I started smoking cigarettes at 14. Wish they had e-cigs when I was a kid.

I was still a month away from my 14th b-day when I started smoking... I SOOOOOOOO wish I could have demonstrated my rebellious nature with a vape, rather than a smoke... My mom might still have beat the hell out of me when she found out, but at least I wouldn't have been saddled with a TOXIC, anti-social habit for 39 yrs.

Never told my parents I'd ever touched a cigarette and plan on keeping it that way, but they really weren't bothered when I told them I vape. Granted, It was a day before my 23rd birthday, not 14, but still. No issues at all. I can openly vape in front of them and they don't mind. My mom quit smoking a few years ago, now tootle puffs an evod with 0 nic juice, and my Dad still smokes, I'm trying to get him to quit smoking with an Istick 30w/subtank nano, currently 6mg juice. I think parents should generally be more receptive to vaping over smoking in any situation.

I was driving down the street and I stopped at a light, out of the corner of my eye I see a huge cloud. I turn my head and I see this young maybe 15 yrs old blowing clouds of huge vapor. It felt wrong some how, to see someone this young cloud chasing walking down the road on his way to school. This is what all non vapers are afraid of teens vaping. For myself it was the huge clouds, I don't think it I would have felt the same if he had been vaping a tank?/Spinner 2 with normal vapor, he just looked so young, argggg!

I'm just amused by it now, how often someone gets outraged by a "kid" vaping and feels obliged to post their indignant rant here. Oh the HORROR -- a teenager is inhaling vapor instead of thousands of deadly chemicals -- THE HORROR!

Op I I don't feel your post is an indignant rant (harsh and IMHO an unwarranted attack on the poster) I get it and honestly I feel the same way when I see the kids walking down my street on their way to or from school smoking or lately vaping away, it bothers me and I don't like it. I blame these types of attitudes displayed here as to why so many kids are the way they are these days, "responsible" adults that do not care or set down boundaries.

I don't believe vaping is harmful to me. At all. Nobody has proven my belief wrong nor my experience false.
If this is my belief, why should I care if any other human being vapes?
it is your belief, which is not necessarily fact. just sayin.

Just my opinion but I think that until we KNOW the impact of vaping on the human body we should protect our children from it. Adults? yeah have at it. I like the V1 diketone ridden flavorings and vape em. but then I did not stop smoking and start vaping for reasons of health but for reasons of money and also found it more enjoyable by far.

will banning underage vaping stop all of them from doing it? No way but we should do what we can to protect them.

Again just my opinion.

also considering pending legislation, etc any rude vaping is doing a disservice to all vapers.

My husband doesn't smoke, and I quit a 30 year, pack a day habit more than 2 years ago by vaping. He couldn't be happier! He's a cop, and is always scanning the surroundings by nature and training. There have been several times he's pointed out people vaping that even I didn't notice - including restaurants and once at an airport gate waiting to board a plane! I have never heard anyone complain about someone vaping in public. This reinforces my belief that the objection to vaping is in the visual appearance, not the smell or perceived health risk to others. And when we start banning things that are only objectionable because we don't want to see it, or it scares people because it makes them uncomfortable when there's no health threat, we are teetering on a slippery slope.

The homosexual community has successfully overcome a similar taboo and made their lifestyle mainstream. What can we learn from their success and similarly change public opinion?

* And before anyone brings up any suggestion that I'm a homophobe, my adult daughter has the most wonderful girlfriend. :)

I seriously doubt teens walking around vaping out in the open will make is more acceptable on any level considering the majority of states have banned sales to minors some states banned to anyone under the age of 19-21 and it is the single largest reason, youth vaping, stated by all anti-vaping proponents for banning and strict regulations on ecigarettes and eliquids.

You're right. My son is 27, but if he takes a notion to shave off his facial hair, he looks about 12. :D He gets carded, too. But not with a nice goatee. ;)

I have a baby face too....even at 45.

Which is why I keep a beard.

1. All states banned minors from smoking.
Look how well that worked out.

2. Anti vaping legislation has far more to do with tobacco tax revenue and BT settlement payouts than anything, and it's the sole reason statewide anti vape laws will be passed.

Sales to minors is banned and just because some minors choose to ignore that law doesn't make it right or acceptable or should minors be able to choose which laws they want to obey an if enough minors choose to ignore certain laws adults should just throw up their hands and say "Oh well" or "I did that when I was a kid" and accept it?

An opinion which does not negate the fact youth vaping is the single largest reason stated by all anti-vaping proponents for banning and strict regulations on ecigarettes and eliquids.

Thank you for completely missing my point. You're right. 19 - 21 year olds should vape behind closed doors, so the government won't make laws against it. Oh wait, they did! But let's not rock society's views that homosexuality is unacceptable and make laws forbidding same-sex marriage and prosecute people for sodomy, or interracial marriage. Oh wait, they did!

All of those stigmas have been overcome. Again, I ask how can we change society's views on vaping to make it acceptable, and not verboten because the visual act of vaping makes people uncomfortable when there is no public health threat?

No, but wasting taxdollars passing tons of sidebar legislation surrounding the issue is just plain stupid.
99% of vape shops do not sell anything to minors anyway. Let's roll with that and let he same people policing kids with cigs go after teen vapers, and not wast another cent on it.

They can state anything they want.

The fact is, states have funded services with millions of dollars of tobacco tax money and they are not about to loose that revenue stream.

Spin it any way you want, but that's a fact.
