthrough. I got it in the mail and plugged it into my comp and pulled my recliner from across the living room to it. I sat there and vaped it for the first time and though, OMG! My life changed at that very moment! ha! Darn, there weren't all these vv and vw mods cheap like nowadays.

I ordered my first ecig after walking around my house trying to not smoke for 5 days and sucking on an empty ball point pen cartridge with an old cig .... stuck in it. LOL. I thought, if I could just have something that mimics this setup, I could do it. So I went online and ordered a cigalike yuck system from a I'll take your money vendor. lol. Then I went and got a pack of smokes and said I will wait til my order arrives. lol. So yea, anything just about would have beat my ball point pen cartridge. ha! I was a literal mess after smoking 30 years. lol. And I'd tried everything.

Even though I've only been a member here for about a year and a half, I (along with a few coworkers) started vaping almost 4 years ago on a little 901 cig-a-like that we all bought from a gas station. The tobacco flavor was horrible, and the menthol was basically a barely tolerable mouthwash flavor of creme de menthe. We felt a sense of higher power being that we could "smoke" anywhere at work. Since then, I've watched it all grow through its stages. Even my coworkers and I came up with some crude ways of trying to make it better...including taping three of the those little cig-a-likes together for more vapor with shorter drags, adding different cooking extract flavorings (i.e. spearmint) to new cartos to change the flavor a bit, then adding clear tubing and cheesecloth to extend the cartos while adding some Johnson's Creek e-liquid, and other goofy stuff. But we came up with nothing that was working better than what kept rapidly (or seemed so at the time) hitting the market.

The good thing... Despite the growing pains over the years, I feel that we're now at the point, with both the gear and the liquids, where a person can take up vaping, and actually stop smoking MUCH easier than we could just a few short years ago. Despite having started vaping in 2009 and seriously cutting down on smoking, it wasn't until May 4th of 2012 that I could finally say I had stopped smoking (maybe an occasional one for old times sake here and there). I'm thankful for everything that myself and my buddies tried, I'm thankful for all of the contributions that everyone else has made, and I'm most definitely thankful for the people here at ECF that eagerly share their knowledge with everyone else in order to make vaping not only a viable option to quit smoking, but also a nice new hobby and lifestyle choice.

I remember when 98% of you who have posted here were newbies. I also remember when I had more time to post here. Other than that I don't remember anything as vaping causes memory loss!

I've only been into this fourteen months...

But I can remember when clearos didn't have replaceable wicks.
CE3. Ungh. Awesome at first, got me off real cigs, but, man.
The genuine Vivi Nova. That thing was beyond slathered in failure sauce. At least for me. All heads crapped out within a 24 hour period. Those were the dark times.
Five months of dripping MBV butterscotch straight into a 510 atty. My search for the "perfect atty" around that time. HAD to be genuine Joyetech. Usually 1.5 ohm or low res. I didn't fully understand VV back then. Near car accident changed all that.
First VV was a Kgo 650 VV battery. Busardo's "Kgo VV". I must have watched that video a million times.
Tube Mods were limited to (in my periphery) Lavatubes, Zmax's towards the end... Provari and Darwin were always there but elusive...
Box mods looked like cartoon bomb detonators...

Things have progressed quite a bit, I would say.

Trying out a DCT tank for the first time. I got it wrong and burnt through more cartos than I care to admit.

So why don't some of us old-timers reminisce a little bit about how it used to be....

--I remember when new members would be struggling constantly trying to find the path to a satisfying vape
--I remember when the 510 came on the scene, with a somewhat lower resistance atomizer, and new vapers started having increased success
--I remember when 510 cartridge mods were all the rage, as folks kept trying to find a good way to continue getting those consistently good vapes
--I remember when the KR808D came on the scene, and cartomizers started pushing new vaper success rates even higher
--I remember the ensuing 510 vs KR808D wars
--I remember the Boge Cartomizers for the 510 models that may well have turned the tide towards 510 models
--I remember when low-resistance (LR) atomizers came on the scene and the ability to vary your "power" became a reality
--I remember the FDA court case, and the formation of CASAA from members on this very forum
--I remember when CASAA started working closely with long-time harm-reduction advocates, thus giving long-time THR advocates new life and consumer backing
--I remember when the Chuck came out with custom graphics
--I remember the Chuck vs Silver Bullet wars
--I remember when the Reo Mods came out, and took dripping to a whole new level
--I remember when Egos came out and new vaper success started to skyrocket
--I remember the Buzz, which if I remember correctly, started the variable voltage revolution
--I remember when the Provari came out and started the variable voltage wars
--I remember when the Nhaler came out with the Darwin and started the variable wattage vs variable voltage wars

And I look at that the New Members sub-forum these days, and find very few struggling at first vape anymore.
Success, now, is nearly guaranteed.

That's progress.
:)
