Isn't it established that an airier draw inherently results in poorer wicking? It makes sense to me simply because with an airier draw, the amount of negative pressure within the chimney from the suction is now offset by air from the airhole.

It's why thicker juice tends to do better with slightly tighter draw while runnier juice floods less with a airier draw

yeah that was one of the possibilites i thought of. Thats why i didn't wanna modify my authentic pin or my g/f's BE clone and wait to order a replacement pin and test out the results.

Hopefully a Redesign on the 4.1 will allow more air w/o any problems. Oh and does anyone know the airhole size on a 3.1?

I was getting dry hits so I squeezed the breeze (tightened the AFC) a bit and it's wicking great now.
I read about that method in this thread IIRC

70/30 pg/vg and m-l hitter for reference

I'm sure someone's style of draw has a big effect on how airy they can have it be and still get proper wicking. Both how hard they pull and how long of a draw they take.

I take a pretty soft pull, so my KFL can have the occasional wicking problem. I cover half the hole with tape since I like a tighter draw and it also helps it wick better for me.

Wow. So with the AFC screw screwed almost all the way in for you hasnt been tight enough? or were you talking about the KFL not the +?

Well I drilled out my Airhole and center pin 2.5mm (thought it was 1.9mm , it was late last night when I milled it) and I love it. Great flavor and much improved vapor at 1.4 ohms on a chimney coil . I thought the first tank I tried I goofed it up but I didn't have the Airhole on the base lined up with the side hole on the center pin. Had to put the base by the top deck in a vise to get it tighten down .

I'm blowing decent clouds with the 1.4. I'll definitely be trying a .9/.8 build tomorrow. The very opening is 2.4 mm and the center pin is just a tad over 2mm. Was afraid to go any bigger on it at the time . Was afraid it may not fire the coil as good but now I'm pretty sure it will

Well. Vapdivrr give me some courage. Decided to hand twist a double 30ga wire. Didn't even take long at all with approx 20 inches. Gonna see how this vapes

did you hand twist it? Looks like the wires prob broke prematurely because my twisted 28 and 30g have tighter twists.

I now exclusively use twisted wire on all my builds. The extra surface area and the cracks for juices is awesome.

heres my 30g twisted (could be 28)

I actually prefer a 6 wrap 28 gauge on a 3mm bit. I'm usually around 1.4 ohm and get a great vape.

I vape mostly 100vg and find the slightly larger diameter allows more cotton and better wicking.

Yup! In the most ghetto way possible. Looped the kanthal around the leg of my table, tied a knot at the end, hooked that around the clip of a sharpie cap and just hand turned it. And you're right; the thing just kinda snapped off halfway. Unfortunately I don't have a Dremel or a hand drill at home so that will have to do.

ive had to use a hanger and pliers one time while I was at my girlfriends, took FOREVER. The key is to apply a little bit of tension so you dont force it to break. Ive learned to do that on the drill. If on the plier side it snaps off then you applied too much tension, but if on the drill/hanger or the side to looped it around breaks then you prob did it right.
