I started with the AGA-T2 as the RSST wasn't available. As for the insulated wick hole, it is nice but not that big of a deal. Even if you get a short, all that happens is that it taste like crap. If you keep firing on it supposedly you can vent the battery, but it never happened to me. I'm glad I made the switch to ceramics. I can't say it enough, but the flavor is so much better than mesh. Plus no hot spots if you do it right.

So I ordered the K100 Mechanical mod Kit last night. I'm very excited :)

But... could use some thoughts, opinions, suggestions, education, etc. from other K100 Mechanical mod users. I'm pretty much a noob with my eGo, and NEVER used a mod, know nothing about 'em, etc.

so...

Reply here! Thanks :D

Next thing you need to do is order a Stomp "kick" clone and the stopshort fuse then a 18500 battery. Thats what I did with my K101 I have now. This is a little insurance for your Mech MOD. I'm new to the vaping too but I have moved up from the 180mAh ecigs throught the eGo Batteries and the VV/VW MOD to the Mech I have a lot of all over them and buying more ever month.

Currently having issues with mine.
Bought one that came with two efest 18350 flat tops and works great. Just purchased a couple 18650 aw imr button tops and it's not misfiring, but the batteries get hot and I have to disassemble after about 5 min of being put together.
Any suggestions?

Well my black K100 is on order from FastTech and will hopefully arrive soon! I am so excited. I have heard nothing but good things about it so far. A co-worker has a K101 he swears by, but I just prefer the look of the K100. Currently my at home mod is the SVD and everywhere else is the Bolt. I have already decided that if the K100 is half as good as I have heard, it will replace the Bolt in that particular mission!
My priorities are rugged, reliability and performance. It seems the K100 has that covered. Also, I for one think it looks cool as hell :)

Got my K100 in from Fasttech and I'm a bit disappointed. The Lock Ring is seized and won't lock and the unit fires my IGO-W coil if I tighten the tubes too tight, not good. I have to assemble the unit next to my ear until I hear my IGO fire then I back off a couple turns, what the hell is that about. I'm not sure if the pin is floating, but it seems to be a fixed pin. Last gripe is the finish is more matte as opposed to shiny metallic like I hoped, personal preference though.

EDIT-Lock ring fixed PB blast helped.

If you tighten it too much, obivously that's going to make the contact touch the battery, tighten the tubes until you feel a little resistance. Then press the button to see if it makes contact. If not, tighten it a little more. The finish should've been shiny, mine was pretty shiny before I sanded it. So idk what happened to yours. The pin is floating it just isn't easy to move, I dropped ny k100 once and the pin slid all the way up. Screwing in my atty fixed that

The auto firing thing is normal for them. If you tighten them down too much, the button makes contact with the battery. I'm glad you got the locking ring unstuck.

Hey guys. New vaper here. I ordered a k100 from fasttech along with an igo-l and evod. I bought a nitecore charger, and the last thing I need is to buy some batteries. I need your recommendations as to what I should get.

I read the AW IMR and Efest IMR batts are good, but I want to make sure they are good enough. I plan to try sub ohming, but most of the time run a single/dual coil settup with 1.0- 1.5 ohm resistance. Are the IMR batts good enough for this settup? I plan to run a 2cent fuse as well.

Thanks, cant wait to get my mod!

Those are both good battery types. 18350's might not provide the amps needed for sub ohms, so I'd say stick with bigger batteries and you'll be safe. I have a AW IMR 18490 that has a 15amp limit, which is plenty enough for sub ohm

Greetings Mbonnani,

First and foremost, please be aware of the inherent risk of running a mod <1.0Ω and I highly recommend a look into this thread and the microcoil thread for great insight and tips/tricks.
As far as the batteries...
AW IMR 18650 1600mAh (Red/15C) are the business, the red 2000mAh also work great (10C). I would not recommend subohm vaping if you're going for smaller batteries.
AW IMR 18350 700mAh (Red) have a 6A limit which on SLR terms would kill it if you dropped below 0.7Ω on a freshly charged battery, not to mention the battery would be drained of life fairly quickly.

I'm not aware of higher C rating for any other 18350's.
If you're planning to run subohm I suggest sticking with larger batteries (18500/18650's) or know that your battery has the C rating required. Lastly, invest in a DMM ($20 at Home Depot), they are sufficient for reading coils.

Otherwise welcome and happy vaping! :toast:

P.S. As far as NOALOX, you only need to put small amounts on the battery contacts (clean them first), oh and any light oil based lubricant works fine on the body threading/lock ring. I can almost spin the entire bottom half of my K100 off with a good flick after rubbing the inside down with 5w-30 synth :D

I was just reading about the difference between Efest and AW batteries, which seems to be very little. I will most likely order x2 18659 and x2 18350 just so I can switch out depending on my settup. I have the nitecore i2 on order, which should be good for these batteries as far as I understand.

I have read about micro coils, and it is a very cool idea. I will be giving it a try for sure. I personally want to give various ways of vaping a try to see what I like the most.

I have read quite a few threads about battery safety, and I will only use batteries with at leeast 10A discharge for sub ohm vaping. I will also run a 2cent fuse for added safety. I probably will not do a lot of sub ohm vaping, just want to try it. :D

Does a DMM tell me the resistsnce in ohms of the coils? Can't I just use a voltometer? Or something similer with the ohm setting?

Again, thanks for the tips about noalox and the oil. I will look into that! Does everyone sand down their battery contacts for better performance?

Also another question.
What is the diff between button and flat top, and what is best for these k100?

I'm way too excited to get my vape. I have been neglecting my hookah ever since I ordered it.

Thank god this forum has an auto-save feature. Browser crashed when I hit submit.

I believe its mostly preference. I haven't owned any Efest batteries so I can't speak on their behalf but based on Lygte Battery Tests they seem to perform well. My local B&M has AW IMRs on hand for the same price as most online places so I just buy them there as they don't carry Efest either.

Yes a DMM will read ohms, set it to the 200 (lowest on most non-autoranging meters) setting.

Most people do, I have sanded 2/3 contacts on my K100, the 2 where the battery sits (pin/inside top cap), third being the inside of the 510 well's connection. I don't want to junk my threading. Honestly though I noticed a slightly less voltage drop but not a huge (omgmind explosion)

Certain mods can't fit a button top, they are longer and otherwise I don't believe there's a difference other than flat tops are generally used for battery packs in series (laptops/repacks) outside of vaping. Some manufacturers make both, one or the other. Doesn't matter. The chemistry and the safety of the battery is the main concern. K100 will take either, just threads down a tiny bit more is all.
