Is this it?
I'm seriously convinced it's either our coil not torched or dry burned enough or your wick.
I have never heard of someone not liking the taste off a kayfun. I've heard them not want to deal with them, like something better but never just getting a chalky taste. And I hate not knowing something lol

Nope, first coil was this.....

Second used some cotton balls included with the kanthal I purchased at a B&M when I left my rebuilding supplies at home. Can you say "oh chit" .....I knew you could. LOL anyone else here old enough to recognize that?

It was on my "p-thingie"
That's 32g so it's 2 ohm dual coil-
That's what happens when a nerd gets bored.

I've since taken it off- wasn't happy with its performance; but the pic gives a decent idea as to the cool layout.

im the same way, maybe not because im bored, but just because I enjoy it so much. I also have done some coils that some would look at and say whaaaaat.

Hahaha chit-

I try to stay away from "sterile" because I don't know how they made it sterile. Did they use bleach or alcohol? (Rhetorical) I stick with organic cotton that hasn't been treated. Some people boil it- I'm inherently lazy so I don't.
But you may want to try getting organic and swing how that works.

Using the same rolled cotton in my old Tobeco KF and the taste and flavor is great. Same cotton, same juice in the EHPRO KF is dust. It's driving me to drink I tell ya, it's a short drive but you get the point.

Using CVS rolled cotton, sterile I think.

that should be very good, I have always used the cvs sterile balls, not rolled, but they should be similar. so it shouldn't be the cotton. as for the coil, your 28g at 1.8mm seems like a great set up at 1.5Ω although 2.0mm could be a little more forgiving. for my vv/vw set up in the provari I do find 2.0mm to be a little more consistent with wicking. with that said though the set up you do have should be fine and as long as your coil is fairly tight and lighting up from the center out then you shouldn't have issues with the actual coil. one last question, do you run a straight coil or is it like on a 45 degree angle? when I first bought the first kayfun, I followed the svmesto recommendation of doing the coil at a 45 degree angle, this allows for the wick tails to be placed along the ledge compared to straight down like in the straight coil orientation. I have done both, straight and angled and both work fine but if I had to just use one configuration based on consistency, I would have to say the angled coil is better imo. for me, with my variables I always had less issues whenever my wick tails laid sort of across the deck ledge compared to just straight down. now believe me, I had many straight coils and straight down wicks and they have worked great but not quite as consistent as an angled coil. also maybe its assuring to know that when I do place my wick tails sort of across on the ledge, I know they are there to stay and cannot move. I know if one has a straight down wick tail that just reaches the ledge, chances are it also will not move, but there is a better chance that it could move slightly by the juice possible coming onto the ledge and pushing up on them a little, or by the device being laid down or being knocked around, or even being sucked upwards from heavy vaping lungs. believe me, I have no idea this could or has happened but I just feel like if the wicks are trapped the way I do it, this possible scenario is less likely to occur. have you tried another juice in it to see if it could possibly be the juice? I do have a couple of juices that just don't taste very good in the kayfun lite pluses. its mainly 2 strawberry vapes out of many many juices that I have vaped in the kayfun and for some reason they just taste like crap. here is a pic of how my coil looks like before its saturated. for me anyways, I have always tried to error on the slightly more then slightly less thinking on the amounts of cotton. after knowing the best placement of my wick tails there is either not enough, or to much cotton, for me It usually works that not enough cotton I get a prolonged sizzle after releasing the fire button, followed by dry hits, if to much cotton, I get a sort of nasty muted cottony taste. what I try to accomplish is having just enough cotton that I don't get that crap taste rather then trying to make my coil just big enough as to not get dry hits. and of coarse after I saturate the wick tails, I then kind of push them over so they touch the side of the ledge.

have you actually looked and taken apart this atty to make sure the airflow is 100 percent un obstructed? I know you said it seems ok but it wouldn't be the first time someone has found something inside sort of blocking part of the airflow channel. I know in my lite, if the holes don't line up, or the 510 isn't turned just right, the airflow will be partially blocked and will affect the flavor.

They are straight coils dropping to the ledge tucked back against the walls of the block. I tried once making sure they were trimmed just above the ledge. Usually I put the chimney on and trim them to the top and tuck them back in, that works fine on the Tobeco. The juices are both DIY, one strawberries and cream and the other white peach. Both juices taste almost the same, dusty, chalky with the strawberries and cream having a hint of flavor trying to fight through. I am hoping it is as you said maybe just too much cotton as I usually do have to try a couple of times to get the cotton pared down enough to slide thru nicely. Too much cotton would be the easiest fix.

Nope, have not done that yet, that will be a new adventure for me. I guess I really have nothing to lose if everything doesn't line back up correctly because it is a paperweight as is.

How do they sterilize the cotton?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think there are a couple ways its done, one is with chemicals and the other is with some sort of heat. either way everything we eat or come in contact with has chemicals so I personally feel its no big deal. as for the cotton wick, as long as your not vaping burnt cotton there shouldn't be any issues. I feel comfortable that may wicks just carry my juice and im not vaping the actual cotton. compared to 2 packs a day with cigs? I feel freaken great

theres not that many parts and really goes back pretty easily. just unscrew the 510 screw (this will loosen the positive deck under the coil)and if your clone has an afc screw remove that and see how everything works together. you have to "be the air". I use a needle and insert it, this kind of tells you how things line up and will also tell you if its clear. some use light to see thru these tiny spaces.

like I said, sometimes strawberrys don't work to well. I know you have them in another device, maybe the 3.1 you said? and are awesome, but not all attys perform the same. I have had some issues, although mainly at the 15 to 20 watts range with a couple of my strawberry crème juices which drove me nuts until I switched to a non strawberry juice and was awesome. it may or maynot be the juice but if your still having issues and all else fails, put another juice in there, something like a dessert or coffee or just something not strawberry and see if its any different

Lol- yeah I have that same thought especially with the juice-
A friend of mine from high school recently opened a vape shop- he was a chemist before. He was telling me that the cream and custard flavors contain some chemical i can't pronounce that it a well known carcinogen; so, he won't sell anything with it. - he'll vape it and share it with his friends but that's it. We live in New Orleans the mouth of the river, the nations toilet. There's nothing I can purposely put I'm my body that I don't get in there from breathing here; or using the tap water.
