Yes, I have - following your great micro coil video(s)!
I've used 24ga, 26ga and 28ga - all wrapped on a 16ga blunt tip needle and using cotton wicks from sterile cotton balls. My preferred resistance is in the .7-.8 ohm range but I've gone higher just for testing.
Wick is generally not too snug in the coil, no shoulders, with tails just a smidge longer than it takes to reach the deck - but, I've tried many different wick configurations/lengths, all with varying degrees of success but with the same ultimate outcome - dry hits after a few good vapes.
Just wanted to say, Thank You!!! for the YouTubes you've done, I haven't even been able to build mine yet and already watched them 100 times![]()
Surprised about the fill screw issue. With such a well designed atty you'd think they'd have an o ring or a better solution for the fill screw when many of us experience leakage there.
it definity sounds like you have tried it all for sure, the only thing that may play a part in it is when you say " the wick is generally not to snug in the coil" what i have found is that, i have better results with a more snug coil then one that is not. i have done coils where the wick slides in to easily and instead of re-doing it more snug, i have completed the set-up just to find that this was the culprit. i have found that as i pull the wick through its almost to the point of bunching up, these are usually better then one that slides in to easily.
Like I said, I've tried *many* different wick configurations, and "fatter" wicks are one of those....I'm hoping against hope that my 2nd KFL will be a revelation.![]()
i have often heard mention of a sizzle sound with the k-lite, some just get the sound while some may get some slight spitting, me i just get the sound and nothing comes up through the drip tip. although i have a few ideas to what it is im not 100 percent sure. for me i think i have found a pattern to it, when i do a new build with a new coil & wick i get this sound and it stays for maybe a day or less but then goes away. i know its not from a fresh battery because when the sound goes away it doesn't come back when i install a new battery. i initially thought it had to do with coil distance but unless my coil moves after a build, it cant be this. maybe its something in the cotton, like moisture, but that doesn't sound right, or maybe its the cotton when its not fully saturated?. maybe its the sound of a clean coil and once some build up happens it stops? this sound doesn't bother me nor does it effect the performance, i just would like to know what causes the sound. does anyone know exactly? and why does it go away after the break-in?

I think it happens because it takes a lot longer for the cotton to fully saturate than we think it does. I've installed new wicks, waited a few minutes before vaping, and had the sound. Eventually, it stops. I've also put a Kayfun up for the night, picked it up first thing in the morning, and had it vape perfectly, with zero noise.
An update... I've pretty much got my wicking issues resolved. I didn't have enough cotton at the channels to suck up juice as I vaped, giving me the dry hits. I haven't seen this mentioned yet but something that has helped me, after screwing on the chamber, I take a couple small bits of cotton and place them down in the chamber on top of the wick tails, this seems to further help with wicking.
Also something else I've noticed. When I change my wick, I rinse everything off and then dry burn my coil to clean it. If I don't rinse the coil again after dry burning the gunk off, I get an off/metallic taste. It's wicking and not dry but the flavor is off and I can taste the coil.. But if I rinse the coil after dry burning it, I don't get the metallic taste. This may help those who are having flavor issues.
I got my second kfl today![]()
i hope so too. anyways just for the heck of it, i will send off a coil for you to try, cant hurt.

The bad thing about vw is that you can't go past 15 watts.. I like 20 watts..
I usually wrap my coil at .9
Dna20 mods do 20 watts
They're expensive right now and there's no point in getting a vw. I think it's better if you get better at making coils cause I'm usually proud of my coils and how they hit..
Takes practice to get what you want
