In my own little world
I was thinking mostly along the lines of maximum juice capacity with the loss of a couple of grams of mass as an added bonus. That being said, I have absolute trust in David as an engineer and machinist and know the Strata I receive will be perfect on both of those fronts.

I love the weight of my ELA; saying it needs no help in that department was just my crude attempt at humor. It is true that in this lifestyle there is nothing better than a hefty hunk of American steel and ingenuity. There is so much high end vape gear out there that gets cloned. Because of this, I only purchase items that won't be copied easily. It would be impossible to make a cheap clone of the ELA that includes all of its features. Some mods shamelessly copy the look of Super T mods but never their function.

Update 12/10/13:

- 200 Simplicity Strata bottom's are done (100 ribbed, 100 smooth).
- 100 Precise/PrecisePlus Strata bottoms are done
- 1000+ Screw in coil retaining posts are done (for ELA, P+ and Simplicity Versions)
- 500+ Center posts are done and at the platers, just sent them an email for an update as they said last week they were working on them
- We'll now move on to the Top Caps of the Simplicity and Precise/PrecisePlus Strats (300 of them to match the bottom half), they are the same for both).
- After those are completed, we'll crank out the 200 ELA top and bottoms (Center posts and Coil holding screws are done for them already)

Hi David. Can you confirm that the Stratas that were selected with a satin finish at checkout will be delivered as satin? Others chimed in with their thoughts and assumptions but you never said anything outside of your post that mentioned all 100 Precise + would be polished. This is weighing heavily on my mind as I really wanted it to closely match my P+ and don't have any interest in one that is polished that will clash with and not compliment it. Thanks!

The Strata itself is really not that heavy. Even thought the ELA version will be a few millimeters thicker, I don't think that it will add an excessive amount of weight. Overall, it will still be lighter than an ELA topped with a Kayfun, Taifun, Ithaka, etc.

This has been my hope!

David warning now, I will be requesting one of these for the simplicity 26650. :D I like big batteries, but not Popeye arms.

I know you are looking to hear from Super Dave and not his followers and fans, but maybe I can provide a bit of piece of mind.

His post states the parts were machined smooth, not polished. This should be read as smooth, ready for finishing, whether that be polished or satin depending on your choice at the time of your order.

I sent back my P+ soon after my pre-order in hopes Super T would re-finish it satin in the same media blasted batch as my Strata so the finish would match perfectly. Although the initial reply from Super T was basically "We'll try, but don't count on it" I got an additional reply stating that they were holding my P+ so it could be re-finished in the same batch as the Strata to match. This is sufficient evidence in my eyes that Satin is indeed the final finish, and anyone who specified satin as a finish at the time of order will indeed receive a satin finished Strata.

In my experience, Super T is a perfect example of a manufacturer that holds true to what they have advertised, other than estimated times of completion. Every item that I have ever purchased from Super T has been exactly as I expected, although on some occasions the time it took for me to receive said items has taken longer (some times much, much longer) than expected. IMO, the reasons for longer than expected wait times are always quality driven in an effort to ensure customers are without complaint in regards to the product they receive.

I hope this post settles your nerves, even if just a little, as I am 100% confident you will receive exactly what you ordered...

FWIW :)

What you picked at checkout will be what you receive. Even after deciding that the rest of the ELA's sold would only be offered in polished, he still honored the ones up to that point that were pre-ordered as satin.

And anyway, the P+ has always been a satin finish, so no reason for it to be otherwise.

Yes, if you checked satin, you'll get satin, if you checked polished, you'll get polished. I was just referring to the machining process of ribbed or "polished" which means non ribbed smooth machining finish.

Just wandering how far we are off from an ELA strata release date? Perhaps we could get another thread dedicated to updated news on the strata itself, including possibly feedback from beta testers. Just an idea.

edit- also, was the idea of adding a couple of lines on the ELA version of the Strata considered? Just would make the hybrid look a little more prominent.

Hi guys,

Isn't this great!?! I feel like we are getting close! Thanks for all the updates Dave!

Can I just confirm that from what I understand, the Simplicity Strata will come in four different versions? (ribbed & satin, smooth & satin, ribbed and polished, smooth and polished)?

For anyone needing another story of Super T awesomeness - I bought a 14500 before the $20 off sale recently (another one during the sale) - and without asking Dave sent me a refund for $20 on the original 14500. I don't know if other retailers just suck nowadays...but Super T definitely knows how to get my business! You set the standard Dave. Thanks!

Pretty sure the simplicity will just come with the standard simplicity "ribbed" finish, and possibly a super-t polished finish. I don't think there will be any type of satin finish for the simplicity version.

My 350 Ti is polished. My 650 Ti is ribbed. I think a polished would look good on both. Ya think?
