QUOTE: A-Millennialist - This teaches that there will be no 1000 year reign of Christ on earth and no earthly Kingdom of God. They believe that when Jesus comes back to earth, He will take out all of the believers and eternity will begin at that moment. They also believe that Jesus bound satan when He was here the first time and that every time a believer overcomes a temptation, it is a reaffirmation of that binding. There is no Scripture that states that satan was bound by Jesus when He was here on earth. All you have to do is look around at all of the evil. END QUOTE

If this is indeed the belief of of A-Millennialists and I have interpreted correctly that Satan was bound when Jesus died and was resurrected, then how do the following scriptures fit into that belief system?

1 Thessalonians 2
17) But, brothers, when we were torn away from you for a short time (in person, not in thought), out of our intense longing we made every effort to see you.
18) For we wanted to come to you—certainly I, Paul, did, again and again—but Satan stopped us. 19) For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? 20) Indeed, you are our glory and joy.

1 Thessalonians 12
7) To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me.

This is Paul speaking, he did not start his ministry until after the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Now onto Peter, how could Satan be prowling and yet be bound?
1 Peter 5
8) Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

These are just a few examples of a great contradiction....

You got it! It can't be a-millennialist, as it absolutely doesn't make any sense.....and the post viewpoint was blown out of the water by the very nature of sin. :)

Yea, that sure doesn't make any sense at all. I never knew there were people out there that believed that.

"and no earthly Kingdom of God".....this isn't true....we believe there will be an earthly Kingdom of God starting with his second coming and continuing for eternity........and we have no position on "binding" Satan......this is simply an era in which we must make our choice whether or not we accept Christ's gift of salvation.....and as far as the evil you see around you, we figure people are to blame for that.....

Revelation 20:1-3 - Then I saw an angel coming down from Heaven, having the key to the bottomless and a great chain in his hand. 2) He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the devil and satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3) and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him so that he should deceive the nation no more till the thousand years were finished. but after these things he must be released for a little while. That settles that part. I use the New King James Version.

And that settles that! :)

I brought that up. Apparently a-millennialists believe that this has already happened (the first 6 verses of Rev. 20 in fact so I was told.)

the scriptures also say that the cattle on a thousand hills belong to the Lord.......do you interpret that to mean all the rest of the cattle do not?.......do you pick and choose which 1000s should be interpreted literally and which should not?......

Satan is bound.....right now....and has been since Christ was resurrected......and will be until Christ returns, when he will be given dominion over those who have rejected Jesus...

If Satan is 'bound' now it will be beyond Hell on Earth when he's loosed!
I don't know... I don't 'buy' this, I've actually met self proclaimed Satanists who worship the Devil.. they say he isn't bound... I mean, they 'lie' as much as the Devil does but 'why' would they lie about that?

Rev 18 Babylon has fallen, (God's judgment on them not us) merchants of the earth mourn and weep because nobody buys their goods any more.

19 THEN Salvation, marriage of the lamb, Jesus returns /w the armies of Heaven, judges and wages war. Unleashes the wrath of God.
The beast and his armies are assembled for war, the beast and the false prophet seized and thrown alive into the Lake of Fire, and all the rest were killed with the sword of the mouth of Jesus. (Will there be anyone to survive and live in the millennial reign of Christ?)

20 Satan bound in chains in the abyss for a thousand years. Those who do not partake in the 1st resurrection do not come to life again until the 1000 years is up, then the second resurrection. (Remember our understanding, absent from the body present with the Lord, reunited with a physical body at the 1st resurrection, the same for the lost, absent from the body, soul in temporary place torment, reunited with a physical body at the 2nd resurrection).
1000 yrs completed (no indication of anyone living on earth except for God and His own people during this 1000 years, they all were killed by the sword of His mouth), the second resurrection consisting of those outside of Christ, Satan is released to deceive the nations of those just resurrected. They are all gathered and surrounded the camp of the Saints and the city of the Lord, fire came down from Heaven and devoured them. The Devil is thrown into the lake of fire with the beast and the false prophet to be tormented for ever.
Then the great white throne judgment of those outside of Christ, judged according to their deeds, death and hades thrown into the Lake of Fire along with any not in the Book of Life, this is the second and final death.

21 New Heaven and earth, and the new Jerusalem coming down out of Heaven from God, behold the tabernacle of God is among men. The bride, the wife of the Lamb, the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, having the glory of God.

22 There will no longer be any curse, we will see His face, Behold Jesus is coming quickly to perform all of these things.

I don't want to put all of this in a box and label it as pre/mid/post tribulation, a/pre/post millennium (I think those labels all miss the mark). Instead let the truth fall where scripture says it will. (Let the word paint a picture for/to you instead of trying to figure out what box man has mistakenly placed it in.) (Evidence of that? Many conflicting understanding in which all cannot be correct.)

Trust, prepare, rejoice, and long for His coming.

There is no way satan is bound now. If he is bound now, who is responsible for all of the evil in the world today? It's worse now then it ever was.

????......people are responsible for the evil in the world today.....and no, it isn't worse now than it ever was.....have you forgotten the OT?.....the Amelikites used to offer their first born children on an metal idol that was heated red hot, then they laid their living babies on it's arms....Romans used to feed people to lions and people paid to watch in the Coliseum.....people used to drown women and burn them at the stake because they were accused of being witches.....Satan didn't do any of those things.....people did.......

That's beyond horrible, and the burning "witches" is still going on today in africa. Just terrible. But I believe satan and his demons are behind it influencing people to do things like this.

Well, that may very well be so, however, no one can convince me Satan is bound now.. there's waaaaaaaaaay too much evidence otherwise to convince me of this.. and if Satan is bound, what need is there for us? No Satan = No evil = No use for Christian witnessing. Let me try another angle.. (a non theological or doctrinal one... I'm really wearying of denominational doctrines & theologies.. they confuse & divide the Christian Body)... How do you explain the People who worship Satan indicating they 'experience' his presence just as we experience Christ's? If you'd like, I can even produce one for you and I can lead you to several web sites where former ones share their testimonies of being freed from service to Satan.

I believe satan used to influence people to worship pagan gods, and now he influences people to worship no god. Just another tactic used by him to steer people away from Jesus and salvation.

You've hit that nail right on the head Lisa Lisa! The original 'sin' in the Garden was Satan tempting Eve to eat of the forbidden tree so she could 'be' a God like God... and she ate. The same 'new age' lie abounds, we're all Gods and evil is only 'our' individual perceptions, there are no moral absolutes, no right or wrong.. what have you. The 'greatest' lie Satan has pulled off however to date is the one that he doesn't exist.. sort of like the one going around now.. (lol) Oh, he's loose all right... Satan is alive & well and living on Planet Earth. (lol) He's getting worse as 'he knows his time is short'.. but the book of Revelation states, "And they (that's us) overcame him (The Devil) by the Blood of the Lamb (that's Christ) and the WORD (That's God) of their testimony"
