I had an interesting outing today. Went Christmas shopping in Charlotte and since I was right there.. I visited one of the madvapes retail stores. I wanted to see if they had a kayfun clone and what it looked like quality wise. They had one but it looked like it was a clone of the 3.1. But anyway, I took it apart to see what was what. First off.. it's good quality.. I was impressed. It's made by EHpro. The chimney is straight, like the r91% but other than that, it's pretty spot on. Side by side I might could tell a difference, the plastic tank section is opaque instead of clear like the real kayfun.
But the most interesting part was the deck had a machine mark. Back a couple months ago I traded a sphreoid for a kfl.. the seller posted that the only flaw was a scratch on the deck. When I got it I saw the mark. When I took the one I had bought new from intaste.de I saw that it too had the same scratch in the same exact place. I posted a picture.
turns out, several people here have the same "scratch" in the exact same place.. so it has to be a machine mark. I was surprised to see a machine mark on the EHpro kayfun. I don't think it's in the same exact place as the 2 I have that are supposed to be "real" from SvoeMesto but it's there. The kayfun lite+ that I just got in from intaste.de doesn't have a scratch on it's deck.
The EHpro version that I saw today was not a kfl clone but a kf 3.1 clone.. the bottom was different, it was taller and had the fill port on the side. I just think it's... curious that both the "real" one and the clone both have scratches on the decks. I wish I could have taken a picture of it but my camera on my phone is crappy and wouldn't have focused that close.. I tried to remember the position of the mark.. it may be in the same place but I can't say for sure.
It was also interesting to hear all the talk.. the clerk was showing a new vapor how to fill some sort of top coil clearomizer... a vivi nova looking thing and telling her to replace the head (or whatever she called it) every two weeks..and said that some people use them for a month before they replace them.. the woman next to her said "I got over a month on mine!" There was a guy sucking on an ego, looking at a K100 and saying that his buddy had one of those and it gave off "a lot of smoke!" LOL He had a puritank and was trying to tell me how they have replaceable parts. (I have a puritank that someone gave me and I recoiled the head a few times and wicked it with cotton but finally put it away because I never got much flavor out of it) I just kept quiet and nodded every now and then.
I was actually embarrassed to vape with what I had with me in front of anyone. I took a provari/kfl and a roller/DID wicked with cotton with me today. The times I've been out and another vaper sees it.. they're like "what is THAT?" I don't really know what to say without feeling like I'm showing off.. which I'm not and try not to be viewed that way. I'm am proud of the gear that I have, I've worked hard for it and it's taken me a long time to get the stuff that I have. Of course I enjoy taking pictures and showing them off but I don't want to come off as an elitist snob. There's nothing wrong with an ego and an evod, I've got one sitting here in front of me that I use to show to new vapers (I don't come across that many though) I'm just rambling I guess..
