Yes, I see as similar.

What I also don't "get" is that, because cigarettes smelled so bad, but to us, the flavorings in vapor doesn't, why vapers think that *everyone* wants to be in a room all day smelling chocolate fudge brownie or cinnamon buns if they don't vape and never smoked.

I found that out with a family member, who is VERY pro-vaping because of me. But I noticed that he just didn't enjoy being surrounded by those smells, esp in closed car or closed room. He kinda didn't sa anything because he cares about me.

Most non smokers who have smelled my vapor say it smells like bubble gum or cotton candy....regardless of what flavor Im vaping at the time.

Let me assure you, "whoopin" 'em doesn't do any good at all, it just turns them against you, so that they never listen to anything further you have to say. My mother beat the hell out of me when she learned I started smoking at the age of 13. I never seriously listened to anything she said after that, and still don't.

If you really want to alienate your child, go on and "whoop" 'em. That's the only effect it will have. Corporal punishment is not effective for any child over the age of about 9-10, and certainly not at all for a teenager -- it just makes them hate you.

Andria

That might be your individual experience but let me assure you that your statement about "whooping" does not hold true for everyone.

I'll be the first person to tell you that I spanked my son when he needed it and hes a much better person for it today.

If asked, he will tell you the same thing.

Not disciplining our children is part of whats wrong with society today. No or laughable consequences for their actions contributes to an air of entitlement and a blatant disrespect for authority.

And all you have to do to see the truth of that statement is turn on the news.

Same here, I drive a Class B box truck all day and I'm amazed at how many other truckers are puffing down their favorite juice. I'm a lefty so my mod is normally chilling at the bottom of the window and every once in a while another trucker will hold his up and give me a nod haha
I'm a truck driver vaping had stopped a 2pk a day habit for me now I do vape a lot 10 to 15ml a day and down to 3mg nic but I sub ohm. On a RDA

Some people read "whooping" as beating the hell out of a kid. There is a difference between discipline and abuse. Alot of kids deserve a whoopin and need 1 but no kid deserves being abused.

I agree 100 percent.

I have never spanked my kid when angry.

I have always given him time to think about what he did wrong......as well as about the impending punishment.

To be honest, I think thats usually worse than the actual spanking.

I have popped his hand or his .... when he was doing something dangerous like about to touch a hot stove....but thats different.

Here's the thing about many teens: they don't listen and they don't understand consequences. When something is banned, they think it's more awesome. They don't stop to consider what the effects are of their actions. Schools aren't allowed to do it, so it's up to parents to scare the living daylights out of them to stir up some forethought. Drive through the worst parts of town and point out the addicts and the deadbeats. Get in touch with rehab centers and have the councilors ask their patients if they would speak to kids about addiction. These things can work, but parents have to actually put in the effort.

My child was raised by me alone. She grew up quicker because of it IMHO. I would ask her what she would do if her child did whatever it was that she did LOL she would always come up with more severe punishments than me - but it taught her that consequences matter so pay attention. She is all grown with kids and grandkids now and I am so proud of her. :D

Junk food diets. Gallons of energy drinks. 48- hour stationary/ digital days. Binge drinking. Experimenting with unmentionables...

Yes... their vapes has to go... :p

(This is not my truthful impression of kids today. I added a couple buckets of hyperbole and stereotyping to make a point.)

Actually, the OP said they would have thought differently if the person they observed had been using a vision spinner with normal vapor, so the post was all about perception.

The OP also speculated on the age and destination of the vaper. What if that person was 19 and walking to the bus stop to go to a job? Again, it was about wanting to stop something that was visually uncomfortable because of how it may used to restrict legal unharmful behavior by others.

My husband once had a commanding Colonel who looked 12. Every time I saw him, I asked if his momma knew where he was. :D He served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, and then was assigned to the Pentagon. When I saw him a couple of months ago, he looked maybe 18. True story. Looks can be deceiving.

Eh my 2 cents on the whole mess is I agree in a sense we dont want ot see under age vaping (is that a thing?)

HOWEVER, as pointed out, alot fo kids even when I was in high school have admitted ot either trying or actively smoking. And as a result, I agree, vaping as awhole is alot better. Furthermore, I have never personalyl smoked or even tried a cigarette, but picked up vaping as a hobby myself.

The big clouds, however are the concern because I think "Is this kid being smart abotu what hes doing, ro doing what some minimum wage clerk behidn the counter told him is ok"

furthermore I know aroudn here you need to be 18+ to buy vape gear, so if Isee it in a minor's hands, makes me wonder how he got it in the first place.

But in any case, I would say if I saw a kid using a vape pen I would kinda think "stupid kid" (in the sense that the kid shouldnt try these things, and yes I know I am calling myself stupid too), but seeing said kid blow monster clouds, really makes me shake y head..

ah well, c'est la vie

I was driving down the street and I stopped at a light, out of the corner of my eye I see a huge cloud. I turn my head and I see this young maybe 15 yrs old blowing clouds of huge vapor. It felt wrong some how, to see someone this young cloud chasing walking down the road on his way to school. This is what all non vapers are afraid of teens vaping. For myself it was the huge clouds, I don't think it I would have felt the same if he had been vaping a tank?/Spinner 2 with normal vapor, he just looked so young, argggg!

You should have taken action there and then, put an end to the onslaught on adult vaping! You even had a car at your at your disposal.

You all just hit kids for fun is it? ;)

Walking into a store today I saw a kid sitting on the corner crying.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"My mom gave me two dollars to buy candy and some mean kid stole one of them" he replied through his tears.

"Did you call for help?" I asked.

"Yes, I said 'help help' " he said in a soft voice.

I said. "Is that as loud as you can yell"?

"Yes" he replied.
So I smacked him and took the other dollar.

LOL!
I don't know about "you all" or kids in general but I hit my kid now and then just for fun ;)
I like to keep him on his toes and always expect the unexpected.

on the other hand I NEVER strike my kid when I'm angry, especially if I'm angry with him.
My son fears and respects my walking away silently much more
than he does my fists.

Agreed. Do you know how hard it is to discipline an ADHD child with a time out chair? :nah:

While I never took either of my boys over my knees, I had no problem administering a good smack across the behind when absolutely needed - even in public.
