I'm happy to report that simply trimming the wick and laying it crosswise so the siphon channel is open cured about 90% of the cotton taste. This is very enjoyable now, I don't think I'm going to fool with it until the Rayon comes in.

Awesome!!!!!! Glad you got it bro!!!'

I don't know if it still can be called: kayfun Lite?

That's cool. How easy is the ribbon to work with?

Lol- yeah I have that same thought especially with the juice-
A friend of mine from high school recently opened a vape shop- he was a chemist before. He was telling me that the cream and custard flavors contain some chemical i can't pronounce that it a well known carcinogen; so, he won't sell anything with it. - he'll vape it and share it with his friends but that's it. We live in New Orleans the mouth of the river, the nations toilet. There's nothing I can purposely put I'm my body that I don't get in there from breathing here; or using the tap water.

I know the chemical your speaking of and I'm vaping on it as we speak. it is something like deitalz, I know that's not it but something sort of close, just can't remember right now but my butterscotch from clouds of vapor has a very small percentage in it, it's delicious

Acetyl Proprionyl, Diacetyl and Acetoine, these are considered the bad boys.

It was something like acytline or I couldn't pronounce it moreless try to spell it. I'm an electronics need not a chem nerd for a reason lol
Whatever it is, it's in most of my juices, probably, and I'm ok with that.

That's it, I was sort of close. butterscotch from clouds of vapor states that a small amount could be present, but it's the best butterscotch I have tried.

Came in here to say hello and find some new builds, and whaddya know, another Louisiana boy. I'm from Alexandria, and laughed when you said that about the river and the nations toilet.

I may have to shoot you a PM and get some info, and make a lil vape shop road trip, we have nothing within 100 miles of Alexandria besides a head shop with a few kanger coils and ego knockoffs.

I've read so much about not needing as much cotton as people thing. I vape organic cotton ball cotton. So I figured I'd reduce the cotton and put it to where it slides back and fourth in the coil instead of being so snug that I have to really twist at both ends to get it through the rough spots.

I take big deep hits when I vape my Kayfun Lite V3 Black or Russian 91%. So since I reduced the cotton, I now have the end of the first hit or second hit go dry on me. It's always been awesome but my cotton was really tight in my micro coils and I see people advise against that a lot. My wicks are long enough that I layed them in the ledge but for the first time, I had my wick wanting to spring back up as I was tucking it against the ledge/ledge wall.

Do you guys think it's the length or diameter of my cotton or the length to cause it to dry out mid hit (I take big hits)? It's a single 30 guage 1/16" micro coil at 1.5 ohms. I usually use 28 guage at .75 to 1 ohms but decided to try 30 guage again.

Before this build every other build (I tend to wrap new coils every night or every other night although besides my kayfuns I have some RDA's so my coils usually get at least two rewick/refills) would just about roll my eyes back in my head it was so good.

Hey buddy, so just recently you have reduced the amounts? and before that you had much more and the vape was good? for me, it's in between the really tight twisting to get it in amount and the very loose amounts. for me personally if I install a cotton wick thru the coil to where it slides really easily, I get dry hits. like wise if I jam it into the coil needing to twist up the cotton to get it thru, I get muted flavor. its right in the middle imo, not to loose but not too tight

Yeah dude; send me a PM anytime- we have several shops here; and different ones seem to have gone in different directions product wise.
One shop is going there own pre patina'd mechs... Gorgeous!
As for the coils- I only change them when I'm bored. One of them has been on for over two months now. The Kayfun is so finicky on wicking. That any little change can give you a different result. Fold it down and cut it right where it touched the flor of the base and make it no longer, since it expands when wet I don't want it to bunch up and be difficult to absorb juice. It does go in thick but not super tight it's hard to explain. I fit it I'm firm- this is heading down a dark path.
Rayon on the other hand shrinks when wet. I have one with rayon that I'm experimenting with and love it. I've had the same wick for three days- cotton I was changing every tank and this is awesome! The top of the page post 11153 there are some pics of the way i have two of them coiled and wicked.

Sounds like you tried to fix what wasn't broke , I experiment but I always come back to a 28ga horizontal micro wicked with cotton ball , it works . Go with what you know .

I received a 1.5 mm brass rod today. This makes building micro coils much easier, just cut it down to the size you want with a dremel. I'm glad I took it apart again as I found one of the siphone channels blocked completely with loose cotton. This time I used sterile cotton, I figure if the cotton went thru an autoclave that's as good as boiling as some do? Anyway building gets easier each time. My rayon is due tomorrow so I may compare this Trobeca clone with sterilized cotton vs the my Ephro with rayon, all else the same.

Cool!!! Glad you're digging it man.
And I don't boil the cotton why I figure it can't be any worse than breathing in traffic. Lol

Now that I've finally figured out a proper build this tobecos kayfun lite is my best tank, I mean the flavor on the intake and exhale are just unbelievable and I'm just using a straight mechanical nemesis (18500 battery.) this is like a new dimension to vaping, hard to describe how the flavor could be so much better than the aerotank. And I think with a bit of practice I could get the time for a microcoil build under 15 minutes.

The trickiest part right now is getting the coil ends to stay under the Phillips post as I tighten down. Seems non intuitive to wrap counter clockwise and tighten clock wise. I reckon I just need more practice.

Can't wait to try the Ephro, I hope it works as well a the tobecos kayfun lite.

Thanks for all the help received here, I am looking at owning a tank that not only has incredible taste but also doesn't chew-up and spit out $1.50 heads every few days. That's a big money saver.

My advice to anyone on the fence is to watch the micro-coil you-tube video's and give it a try (exclude the Britsh one, it lead me into using way to much wick.) And use sterile cotton unless you like the idea of boiling and drying for days on end (not my cup of tea.)

So glad to hear you're happy with it!!!
    Now you're a spoiled vapor!!!
Just a quick trick I learned I keep the leads for the coil long and wrap them around the screws and pull the leads kind of snug that way they won't slip from under the screw. I also use that "rod" I wrap the coils with in the coil as I'm setting it in place so that it's a little easier to manipulate.
But you seem to have it handled bro!
    Big congrats!!!

pretty cool. so you used some round for the connections? how did you attach? and looks like the rayon maybe?

I'm sorry, I posted here but forgot to subscribe to it...

Yes, I used NR-R-NR method by welding Non resistant silver leads to Resistant wire on both ends. And, yes I did use Rayon instead of Cotton.
