I've been using them in mine for about a month and they work flawlessly.
Just bought 2 - Panasonic 2900mah NCR18650PF's, but haven't compared how long they last against each other yet.

Good to know, thanks! I guess I'll give em a go and see how it works out....thanks!!

I got mine about two weeks ago, In the last few days I've noticed a buzzing sound before the coil sound. It's definitely there. I don't know if I should be worried or not. Having said that, I was worried enough to do a search to find this post... Whilst it's still working, I guess I'm a little nonchalant about the matter... xx

Since we're on the subject of batteries for the VTR: I am currently awaiting delivery of my VTR, it will be my first mod (very excited). Regretfully I will be receiving one with the spinning 510 connection, so I'll just have to cross my fingers that I do not have an issue with it.

How can you tell a VTR with the "spinning 510 connection" from one that does not? I've read that newer (v2?) versions have rectified the issue by eliminating the spinning capability, but does anyone know if there is any way to ensure that you can get a newer one without the feature when ordering one? I'm very interested in purchasing a VTR, but I don't want to find that I've bought one with an essentially unnecessary feature that may cause problems on down the line.

Ducks, mine hums sometimes too. I thinks it is the circuitry.

Joseph, the site I got mine from (fast tech) said the connection didn't spin in the description. Just that. Check the description. Or you can contact customer service. If there are recent reviews of the VTR on the site you got it from, that is a good clue.

Thanks Worzel; I will do that. In reviewing the discussion forum on the fast tech website, one poster linked to a December 7th, 2013 review of the VTR in which the difference in versions is discussed (at around the 5:00 minute mark):

Innokin itaste VTR (redesigned version) - YouTube

The video reviewer also points out that the redesigned 510 connection - that is fixed (that is, not spinning) - has four air grooves and two air holes in the base of the connection that are apparently not present in the original. You can see it in the video. That should be a good way to discern the older version from the newer version.

From the discussion forum, it would appear that the redesigned version was released in early December:

What version is being sold?: FastTech Forums

Check it out!

I have the newer version and it came with the boxed set with the 1clear30s. My conclusion would be it is has the new iclear30s with it you may have get new version of the VTR...just a thought.

Oh yeah, I got lucky. I didn't know about the issues with the 1st gen VTRs when I ordered from FT, just right afterwards. The two air holes in the base of the connection are actually bored into the grooves.

With the Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh I go 24 hours before the battery indicator changes from green to amber. If I had to estimate I'd say 7-8ml vaped in that period.

I use the 30a 2100 milliamp Sony batts on mine. Last right at about 24 hours, and 5 - 7 mils of juice.

Well I just took delivery of my new VTR in Green. And I am VERY happy to say that I got one WITHOUT the rotating 510 Connection!!! I am especially happy as the seller told me it had the spinning connection, but he was wrong!! yaay!

I am charging the IMR 18650 battery right now, and i will be sure to post a "mini-review" as soon as I have a chance to play with it....

Here's a couple pics of the fixed ring (cross grooves and the 2 holes). The color on my ring (fixed) is also the same as the extension tube, not matching the chrome/silver of the main VTR case. 2014Jan17_0022_VTRRing1w.jpg2014Jan17_0020_VTRRing2w.jpg
