howsit guys. here are some pics to show you guys what I did with my vtr. modded the ring to fit russian and wrapped it with black carbon.

vaping a 1.3ohm coil between 8watts and 13 watts depending on the mood.

I am totally loving this setup.

Nice work Vamoman. I wasn't sure the VTR ring would go to 22mm and a hair. I'm really liking the Black Carbon wrap. Racey

Someone mentioned taking it out to just over 22mm with a brake hone (or reamer?).
Was that a machine or a handheld tool or a chuck-into-a -drill tool or?

thanks

Brake hones are three spring loaded stones on a shaft for a drill chuck. They are used for auto brakes and master cylinders. They stay adjusted to the cylinder and apply even pressure to keep things circular for good seals when re-assembled (no leaks).

Should work very well if the stone is fine enough to not leave scratches. Dremel should build a mini hone. :)

Just a bit late with this one, Sorry

It's big, shiny & heavvvvvvy. 13.5 ounces with a modest tank mounted.
Absolutely love mine. This was the next step for me after an MVP (1), which I also liked. The only real drawback is you either need to find all 21mm or thinner tanks, use the extension tube and mount on top, or cut the ring off
It'll fire down to about 0.6ohm but imo starts getting good in the 0.8-1.1ohm range (at .6 it only takes the minimum 3 volts to hit it's 5amp limit). It will work with pretty much any setup you can think of within it's 5amp limit vtr_mod.jpg.
I would caution to either switch it off before building an RDA/RBA or build the atomizer out off of the VTR. Haven't found anyone else on line willing to admit it, but it is possible to fry this brick if you're not careful building on it.

I started modding my VTR by (brake) honing it. 5 minutes only took .005 out of .100 needed
on to the dremel, buzz, buzz 15 minutes and .020 more. ugh.
The ring was looking pretty thin so I circumcised it with a hack saw
Chucked a similarly radiused grinding stone into my 1952 Rockwell - 5 minutes and some 220 grit and voila.
I should have skipped the hone and the dremel. It hadda go wandrin' a bit

It feels just right and hits smooth.

My VTR has the threads in the revolving connection (510) wearing out!:( As far as I can see, there is no way to replace it? I noticed it today with my Kanger Pro Tank II. I put some Teflon tape on the bottom of the tank connection,to tighten it up some, but it's days are numbered! I really love this mod,but it looks like I'm moving on to something else. I've never really cared for the "revolving connection" on it though? A friend just picked up a new one,and it's 510 connection is black, and doesn't revolve?

Been chugging on the VTR for a month now. First mod, love it but a few issues.

Spinning ring causes bad ohm readings... Myepack ignored both emails and declined my review on their site... Disappointing.

Threads seem to be dieing already, lame... Does anyone have a uk vendor for the air control/thread protector things?

Such a shame because other then that i love this thing :(

No, I haven't had that happen. :(

I had the opposite happen after yesterday's accident; mine started randomly shutting off/resetting last night, doing the little light show and displaying 88.8 like it does when a battery is first inserted. Broke the whole thing down as far as I could without desoldering last night, and couldn't find any issues. Put it back together, and same thing. So I opened the battery door and took a light grit sandpaper to the contact area where the spring-loaded ground pin contacts the door. It hasn't happened since. *knocks on skull. I mean, wood...*

As a warning to other owners, the ENTIRE body of this unit is ground, not just the ring where the atty attaches. Keep that in mind when tinkering on it; I know at least one person has fried their VTR while building on it. This might be part of that explanation.

And, yes, it's a solid chunk of cast metal. I figured this is why it's so heavy.

There's a chance you can find an air flow control adaptor or a 510 to 510 connector in this UK-Ireland forum thread.

I checked the ECF Suppliers list for UK Vape supplies and didn't locate any. (there were only 3 or 4 listed but there has to be more :) )

Sitting down, facing forward.
I've had my VTR since October or November, from the first lot shipped I believe, with a rotating 510 mount. I haven't had any thread problems with it at all, but then again the same is true with my Vamos. That makes me wonder just how tightly folks are putting tanks onto these things. I'm known for making sure things are really tight, like shearing off 1/2" bolts while making sure things are tight enough, but when it comes to vaping tanks, a "light" finger snug is all I do.

I've never had mine real tight, but do change tanks a lot! I think I may have just worn it out?
