I have a question, or questions, about the cotton wicking. When I was dealing with the small coils, for T3S/protank, I didn't care for cotton, because it burns so fast in those tiny chambers. However, with my new KFL+, I've started using my P&C yarn again, because it really does carry a lot more flavor than any kind of silica, even ekowool.
However, I noted today that the wick that was working so well yesterday had started to taste burned, so I changed it, and sure enough, just at the place where it's contact with the coil, it was very dark brown. I also noted that even 3 strands of P&C seems to be too much, it swells a lot when it's soaked with e-juice, and was quite difficult to work out of the coil. So, this time I only used half a strand of P&C, 2 strands of the 4 it's made of.
My question is about cotton yarn vs. actual cotton, like from a cotton ball. Does the cotton-ball cotton burn slower, or something? Because the yarn cotton seems to burn very fast. I have a lot of this cotton yarn, but if the cotton-ball cotton is really a lot better for this use, then I'll go get some, as soon as the ol man gets home from work.
Just wondering how big a difference there really is...?
Thx!
