When you build, take a look at your center post and make sure it's straight. If you wrap the wire most of the way around the post that should help keep it straight, maybe catching the wire underneath only one side could .... it just slightly

Well, I didn't follow my own advice here, quoting it just to bring it forward since I just killed a 350

Got my strata built, test fired, everything okay so put on the top and drip tip. When I fired it, I got nothing . . . then my little Ti started to get warm and I noticed the button was still all the way in. The spring wasn't enough to break the connection when I had the hard short from center pin to drip tip and it just stuck there. By the time I pulled the switch back to neutral and unscrewed the Strata the battery was almost too hot to touch. Fortunately it didn't swell at all so was easy to just dump out of the tube. It wasn't a fresh charge, but now it's down to 2.25 volts so it's toast

Looking down in, I can see the center connection is just a little crooked from having more wire on one side than the other underneath it. So I must re-iterate my caution to check this if you're using the stock drip tip

Now, my user error moment aside, I kept the build kinda standard. Dual coil for about 0.9 ohms

It's certainly a little different vape than I'm used to. I'll have to go higher ohms next time, the throat hit is a tad on the aggressive side, but flavor is excellent!

I found it easiest to attach the coils by putting little loops in the wire for the posts like somebody suggested a few pages back. That coil is one strand of wire, wrapped both coils and put a loop between them and one on each end. Made it so much easier to build compared to my ham-fisted attempts yesterday

OH EM GEE!

Just got my shipping notice. If the USPS is on their game, I should have my Strata tomorrow!!!

You have movement, or you just received the notice? If you just got the notice, I wouldn't count on having it tomorrow. Dave prints the labels before they are shipped. I have had a shipping notice since 2-26 that still hasn't moved.

I'm sure glad ;) that the knowledge that the tip needs clearance has come to light. That situation never occurred during testing but it was discussed that it was important not to have any contact. I don't think we considered it a possibility with the stock tip.
One thing, I know that the tip as shipped has been a little loose and David supplies a beefier o-ring with it just in case. Do those of you who have had a tip short think that there's a possibility that the tip may have become crooked and the short could have been the result?

Well, I was trying to wrap some coils for a professional shot for the website, but I always make ugly coils, oh well, it shows you exactly how I set mine up. This is a four coil setup (two on the other side). I'd recommend if you run two coils, run them on opposite sides, opposite each other, it'll make for more uniform airflow. If you run a single coil, pick your poison where you want it, it makes no difference.

I love my new Precise Simplicity 18500 thanks Dave!

I guess I'll now have to buy a Strata, I have a couple of questions:
Is the Strata Titanium?
What ohm's is this build?
Can others post pictures of there coil builds on the Strata.

That is what happened with my experience, beefier O-ring was a quick fix, but initially the equal amount of wire under the post didn't totally fix it. Stock drip tip is relatively loose I would definitely swap out the O-ring and pay close attention to keeping the post level. The Strata is definitely not Titanium... it should be though!

Way to rain on my parade.

Sadly, you are correct. Just the notice. It hasn't been scanned in yet. :(

Just a small update on the coil that I posted about a few days ago. The coil is still performing very well. I have yet to test the resistance using my brother's fluke (been too busy to drive over to his house), but the coil runs a tad hotter than my standard 0.85 ohm coils. Vapor production is just a smidge less than my standard KF build, but it is definitely more than all my previous Strata builds. The flavor is still amazing, and this more than compensates for the slightly less amount of vapor produced. Strata definitely holds a good amount of juice. I can go about 30 minutes before having to top it off.

At this point, I find it easiest to just drop the juice down the drip tip, but every now and then I will remove the top cap to see how dry the wick is. While I generally like to keep my mods standing, I think that the coil area is better saturated when the mod is laying on its side. Even when over saturated, I don't get any leaks.

I only have one small gripe, the drip tip. I much prefer the short tip that came with my beta unit. Functionally, I cannot see (or feel) any difference between the two, but aesthetically, the shorter tip is the winner. When my P+ and ELA Stratas arrive, I will definitely be using the shorty engraved T-tips on them.

What happened to the ELA Strata? I saw they were up for pre-orders again... I added one to my cart, it loaded...But when I tried to checkout it showed out of stock?

We only had a couple, they were just cancellations we put up. Did you never get in on one?

As and update, we are machining the bottoms now, they look BAD ... on an ELA! Try to get up some pics soon!

I guess, you didn't do it fast enough. It was a cancellation. :(
