Yepper .... I do it either way, wind before putting the wick in, or wind it with wick already in.

So this is my new setup, I'm trying to make it so the wick moves without disturbing the coil much. So far so good. I'll fill the tank and pray now I think lol..
Chinner, the bottom coil looks a bit loose on the second picture. Also when I took off those tiny little washers that's in between the screws and posts I had less shorts.

With the washers you have a little more room for the coils IMHO, be sure thought that those little spikes on those washers are not facing the wick, they will create shorts for sure.
So I tweaked that setup until like 4am lol. Trimmed the wires, tightened the loose spots and had it firing even glow and wicking ok, but still having a really harsh bad taste/vape! Back to the drawing board!

Chinner - you have to give the wick a few days to calm down and build up some deposits.

Yeah I'm going to leave it and try a few puffs here and there to see if improves. It's my cleanest build so far so I'll hopefully only get better from here.
I'm also going to get some 325 mesh soon and maybe that will help with the VG.

Chinner - I put a 325 wick on mine with 50/50 juice and some 20/80VG, and I don't know as if I notice much of a difference. I chain vape, so I don't know if ANY sized mesh could keep up 100%.

Like Blue said, if it helps: I have my setup quite good: evenly glowing coils with a dry wick, no hotspots, no shorts, nothing. I am with my third (3/4) tank now and it is slowly getting better, I know I am not there yet. I occasionally check my coil and wick to see if all is still like it should be, vape at position 3 or 4 o'clock a few puffs and let it rest again. I also check if the liquid is actually going up fast enough after I took a few puffs and how fast, compare it with earlier to see if the capillary motion is flowing good. Hang in there, I made many enemies
with all my dumb questions and not to many people like me anymore....You will get there, be patient!!

Chinner.....one other trick you may try.........
Drip juice directly onto the wick..........fire it...... drip a few more drops.........fire it........repeat a few times

I chain vape so much I hold my Katana horizontal almost always..I am vaping around 20 to 25 mills plus a day.Chinner I feel ya.Keep it up.Everyone is very helpful hear.You will get it
