I went ahead and took the plunge to circumcise my VTR as well since not being able to use my kayfun lite+ (Tobeco clones) without the awkward extension was irking me. Love the feel of the VTR with the totally matching kayfun lite+ on it. Got back the handiness/compactness of the lovely bit of heavy metal that is the VTR with my great tasting/performing kayfun's. Here's a pic. Love going "ringless"...

Had to order the special star screw driver though to pop the top off (no electrical connections to dis-entangle though which is great). Didn't quite have one small enough. 6 bucks later on Amazon, I have too many star screw drivers now ;-)

Sorry, the question wasn't very clear after I reread it. What I wanted to know is, will it fire a coil that's less than 1ohm? That info doesn't seem to be listed in any of the official specs.

According to what I've read about the VTR, it won't fire below about 1.5 ohms or maybe a little lower. It is not a sub-ohm device. Stick to pure mechanicals for sub-ohms, and even then, make sure you know exactly what you're doing.

To concur, a review of the VTR had this to say about low-resistance coils:

Some of the features are really handy for Vapers that build their own coils, including the above-mentioned short circuit protection and ohms readings. In addition, the Low Voltage Warning is one feature I really like since I’ve been trying my hand at wrapping the lowest resistance coils I can. If I go too low I don’t have to worry about the VTR blowing me to kingdom come. (Remember, less resistance means more power getting to the juice)

well guys I promised I would come back and update...Innokin finally responded to my email about the VTR I purchased from a co-op that failed after 3 1/2 months of daily use (it was never abused or dropped). They will do nothing to assist. I guess I have purchased my last Innokin product

Thanks guys. I have done the research and own multiple mechs, RBA's, and RDA's. Never had a problem because I don't push the limits. Thanks for the info on the VTR. I am thinking of purchasing one and wanted to know its capabilities\limitations.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Their website states they have a three-month warranty, so presumably they thought that yours exceeded this. I've never heard anything good about their customer service, unfortunately.

I believe it depends on where you buy it and what you paid for it. From what I read they won't help you if it isn't an authorized dealer and they won't help you if you paid under a certain price they demand their dealers sell it for.

I believe I have also read in other threads that Co ops usually forfeit warranty coverage for the deal of a low price. I could be wrong but I know I've read about similar situations in other threads. Might be worth a search since innokin may not be the only ones that do this.

VTR fires down to 0.5 ohm, no problem.

It's seen a lot of use and a little abuse too. It's covered in dings & scratches but still works flawlessly.

For a mass-produced Chinese mod I think the VTR is great quality and the price is right too.

Love the stability of the wattage regulation. Fires sub-ohm perfectly which so many other VW devices don't.

Word. I love that the use looks good on it. It's definitely a device that's built to be used.
Reminds me of my favorite knife. 10" Wusthof Classic, used that thing every day at work for 10 years. It isn't pretty, but it'll outlast me by a longshot.

Love a well made knife, my John Graham Razel has taken a beating over the years (literally, it gets used as a chisel) but it still performs perfectly.
