How can you people sit and say this guy is uneduacated? Sometimes accidents do happen. Just because you think you are "educated" about battery safety means noting if the battery malfunctions with out being pushed to its limits.

Can you say that was what happened with certainty? A freak battery accident that is.

food for thought:

how many gun shops do you think teach everyone who walks in, about proper gun saftey/handeling? - those who walk in and dont specifically ask for help.

edit to add:

also what about car dealerships? not the license buero but the dealership that sells the car, how many people do you think they tell in a day - to buckle up and only drive the speed limit, 10 and 2 on the handle, adjust the mirrors, ect?

Just like the knife example, you have to be an idiot or an elementary school student to not understand that guns are dangerous.
This does not apply to batteries, where any normal person is quite capable of being unaware of the dangers.

Yep cause putting anything called a power source near your face could never go wrong......but I guess that's me just being on my high horse expecting the average joe to understand that if a device that stores electrical power fails it could be bad for the user. Silly me.

Already a requirement of getting the licenses that they will verify along with proof of insurance during the completion of paperwork before releasing the car.

As to your first comment: How long have Guns been around? How long have Custom Mods/Hybrids been around.

Absolutely.

How many people are walking around right Now thinking they have 30A Batteries in there Mod? When in Actuality they are just Rewrapped 20A Knock-Offs.

Lots of things can Happen.

If you think the "average joe" should understand that then you are wrong.
I don't know anything about "high horses" and all the rest of that.

I have 20 amp AWs from a reputable dealer and build accordingly but by all means proceed the helmet kids need heroes too.
This is a side of you I've never seen before.
I guess you're pretty passionate about this whole topic.

Here's an idea how about instead of b&m's holding cloud competitions they hold battery safety night or safe practice's night hell coiling and wicking night granted your not going to shift a lot of mechs but you'd have a safer group of returning customers that would have some loyalty to a store. It isn't hard for b&m's to be a positive part of vaping and if every store ran those sort of nights vaping would get a lot more positive press could even invite local journalists down and let them report that better then the constant negative bashing. Whilst initially a shop might lose a big chunk of profit it would be recouped over a longer time from the inevitable repeat trade, even make up and print out some type of certificate to present people when they have attended to make those who have to get something for their time happy.

I had my IPV mini in my pocket once, along with my cellphone while I was browsing ECF. Someone downstairs burnt something in the oven and the smell of smoke hit the air, and at that same time my cell phone vibrated from a call and I panicked and thought my IPV was about to explode in my pocket until I realized what had happened.

That's not so bad, as long as he didn't get past second base...

I'm easy like that! LOL!

Sure a bad battery occurs here and there, but I am also sure that thing didn't just hum and blow up in 2-3 seconds. A shorted battery will get hot (very hot) before it reaches venting and or explosion territory, check one of the many YT videos on the topic! I also don't think the "victim" in this case is giving the entire true account as it actually occurred. We'll probably never know the real story here.

Who said we said that guy who nearly blew his hand off was uneducated? I can only speak to my comments on proper education: Personally, I'm speaking generally about the uneducated vapers out there and how the vast majority has no business using either a mech or a sub ohm. Many, not all, just wanna be cool a make clouds without any regard for their own safety or the safety of those around them.

Full Video :24 seconds: This includes the time to load through a set of Jumper cables 10-15' long
Mod is Battery end to end in length.

How many people, including "children" die or are severely hurt every year from ATV accidents? Yet not one word about banning or taxing them!

You must not be keeping up. At least 44 states have legislation on ATVs.

ATV dealers are prohibited from selling adult ATVs to families purchasing them for children under agreements between CPSC and manufacturers. CPSC also does undercover monitoring at ATV dealerships ----

(That's precisely why in the late 1980s, the industry agreed to stop making three-wheel ATVs in favor of more stable four-wheel models).

---and now there is vast amounts of education and safety training programs around 4 wheelers as well, with a corresponding decline in traumatic injuries.

I live in a tiny rural town and there are all sorts of stuff enacted. YOu have to register them now, and there are taxes on the sale when you buy them, just like everything else.
