Yes you could say that it is. There are definitely a few differences. Our materials are of the highest standards. The device is made out of 6061 T6 aluminum that is electroless nickel plated which makes it very strong and corrosion resistant. The RES is made out of the same aluminum and medical grade ceramic. Our RES is much simpler to use than the GG's UFS (uninterrupted feed system). And our device is more cost effective. For the price of one UFS you can get an entire Alpha base unit with RES when you take our ECF discount. Add in the 10 year warranty and you will find the Alpha very desirable.

How do you change flavors with the RES?

All you have to do is unscrew the ceramic from the RES unit and rinse it out. After you rinse it set it on a paper towel to dry for a minute and then you can add a new flavor to it. The liquid does not absorb into the ceramic so you will never have to worry about it wearing out or retaining a flavor of a previous liquid.

The RES should work with a cartomizer as long as the height is the same as a standard 510 atty with a drip tip. I have not tried it however. I will get one and try it out and let you know.

Yes keep looking at the InnoVapor forum page for reviews to start coming in. To get an answer to the cartomizer question will take me a few days because I want to make sure I know what I'm talking about before I give you an answer. So as soon as I have tested it enough to have a good answer I will get it to you.

Yes you can the one that you want is the Ultramax base unit with RES. It will not fit an 18650 though, only the 2 rcr123s or 1 17670.

No there is no way to make a 901 work. But I would urge you to give this a try. It will work with either a 510 or 306 atty at any resistance. Whatever you are looking for in a PV you will find in one of the Alpha models. There are no reviews yet because today is the first day they have been available for purchase. Check the InnoVapor page for a thread on reviews in the next couple days.

So you can only use a 510 threaded atomizer, right? I use 801's but the Alpha won't work with an adapter, correct?
