I work for the gov't (Dept of Air Force), so they have rules specifically for vaping (e-cigs). You cannot vape indoors, but you are not banished to the designated tobacco use areas with the smokers either. You may vape anywhere outside, provided you are not directly in front of a main ingress/egress point of a building.

Beyond work, I generally follow the rules for smokers...if smoking is not allowed, I do not vape. I do vape in my vehicle and my home though.

A rule made by a governmental dept/agency that resembles a sensible compromise??? Shhhh don't say it to loudly or someone will be quick to correct that policy.

I know; right??

We've (my vaping co-workers and I) have jokingly discussed complaining about not having the same amenities the smokers have (e.g. covered gazebos, park benches, etc.) for us to utilize without having to join the smokers, but the results might not be desirable, so we've not ventured down that road.

Speaking as both a former smoker AND a former vaper, I can assure you that being in an enclosed space (such as a bar or restaurant) and forced to breath in your fumes, while certainly a much better experience than if it were cigarette smoke, is still usually not a very pleasant experience.

When I was active here my attitude was always "your rights end where the other guys begins", and it still is.

the good thing about vaping.... I can turn it off.... but the person sitting in the booth behind me cant turn of that gawd awful perfume ....
at least BO doesnt make my sinuses swell up

I have to be careful when I'm in a restaurant...I have this tendency that when people walk in and stink the place up with perfume, I tend to be a little loud when I say, "Good LORD! Shower with water, not a bottle!" lol.

Hey there. I am pretty much in the same mind set as you on this matter. I am a considerate person to begin with so why shouldn't I be considerate of others when vaping? But I am one that if it is not bothering someone, I will vape where I please. I don't consider it in the same category as smoking because I find it hard to believe that what is in my juice could hurt anyone through the 2nd hand vapor. I will have to admit I have vaped at a doctor's office. But that was after they had taken me back to the examination room and left me for just a little bit to long. And I did take a little toot when I was giving blood last time. It takes a while to give to pints of blood. I just know that I will continue to practice good common sense and consideration when I am out in the public eye. Just like I did as a smoker.

Now if we could get some people to stop bathing in cologne, I'd be happy.

Generally I won't vape on a restaurant with the exception of a restroom break but I will vape in most bars.

The bars I frequent were strongly against the smoking ban as were their customers. So it's not surprising that most of these places welcome vaping with open arms.

Some of these establishments actually ignore the smoking ban at night even because the potential fine is far less then the lost business from their regular clientele. Some have even boycotted lottery sales in their establishment as retaliation to the state smoking bans.

So, then, We've already been regulated to 'Smoker' Status...?

Yes, for the vast majority of places, it has been. And vaping in the store or restaurants with a no smoking policy don't be surprised if you are quickly told not to. Yes, it's vaping but to the general public if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck its a duck. A number of juices are foul smelling and I don't want to smell them in a restaurant while I am eating. Do we really need to have such a lack self control that we can't wait until we get out of Target to vape?

If you don't want everyone to do it - don't. I prefer my restaurant food without conflicting odors, and my apples without a slimy layer of PG/VG. Picture every grocery shopper blowing clouds. Now picture your car windscreen during winter.

On the other hand, tho... I'm wondering how long it takes before someone sues their employer for forcing them to stay in the presence of toxic fumes. That would be 'go to the smoking area'.

speaking as a former smoker and now a vapor i assure you
that here in Saint Paul where vaping is allowed if the establishment
is ok with it i have heard no one complaints about the smell yet.
you would be surprised how well it works with out imperial entanglements.

i vape anywhere out doors and everywhere indoors period.
of course i use discretion when the occasion warrants it.
i will not ever again be treated like a sub human. i will
not be kicked to the curb. vaping is 98 to 99.8 % safer
than smoking and harmless to bystanders and yes we
know this. its time the 80% of the non-smoking
population learn to suck it up. if they don't like it
they can move to the curb.
i a a vaper,not a smoker.
i am a vaper,not an addict.

regards
mike
