Yep, great pictures Q. I was just fixing to ask about the cotton. Looks like nice long fibers. l usually use cheese cloth but I've been thinking about trying some of the Koh Gen Do pads. They're a little pricey though. I may try some Swisspers first.

When filling that cutie up trying to balance it on the table with your bottle did you drop it or knock it over at least once while taking a pic with your other hand. Lol. Looks like you would have and if not. You mgmrick are deff a pro who needs a round of applause

Not once. And those two are part of nine shots taken during the filling process ;)

KGD sounds promising, a truckload of folks from the GP thread purchased it (upon Xtreme's suggestion) and are very happy with it. I am good with my Swisspers Organic since a year now, thus I'm not finding a need to experiment.

Which Cotton Ball to use for our Wicks?

Not all commercial cotton balls are sold/offered equally. Be it 'sterile' or 'non-sterile' - these cotton balls are chemically treated and bleached* for their purification, whiteness, fluffiness and sheen. Some are done splendidly -- no or very little residue left, while some could be botched, either by design/deliberation (befitting the purpose it is sold for) or simply by carelessness/cost saving.

For our wicks it's Ok to use a good quality one from the above, which could've been treated & sold better. But that could also need some trial & error from our part. However, it is advisable to use/purchase 'Organic' Cotton Balls. Not that they are not 'treated' - they are. However, they are grown differently and handled better, which makes for a better/healthier vaping experience. I use the ones pictured below.

Honestly, I believe the cotton balls from your hospital were some of those that many have encountered here - giving foul taste. One of those produces which were of the 'deliberately' botched kind, typically the case in larger hospitals. And the one you took out from your medical cabinet were probably already the 'organic' type. Pls stick with it!

I really love the KGD cotton personally. The $12 box should last years :)

No opinions on the Nano? Is there a separate thread for it? I figured a kayfun lite thread was appropriate, but maybe I was wrong, and if so, sorry! And could someone give me a link to it, if there's a separate thread?

Thx!
Andria

I have a nano tank. I think it works fine, but volume is small-like 1.5 ml. I've forgotten what your original question was about it..

Andria, there are plenty of people on this thread who have Nano experience. The thread just happens to be in slow mode at the moment. Give the folks a chance. OK? There are days when this thread is a ghost town and then there are days when no one shuts up. Just the way it is.

I love that the kayfun holds so much liquid. I would never want to make it hold less. Just my opinion. Its just perfect the way it is.

Well, that's how I feel too but there are people who vape only a mil a day. For those people, a smaller profile would be desirable. Both the topper and the PV.

I was just afraid I had posted it in the wrong area! The topics around here are so specific, I was worried that a modification of a kayfun had its own thread, and no one would talk to me about it unless I posted it in the right thread, so I needed to find out if that was true, so I could go try to find that thread, and ask there.

Yes, I like larger tanks, for some uses -- when I'm at my folks' all day long for instance. But, since I lower my nic level at night, the larger size tank can be kind of a pain at times too -- 3 times last week since I got the kayfun, after dinner I had to break it all down, transfer whatever was left in the tank back to the bottle, clean it up and refill with the lower nic.

But, mainly I wanted a nano for when we're just out and about on short errands, grocery store, etc, just for it being smaller.

I wasn't getting really good flavor with it, but last night I think I discovered why; I was using the "less is more" axiom when I wicked it with the organic cotton, but I don't think there was enough wick; even soaked with ejuice, it was barely half-filling the coil. That doesn't really explain to me why I kept tasting *cotton* -- not burnt cotton, just cotton -- but the taste surely wasn't right, and almost no TH at all, which I knew from the full-size wasn't right.

I was talking to some others, primarily JeremyR, about battery life, and I really need higher-ohm coils if I want max battery life; apparently the folks who say that kayfuns do better with coils in the 1 to 2 ohm range may be using mechanicals, where they can't change the power setting, unlike me with my Sigelei. So I did another coil, this one a solid 2.3 ohms, and tried to do a better job with the cotton, and I did go back to the full size kayfun; this coil and this wick seem fine, so later today when I need to decrease the nic level, I'll try the nano again and see if I like it better with a better coil and wick.

You can look all over ECF and not find a more comprehensive knowledge of the Kayfun than what you find here. I don't care if you're talking about build methods, cosmetics, tweaks, troubleshoots, various kit modifiers, etc.

I know... but, given how all this stuff interacts, sometimes I need to ask a question that pertains to multiple aspects, and it seems to never fail, someone will give me the ol "off topic" reproof. My brain isn't linear, and doesn't have category markers, and if you're talking about something in one thread, and it kinda veers, if someone upbraids you about being off-topic, take it somewhere else, then when you get to the somewhere else, *if* you can find the somewhere else, you have to then fill in the info gap of all the stuff that was discussed in that other thread. It's most aggravating. But that's why I figured no one answered, they were just waiting for someone to tell me to take it elsewhere.

Too bad these things aren't as easy as cigarettes, I could just go away and not bother anyone.
