My first set up on the strata was a dual micro coil at .8 ohms and the device worked great. I then tried the orphion coil and I am not getting the same results. Does anyone know how far off the deck the coil needs to be for vapor? The coil is working good without the cotton but I am not sure how much cotton to use. Should I use tails in the well or fill the wells with the cotton? The dual coils work good, but I really want to get the orphion coil to work.

How is that for a cloud ? Blew it out my back door....

I tried a single coil, silica 3mm wick and 1.4ohm, the vapor was poor, high nicotine hit, harsh throat hit, I believe this is because the air from the other side is diluting the vapor which is more readily absorbed into the lungs just think of mixing turps with primer so it soaks into the timber better. It is pointless using the .... plugs as the one air hole will send air around the perimeter of the inside of the chamber thereby reducing the effect as only a small portion of air will hit the coil and no shims were provided to redirect the airflow. I then tried a single coil again, I removed the positive post and replaced it with the other negative post and took the silica wick over the top 1.4ohms so it was in the center of the atty. The vapor was nearly as good as a dual coil, but it was a hot vapor as the wick was to near the drip tip. so I think this would work if the posts were shorter and the terminals fixed with screws on top of the posts, The thing to note here is that the cold air is entering under coil.My second setup was with a dual coil which I will post later.

I set the dual coil up as demonstrated on the forum, worked like a fog machine, but when I filled the well with liquid the vapor dropped completely,as if I flooded the atty then I realized when cold air comes in it wants to sink to the bottom. just think of a fan heater, hair dryer or bellows the air comes from behind the element not on top of it for it to work, To make this work like a fog machine you just need about five or six drops on the top and forget about the well as it is redundant for storing e liquid, if this is the case. The 360 degree air flow works fine but I think the terminals should have been connected halfway up the post so air can get under the coil then you could use the well for liquid that it was designed for. anybody have any thoughts on this.

I thought I read about putting filler material in the bottom of the well (like the filler used for the spheroid) Not sure if it would make a difference. I am having pretty good success with the strata so far with the dual micro coils. I just want to get the orphion coil to work. I know if I keep tinkering with it I will eventually have success.

I got the orphion coil built. Came out perfect looking at the pics. I am getting much more vapor now, but still not where I want it. I am getting thinner vapor. It has to be the way I am placing the organic cotton through the coil. I wish I could do some pics. Anyone have a suggestion? When I build the dual coils it seems to work fine.

O.K.. Here is an update...

Envision.. Crazy woman.. Naked.. Kitchen.. Cats..

I know I am supposed to think 'out of the box' here. But, for my first try, I thought I would stay 'in the box', and see what people were .....ing about. So, I did my normal microcoil (24g Kanthal, 3/32" diameter, 8 wraps), with a goal of .6 ohms. I mounted her horizontal, at deck level. I threaded her with my rolled cotton. When metered, she came out at .5 ohms.

First try, and not bad. Taste: I taste my coffee more than I ever did before. Clouds: Not bad. Could I use more? Sure. Therefore, my next build, I will change it up a bit. Throat Hit: It hits. I wish I had some lower nic level on hand to try out.

So, because I did not go 'out of the box' on my first build, I expected failure. However, it was not. She is tasting pretty good, so I think I will vape her a while, before I change her up.

O.K.. Here is an update...

Still.. Envision.. Crazy woman.. Naked.. Kitchen.. Cats..

I still am not ready to go 'out of the box'. Hey, it's hard to teach an old cat new tricks! So..

My build yesterday was not bad. But, I wanted some more clouds. Today, I did dual coil, horizontal mount, rolled cotton. I wanted a .5 ohm build. Normally, I use .24 gauge Kanthal. There is no way to do a .5 ohm build, with .24 Kanthal, and mount horizontal with my size coils. There is not enough room for that many wraps. So, I found a small piece of .26 gauge Kanthal around. There was enough to achieve a .6 ohm build.

Second try, and pretty darn good. Taste: Wow. My coffee never tasted so good. Clouds: Today, I have more clouds. The volume of cloud is not as great as what I am used to. But, the clouds are more dense/thick than what I am used to. Kinda nice. Throat Hit: It hits. I still wish I had some lower nic on hand to try out.

So, again, I did not go 'out of the box'. I stepped it up to a dual coil. And, the result is pretty darn good.

BTW: I did the dual coil with a continuous piece of wire. This was my first dual. I figured it would be hard to attach two. I took the positive post out, attached the wire to the center post with a loop, and then wrapped my coils out from the post. Then, I just had to insert the post and attach the end of the coils to the negative posts. Hey, maybe everybody does that? I don't know. I am a 'lone vaper' here. And, I rarely watch vids. Unless, somebody hot, or somebody I know, is starring in them. :)

I'm going to sit back and enjoy this for a while. I hope everyone is having a good night!

Kool. Me too. The flavor is amazing with this atty. I just wish I could get my orphion coil working now. The coil came out perfect, I just can't get the cotton right on it. My dual micro coils are easy with the cotton. I may have to go back to the dual coils.

I will try more builds. I just wanted to start 'old school'. I would like to get a little more clouds. This build is good, but I would like to try for better. :)

I have to look back to see the builds people did, and pick one to try. I forget which one the orphion is. Stroke brain. :)
