itaste VTR

Had to order the special star screw driver though to pop the top off (no electrical connections to dis-entangle though which is great). Didn't quite have one small enough. 6 bucks later on Amazon, I have too many star screw drivers now ;-)

My B&M had the right size torx bit to try and swap the tops from my stripped VTR to my new VTR. When I tried to pull the rawlered VTR ring top some circuit boards tried to come with it. Do you have pics from your removal? Maybe I missed a step in popping the top.

Im planning on getting a third VTR and leaving the ring alone and using the X.I Innokin bottom coils for my out of the house rig. Im liking the circumcised VTR as I will likely go with a IBTanked or kayfun at some point, plus its easier to thread the Octopus dripper without the ring.

ETA: The VTR with the kayfun is flat out sexy.

OK damn...I new something like this would be here in the forums. Well long story short, I just traded some stuff on the classified section for an itaste vtr and was wondering what I should ask this dude? You guys are mentioning something of a bottom wheel problem?
edit: So he just clarified with me that its the fixed version so dodged a bullet there. Now onto the fun stuff, I am mostly a mechanical mod user and Im used to sub-ohming on drippers and genesis style attys. There is almost no chance that Im going to be keeping the vtr around, (when it gets here) if I cannot get a genesis or dripper on it. (not really a protank or cartotank guy) Also, theres the fact that there is a size limitation to which kind of attys you can use but its all good. I can build higher ohms no problem but I think the hardest thing is going to be finding a nice atomizer to go on it. I found a compatible list but the good ones are sold out and the others have some cons that come with it. Im also a very visual person and would like to see how it looks first beforehand but thats hard to do when your shopping online. I was hoping some of you guys can post pics of your setups with an atomizer that you have on it and rate its performance. I came across these from a thread I started regarding smaller genesis type atomizers and wasnt sure if they would be too small or would like nice on the VTR. DID Atomizers | mmvapors.com I also have a DNA 30 box coming in about a month so I think this would be a great way for me to transition into the box type devices.

Hey fj, while cruising ECF for VTR info I ran across a post showing some custom mod extension work and photos. May help you decide whether rebuidables are useable on the VTR. VTR Custom Extension

Also, if I remember what I was told correctly, the iGoS is smaller in diameter(14mm (.55 in) wide) [-- iGoL(19.05mm (.75 in) or iGoW(20.066mm (.79 in)--] and may fit the VTR ring tolerance of 19mm, or at least be shorter than some mods when it's set on the VTR extension.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Another dodge to get a slightly larger tank into a VTR is to use an automotive brake hone to take some of the metal off the inside of the top ring. I would guess you can get another millimeter of diameter, safely, that way and it's a fairly cheap and easy way to get that added clearance while keeping the top ring.

GOT Vapemail Today...

Itaste VTR from Vermillion River with two AW IMR 18650 1600mah 24a YaaaY!

It's very cool and I don't have anything to charge the batteries 'cause the mod arrived before the XTAR WP2 II Charger and 2 EFEST IMR 18650 Button 2250mah 10a. BummeR

In the mean time I learned the workings of the IClear 30S and loaded it with Peachy Criminal to launch my first vape from a mod. YaaaY!

After more viewing of pre Jan 2014 vids on the iTaste VTR I have drawn a conclusion on the reason for the turnable 510 connector. Once the atty is screwed in from the top, the wheel is turned to tighten the connection to the VTR. like, locks it in place.

This has no bearing on whether the connector actually engages the 510 connection on the atty or gives an erroneous reading/no reading. Just a statement on maybe why it turned. Now it doesn't on the newer ones. :)

Hey akpostal, here's a pic, I popped it off again. 2 side screws (short) 2 long top screws, and wiggle to get the spin dial connection to disengage, and that was it. I'm wondering if the electronics boards are tight into the top they may lift off with it? Didn't happen to me though.

Definitely enjoying the VTR with Kayfun, yes.

Thank you for posting the picture. Im heading back to my B&M Thurs or Fri, and I may be able to find a super small torx locally. Im buying a third VTR when I visit the B&M so I may try and swap the rawlered top to the VTR I cut the ring off off. I can always swap it back if I go with something like the Kayfun.

Sorry for the individual posts but I'm on my phone and I couldn't copy and paste more than one thing. The atty is a Gus Aiolos which is 16mm. As you can see its not a snug fit but it looks nice still and works even better. I'm set @ 4.7 volts and it vapes like a champ. Coming from a mechanical mod I can't say it's on the same level with a sub ohm build but it's more convenient and performance is solid. Makes me happy :)

VTR will fire sub-ohms. Albeit only @ 15 watts, it still likely won't match your mechs.

On paper, it should fire down to .6 ohm at 15 watts (remaining under amp/voltage limits). I'm running a cotton-wicked microcoil in my PT2 @ 13.5 watts right now that was 1 ohm after build, but has settled at .9 ohms. I'm diggin' it.

Just a thatnks again for posting the pic. I got the rawlered top off by wiggling after pulling the screws. My torx bit stripped trying to remove the screws from the new vtr with te ring cut off. Ill finish the swap tomorrow and should have pics.

What did you use to widen the ring? I want a VTR but don't want to be stuck with limited tanks. Plus, I love my aqua and don't wanr ro give it up
