Hello, I'm the engineer and manufacturer of the Apex Alpha. Time is tight but I will do my best to answer technical questions that come up.

First off, thank you everyone for the kind words. It's great to come up with something and have it be well received (even if it's only aesthetically at the moment).

So you can only use a 510 threaded atomizer, right? I use 801's but the Alpha won't work with an adapter, correct?

And it is either 3.7 volt or 6 volt? Any plans for 5 volt or variable volt? Thanks in advance. It's a nice looking PV.

I designed the apex Alpha around the 306 and 510 style atomizers. That said, any atomizer with the same threads as the 306 and 510 will work in the base units.

As for the RES, note that the atomizer is recessed inside the RES assembly. There are ports on inside, at the base of the RES assembly that align with the vents on the atomizer. My concern is that an adapter may position these ports too far apart, and therefore I would not recommend using an adapter. (that said, the Apex Alpha with RES will fire the atomizer. -but the RES will have reduced performance)

3.7 or 6v- correct

5v- unfortunately no

Variable voltage- stay tuned

Hope this helps-

Nate

If ordered with the RES, does the regular topcap come with it,ie can it be used without the RES?

You can order the base unit or kits that come with the atomizer interface and not the RES. However, if you order the RES it will not come with the atomizer interface. You can still use it without the RES attached, but it wont look very good. We set it up that way because once you have the RES attached, we don't see any reason to take it off. Taking the RES off and just using an atomizer by itself is kind of like buying a ferrari, taking out the engine and replacing it with a civic engine. The RES just makes it so much easier and convenient, and overall works better.

Question: Can you fill the RES by dripping directly into it, in lieu of filling through the atty? For instance, can you assemble the inner ceramic ring and top cap, fill with fluid and then screw the atty in, or does the ceramic cup need to seat first, add the atty, and finish with the top cap?

The safest and probably easiest way to fill the RES is through the atty. The other way to fill it is to take apart the RES, pull out the ceramic ring and drop the liquid directly onto it, then screw the RES back together. We discourage doing it this way for a couple reasons. 1. The ceramic ring is not as strong as the rest of the unit and should not be taken out of the RES more than it needs to be (for instance to clean it). 2. It is pretty messy. Because the liquid does not soak completely into the ceramic its very hard to get anywhere close to maximum fullness without getting eliquid all over the place. So to answer your question yes you can drip directly onto the ceramic ring, but in the end it will most likely take longer, make a huge mess, and will not be as full. It honestly only takes a couple minutes for the liquid to soak through the atty and into the RES.

Cool, thanks for the fast reply! BTW I think your kits and models are very fairly priced for the materials utilized...

Yes we wanted to offer the best ecig possible, but not at an impossible price. At first glance people think they are quite expensive, but for what you get its truly not expensive at all. And I like to keep throwing in for people to see is that it does carry a 10 year warranty. Hard to beat that.

TmeisT, when you say fill through the atty, do you mean the atty must be screwed into the unit while your dripping to refill the RES? Or, can you have the unit fully assembled, unscrew the atty, then drip into the hole to refill?

No the atty must be screwed into the unit. It soaks down through the atty and up into the RES. If you unscrewed the atty and dropped your liquid down into the hole it would just sit there and spill out.

Well, change of plans; I'm just gonna have to listen to another 5minute lecture from my wife..Just ordered the Ultramax w/RES :)

I'm not sure how those lectures turn out, but I'm pretty sure it will be worth it. :) Congrats on your purchase. I am positive you will love it.

Hi guys! Great mod, apparently! Will you deliver your mods to Russia?
Sorry for the Google translation...

Yes we will deliver to Russia. We are still working out the bugs on international shipping. We should have it resolved by the end of the day. I can send you a PM when it is up and running.

I may have missed this some where but about how much liquid does the ceramic hold, Im not much of a dripped and driping and driving in a 5 speed is a pain lol. Overall I really like the unit, Im curious, but well see wait ans see how curious

The ceramic in the ultralite will hold 1/2ml, in the ultra 1ml, and in the ultramax 2mls. It comes in very handy when driving, especially long distance.

A bit of feedback if I may; I have tried 510, 306, 901 and 801's. I really do not like 510. I broke out another atty just to try it as I WANT this mod. I really do not like them.
I will buy this in a heartbeat if you decide to do a 901 or 801 version. I do not mean to sound like a jerk, I mean this constructively. I want an Alpha, but I cannot deal with 510/306. 510 have poor flavor and 306's spit too much juice for my liking.
