I wrote this post as a response to something in another thread but I think it should be posted here as well, I know most of this has been beaten to death in this thread but maybe it will help someone
IN MY EXPERIENCE I get a much better vape if I push my wick against the outter edge of the chamber wall right above the juice channels. Thicker juice will not flow into the chamber and onto the deck as much as a real thin juice.
Do I jam the wick into the channels? No that would not work, but I do make sure they are covered. Air still gets thru. It doesn't seal it off from air.
I know this because I have clear chambers and watch what happens. Some juices will not even hit the wick if its not above the channels, like the 100%,VG WTA liquid I vape.
My wife's 70/30 is so watery and flows so well I can roll a tight cotton wick and put it as far from the channels as possible and it still vapes well....
With my juice and the same exact coil as hers I need to have a really fluffy-non dense wick and carefully have to make sure the ends of the wick end right at and against the channels, I can't even just lay them across, or it won't wick... Chimney coil with my WTA liquid?? YEAH RIGHT. not even a chance, does not wick, yet I empty and put my wife's in without changing a thing else and it works perfect.
Again I was able to physically watch the juices flow up onto the deck, anyone having issues should hit up FastTech and spend 6$ on the clear tank and chamber and try and see what's happening on the inside till you see what works and what doesn't for your setups. Its a pretty cool thing to watch actually.
These kayfun have a bunch of factors involved into getting a consistent vape.... Nothing is "set in stone" and your way isn't the only way.
What works for one person may not work at all... Juice viscosity, wick length and density and diameter, wick placement, coil height, coil wraps, coil ohms, coil surface area and so on.... All make a huge difference and some combos will not work, some will.
