I'm really digging this mod, but I really wish the UltraMax took 18650s instead of 17670s. I already have a bunch of 14500, 16340, and 18650 batteries and I really don't feel like buying more batteries. Having said that I might still pick up the Ultra 14500 version, but I still would love to see an 18650 version.

18650 should be a standard :)

Excellent! I'm glad you like it so far. From what I can tell you are the first one to receive it on the forum. Very interested in your impressions!

I can't wait either, took me a minute or two to 'understand' the different parts, but I'm ready to fill up the RES with the method #2. Not sure what juice I'd like to try first!:) Decisions, decisions!!

Your video's on the Innovapor forum are a great start for anyone wanting to see how the Apex Alpha works, especially like your second video with the clouds of vapor :)

Cheers and thank you! I'm a little camera shy so I resisted doing the videos until enough people asked, then I was stuck! Glad they helped. The second vid was of the Ultralite and Ultra, both running at 3V. The UltraMax at 6V is gnarly beast compared to those two!

damn alldayvape you got me jealous over here im patiently waiting for my ultramax to get here cant wait to try this thing out

hehe. All I will say it this point is that it works as advertised. The RES will take some time getting used to just like all the other feeding mods. But I'm really diggin this! I'm halfway into a vape coma.

Not really what you asked for, but here's a comparison with some other mods.

I would still like to see an UltraMax with res on compared to the other ones, in picture form. It would be nice to be able to see the size of them next to eachother since I got an impression of the size of the others from the video you posted.

Thanks!

Here you go!

Question N8, would you recommend using Method#1 to fill the RES or Method #2?

The important factor here is that the wick is bone dry when it arrives. My preferred method with a fresh wick is to prime directly by hand the first time. i.e. remove the wick and slowly spread fluid over the OD until it's saturated, then re-insert, and followed with 4-6 drops directly on the atomizer. This speeds up the first time.

After it's primed I leave it alone, and just refill through the atomizer.

One thing that can be done to expedite the filling of the wick is to drop fluid directly onto the atomizer and then BLOW into the atomizer. This will force the fluid out into the wick.

+1 This is like a drippers dream IMO. Since you can drip 10+ drops which the RES absorbs and then you can happily vape away!

Good job m8!:headbang:

Thanks! Glad you like it. I have always been a direct dripper and love that the Alpha RES is designed just to be filled by direct dripping. I always just use method #1 (from the user manual) to fill, just direct dripping down the drip-tip.

Cheers!

cappadoc, you are correct you will notice a price increase across the Apex product line. What we would have loved to do is be able to afford to give away some Alpha units for people to try out, unfortunately InnoVapor operates under very narrow margins. You'll notice how we offer a standing 20% discount to the forum, the largest standing, constant discount as far as I know.

The compromise was to offer the Alpha and accessories at cost for the first day. We avoided advertising that because you can imagine if we sold out of all the product at cost, we would be in trouble. We felt this would reward those who were willing to give it a try right out of the gate and get some product out there for people to test and use.

The pricing of the Apex line is now what it is, and what it will stay at.

I think if you take the following into consideration you will see what a value the Apex products are.
1) All of the Apex Alpha Kits are discounted 5% on the website (are "kit discount")
2) All Apex Kits ship for Free with USPS Priority Mail. And these are real kits, with a box, manual, accesories (including a Cape Cod Cleaning cloth etc.) So they ship in a box. Shipping costs us around $10, sometimes more. So it is a real value.
3) The forum coupon ECF20 takes another 20% off the price.

All together the forum folks get 25% off the kit with free priority shipping. Innovapor has a single goal. Deliver the best product we can at an outstanding value tot he forum community. You also get what you pay for, and the Apex Products make no sacrifice for quality. Every decision that went into making the devices was centered around building the highest quality product right here in the USA. I think you will find they are still an amazing deal for an extremely high quality product.

Cheers!

SH

Really sorry to hear that. I actually had convinced myself to give it a shot even though I'm not fond of 510. I REALLY like the looks of this mod, but I will not play the game if those are the rules. I thought thus was supposed to be a GG without the hefty pricetag? I understand why you did it, I just don't agree with that sort of business practice.

I"m sorry you feel that way. The Alpha base unit with RES is cheaper/or within $10 then just the UFS by itself (when you count the forum discount) I think that is an incredible value. IV is really doing its best to run at a razor thin margin for the benefit of the customer and our team works really hard 7 days a week to provide the best service we can. We are not perfect, and I apologize if my intro pricing strategy rubbed you the wrong way, I hope you can see that my intent was positive, certainly was not trying to upset anyone. Just trying to give the few people willing to jump in to a new device first thing a bit of a break. Thanks for the feedback, we are always trying to improve and take your thoughts and opinions very seriously.

Cheers,

SH

I'm really interested in the Ultra with the RES but have a few questions.

1. Are there any issues with leaking? For instance, if you leave it laying on its side, will it eventually leak out of the atomizer or the air holes?

2. Assuming that the RES has not been overfilled, are there any issues with flooding the atomizer?

3. Does the RES affect the draw at all?

4. Does the RES act a little like the cone on an eGo type model, producing a slightly warmer vapor?

5. Do you need to use any kind of lube on the threads to prevent locking?
