I tested a couple of CE2's(15) last night and I found that torching the wick with a butane torch for about 40 seconds improved them quite a bit. After torching they wick in a more consistent manner, ones that had dry hit's stayed moist, and one's that had been over drawing fluid stopped. The people at Royal Smoker say that they burn the wick before they send them, I do not believe them.

Will Boge Carto's fit in the Depth Charge? I ask because I see you have Punched Dual coils up on the Depth charge page but not Boges. I used DC's a while ago (not in a tank) and didn't really care for them.
I am getting ready to put up the punched Boges they will work. I put the dual coil up first because they where requested.
I would like this as well, even written instructions and exactly what tools are used.
I wish someone would make a video or better yet a jig or tool to make these punched cartos, something like pliers if possible. The only jig I saw that existed, the person no longer makes, I asked him.
I've made a set of slotted cartos using a Dremel and just worry about the metal splinters like Jonah mentions, plus it's a little inconsistent IMO. I am not very mechanical and I don't have a vice or a punch so have no clue how to make these punched cartos.
Jonah, can't wait for the Carto tank as I would have already ordered a Torpedo but don't really care for CE2's.
I will have to check but one of my friends might be willing to turn out some jigs and punches. If he will I will have some made and list them on my site with a video on how to use them.
Sorry to keep you waiting on the Depth Charge, but it will be worth it.
I'm with you jonny! While you're waiting, if you have any old delrin capped tanks you can modify them to use carto's very easily. Use this Dremel tool 952 Aluminum Oxide Grinding Stone / Model: 952 and slowly rout each end cap, turning them over, making sure to rout from both sides. Keep checking the fit until a carto fits. You can make them just the right tightness if you take your time. You'll need a shorty tube for it to fit a Boge carto. They work perfectly and should hold me until Jonah gets the Depth Charge done!

Punched regular size cartos in standard and low resistance now on my site for your tank need's.
Jonah, are your non-DC carto's Boge? they look like they have a brass base in the picture on your website.
I am not sure Pete they said Boge on the order form but they do have a brass base and I have not been able to verify who made them.
In the past, brass base were made by SLB. If you cut one open you can tell by the coil design. The SLB's have a horizontal coil, the Boges, vertical.
After checking they are SLB carto's not Boge. I am looking into other carto options once these ones are gone. Sorry for any confusion.
I need some feedback. If I have my friend make a jig and punch set for cartos how many people want one?
That would depend on cost? Would it be adjustable for different cartos?
I don't want to guess but if the price is reasonable I think they will probably sell like hotcakes. Considering your new tank coming out another tank manufacturer is selling carto tanks and I think GG owners with AVS will also be able to use them possibly people with the new UFS cap that want to use 808 cartos also
I am thinking $20 for jig and punch with alinement for standard and xl cartos. If we need to make it for more sizes let me know but it might make it cost more. Also if people want an option we can probable make on where you provide the punch for about $15.
