Well, after having a chance to play with my new VTR over the weekend, I can honestly say that I am LOVING this Mod!! This is my first 'real' mod (upgraded from a Halo Triton) so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but I am really digging the VTR! I bought a few different tanks to use with it. The iClear 30S that comes with it is a great tank. Really like the draw and ease of use. The next 2 tanks I tried were the Protank2 and the Davide BDC. Both great tanks....
The one tank that I really wanted to like was the ISmoka BCC Mega. I loaded it with my favorite eJuice (Black Cherry Pina Colada) and the thing hit like a champ. However, when I tried to reload it I got a LOT of flooding. I took the clearomizer completely apart several times & dried EVERYTHING, but each time I put it back together it flooded again.....Maybe I need a new coil in it to get a fresh seal? Who knows...But I am now afraid to use it, because I don't want to flood the 510 connection on the VTR and ruin it!!
Anyway, back to the subject of the VTR. Having both VV and VW is nice. I find myself running the iClear 30s (2.1 Ohms) at about 9.5 Watts, which gives me about 4.45 Volts (having an Ohms law calculator on my phone is very handy!!). It's weird - sometimes I prefer running it in VW, and other times I prefer VV. With the Protank 2 and the Davide, I find myself using VV instead of VW. Not sure why, but it's fun to play with nonetheless...
As far as the weight goes, I really like the weight of the VTR! It feels 'sturdy' and rugged, and I like that about it. It feels like I can drop it and it'll be fine. My wife thinks its WAY too heavy so the weight is not for everyone. She just got into vaping around the same time I did, so maybe I'll get her a slightly lighter mod....
My VTR came with the 'fixed' 510 connection which I am happy about, but one thing my VTR DOES do is "buzz"....when I push the 'fire' button, I can hear a faint buzzing sound coming from around the 'fire' button area. I have heard others talk about this..it seems like a common thing with the VTR, so I am not too worried about it....I am currently using 2 Panasonic NCR18650B's in the device, and I have an IMR 18650 2000 mAh battery as well. I find that the Panasonic NCR's last a LONG time; more than 24 hours in most cases..Another thing I noticed with the VTR is the "rattlesnake effect". As I understand it, this is due to the 33.3 Hz chip used in the device? Is that right?m Anyway it does not bother me one bit....
All in all, I am really impressed by the VTR. I just thought I'd share my experiences thus far. I am a vaping newb here, so I am sure I'll have plenty of questions for you guys down the road! I also just placed an order for a Smok Magneto with a Kick 2 (and an IMR 18500 flat top). I really want to experiment with Mech Mods, and I figured this would be a good place to start. I have been doing a LOT of reading/resarch, and I decided that mech. mods would be fun to play with. I am a Service engineer by trade, so I think that mech mods would be right up my alley...more 'hands-on' so to speak....And it's only a matter of time before I get into RBA's!!
