Got my Strata in yesterday! I went to my buddy's garage to do my first build. He was stucco-ing an addition so I was sitting outside, watching, having a beer, & attempting my first build. Oh... First I washed the crapolla out of it. I had all the stuff laid out on a chair next to me and I put the strata's screws on the face of my iphone so they wouldn't roll away. I decided to just wing it and do something along the lines of Snork's simple build vid. As I was wrapping the coil I nudged the chair, knocked over my beer which landed directly on my phones screen. Instinctively, I grabbed my phone and shook it rapidly before too much beer soaked in. I then remembered that the screw posts were using my phone for a "safe place." Really??? Luckily they were all within a 5' radius of me. Phew! I didn't just want to follow the vid so I did it as best as memory could serve. 6 wraps of 28ga kanthal came out to 1.3 ohms. I somehow lost my organic cotton while I was in Austin a couple weekends ago so I'm using 1mm silica. I literally just threw the thing together because I was primed to be unsuccessful/disappointed. If I hadn't lost the screw posts the whole shebang would've taken 5 mins. Honestly I'm somewhat astounded. The flavor and vapor are great. I find that tweaking the top cap does make a big difference but the adjustment is straightforward.
The only couple of downsides I've noticed are I can't get the draw to my preferred tightness while getting the vapor production dialed in and I was hoping to get more liquid capacity. About 1/2 full or less seems to be the happy place for my setup. My .02! Lovin it!

I changed my coil today and went for a vertical MC. Bottom of the coil is just 1-2 mms above the deck. Huge improvement! Vapor production is excellent and TH is just perfect for me now. I think if you want to stick with a single coil and stay away from the ophion, that's probably the way to go. The build is very simple and the results are great. Understanding how the Strata airflow works took me a few hours, but that was definitely worth it to make some efforts to get this right.
Very happy with my Ela / Strata right now :)

It's great to hear you have a great coil working for you. Understanding and experimenting with the airflow is key and I'm glad it's yielding great results for you! Do you have a picture of the setup you can share?

Just got strata in the other day, first attempt at a coil without having looked at any of the how-to videos and its vaping like a champ. I found it funny that the atty comes with a paper printout of the ophion coil. 4/5 wrap dual coils 30ga @ 0.7ohms using 2mm silica. The airflow works great, I tried blocking 2 our of the 4 holes to see if any improvement but it actually made it worse, tightening the cap works much better. I'm glad I went ahead and did my own testing before buying into all the hate, because this atty is sweet. People are just mad they can't set it up good, too bad for them.

I'm glad you got it to rock so easy! It really isn't that hard to use. I have heard several times now that people are glad they stuck it out and waited to form their own impressions. Those who bought into the early negativity spawned by one persons initial impressions really had a disservice done to them and they are missing out on a great product for their Super-T Mods.

David for a guy on vacation, you sure are active on the forum today......;)
Since I am such a novice coil builder, tomorrow I take my Strata to a local vape shop. There is a guy their who has been building coils for years, he has agreed to help me with my build... :vapor:

He posted on FB too! :)

It's great to hear you finally received it and are already building like champ! I like your comment about being "primed to be unsuccessful/disappointed". No doubt about that. Funny thing is, I've identified several people who put up reviews/findings and they don't even own or have used a Strata, they just claimed to and regurgitated each others "findings" kicked off by a prominent reviewers testing/findings (testing that is completely non-applicable to the Strata or any RBA/RDA for that matter, see my Strata airflow thread for more on that).

^^^ no doubt about it. I'm still "newer" at this (93 days without a ciggy!) but I researched the ever lovin' shiza outta my next atty purchase before choosing the Strata. I dig the design. It certainly seems to work for me. And like you said, the craftsmanship is second to none!

Congrats on your 93 days! What atty were you using prior to the Strata?

Got my strata a couple days ago! I was a bit scared at first at what people were saying about how frustrating it is to get it to work.. but this worked wonders for me: 2 coils, 6 wraps of 28g kanthal around a nail coming in at about 0.6 ohms.. and it wasn't that hard..

Tons of flavor and decent vapor. Gotta play around with it more later =)

Congrats on quitting smoking. I agree with you on the design. The Strata is the best RDA on the market in my opinion. Flavor is really where this atomizer stands out. i never thought my e-liquid could taste this good.

I am going to have to try that build in the morning h0kies! I would love to see a center post top that unscrews right below the vortex twist on the top post, that would make vertical coils a little easier. I only received my Strata Monday I have done maybe 4 or 5 builds coil position seems to be key. The best build for me so far was 26ga 8 wraps dual around a 2mm screwdriver lifted high from the deck, Insane flavor but vapor production is less than the same build in a traditional dripper. Flavor is amazing better than my Kayfun with vapor production on par with a kayfun

I am going to try some dual stove tops tomorrow, I think the 360 air flow will benefit that style coil.

David what would be the chances of seeing a top post that also unscrewed right below the vortex on the top post? I would gladly give my money for a post like that.
