Well got a Ehpro kayfun v2 lite in, my initial impressions are mixed. I think the flavor was not up to par in comparison with the kayfun lite plus or the 3.1. They fixed the top cap issues that the lite plus version had, and there is no whistling. Perhaps i built a bad wick, but its the same build i use on the 3.1 and lite plus, about the same cotton. I got another one coming from FT, and today I see FC has the new V2 in, so I suppose I am going to have three of them. The v2 has a larger drip tip draw, its not as dense a vape perhaps that is why the flavor was off. But I was getting a cotton tasting kind of vape after abt 12 hours, which has never happened to me on a kayfun before.

Ok I read back over the various comments on my problem child... I never noticed but in that 3rd pic it's clear, there are threads in that center hole so apparently something is supposed to be there and isn't. :grr: I guess this one will just have to go to the back of the drawer, for emergencies. :grr:

At least I have 2 of the "2mm custom airflow" variety which work perfectly, and I just got that 29ga kanthal I ordered, so I should be able to make some better coils... not so flimsy as the 30ga, not so slow as the 28ga. :thumb:

love the 29g, works really good. so you feel the 28g is slow? i guess that could be true if your vaping lower wattages, what do you vape at? for me i usually vape a little higher them most, especially in my dna 20 where i do vape at 20 watts but on my provari i use the 28g a lot and when i do i make a coil at 1.3ish which gets me at the 14 to 15 watts range, at this wattage the 28g does heat pretty quickly imo. but i can see if your doing like 10 watts, at that power yes the 28g could definitely be slow. i know its a little advanced but twisted 32g is really nice in the kayfun, i find it very close to the 28g in performance but heats up a lot quicker. if you tell me your desired wattage and what mod you use, i could send you a few wicked coils to try.

In the morning, I can't vape my Virginia at more than 6w, because it has such good TH; over the next hr I go up to about 8w or 8.5w; after eating, I always go downward again by at least 2w less than what it was set at before I ate -- vaping after eating gives me the best TH *ever* and I have to be careful, as much as I love TH, too much really nudges the asthma, gives me a coughing fit that only my inhaler will fix. After that, thru the main part of the day, I generally stay at about 8 or 8.5 watts. I'd love to go to 9w sometimes, but since I'm still kinda feeling my way with the "right" amount of wicking, 9w can sometimes give me a burnt taste. Someone in the rayon thread has generously offered to PIF me a couple of small samples of the rayon so I can try it out, and I'm hopeful that it might fix my dry hit issues at higher wattage.

I was just consulting the steam engine calc, and it looks like I can make a really nice coil at 1.7 Ω, on a 7/64 bit, with 7/6 wraps of the 29ga, and that should be just about perfect. Once I get that rayon, I will probably go back to a 3/32 bit, since apparently you have to stuff the coil more with rayon than with cotton, and that 3/32 bit should let me use the 8/7 wraps you mentioned for a good microcoil. Using cotton, I find that a 7/64 bit seems to relieve a lot of the dry hit issues I was having when I was using the 3/32 bit.

Nothing wrong with using Fasttech. Have you ever used them Andria? I buy lots of things from them.
Don't waste your time with FastTech, or your money at eBay (as I did).. Kidney Punchers has them for $2.95. (the "beauty ring" is actually a kayfun ring, one of those I wasn't using because of the M-tank).

No, because for every "I got it in a week" post I see, I see about 10-20 whining about how long they take. I don't want to be a whiner, but if they took over a month, I know I would be, so I'd rather order from someplace that can definitely get it to me faster. Just saves wear and tear on my impatience circuits. :D

I placed an order from e5cigs, in Hong Kong, on the 7th, and they haven't even shipped it yet, which is already starting to frazzle me; they didn't take this long to finish "processing" and ship it, the last time I ordered from them. I know I can't even begin the 3-wk countdown till I get a shipping notice from them.

I did see something recently that I *might* order from FT; the thing is, it needs to be something that a) I can't find for any kind of affordable price in the US, and that b) I won't go nuts with impatience waiting for it. That's kind of a narrow niche, but I'm sure there are items that would fit it.

When somebody gets something for free (i.e Free shipping with Fasttech), I honestly don't think they have the right to whine about it. Sometimes it's worth paying the $2 and get it in a week. This is just my personal opinion ofcourse.

If you've never bought from them, you shouldn't tell people to not buy from them. They are a good vendor and have great prices with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. More people are satisfied with them than you know of. Including me.

I completely agree! That's why I said I don't want to be a whiner, I've tried very hard to leave childish behavior behind me, and whining really is childish. Don't know if any of you recall it, but maybe about 2 months back there was a post "Why YOU shouldn't order from FT" -- and I took it to heart -- it's on the other side of the planet, so it's going to take longer to get here, and get thru customs, than something from the next state over, or really any state in the US -- if you can't wait gracefully, then just don't order from them! If it's something you won't have a connimption fit waiting for, then DO order from them, because you can save a lot of money. This sounds perfectly logical to me.

For instance... I might order a 3rd KFL+ from FT; I already have 2 that work great, so I don't think I'm going to expire if I don't get another 4 days after I order it.

I didn't say don't buy from them; I said "don't waste your time with them" because that's exactly what's at issue, TIME. If they have all the time in the world and not a single urge to impatience, then FT is great! But, if anyone wants something in a *reasonable* amount of time, and it can be found in the US for a *reasonable* price, then why mess around waiting for soemthing from the other side of the planet?

definitely the wider one goes in the diameter, the more forgiving it is with wicking in the kayfun. love to try the rayon myself and probably will give it a go for sure. yes i can see with the power your using the 28g would be a little slow so the 29 should be great. it just takes time to get it all working just right but starting out with a good tight micro coil with the right length for wick coverage is a must. i think all who start out with the kayfun, using cotton, needs to start out by using a diameter in the 2mm range, have at least 8 wraps, 10 being even better, and upwards to 12 and having a relatively tight coil, also setting the coil around 1.5mm above airhole. from here you can practice amounts, densities, and placement of cotton. if starting out with coils that have minimal wraps like in the 5,6 and 7 range, also coils that are spaced and gapped just add to the aggravation and add time in the learning curve of this atty. now a silica wick is different, in this type one can use more minimal, spaced out wraps.

Sounds good... I checked the steam engine again, and I could do a coil with 8/7 and it would only nudge the ohms up to 1.8, so that might be better. I'm just about to go try it out! :thumb:

im not saying a 5 wrap cannot work at all in the kayfun but much more wick coverage would work a lot better and more consistent.

I use a 5 wrap on mine, but I'm using the MM wire. Unbeatable for KFL/Russians IMHO.

Ok, I did the 8/7 wraps; for some reason it came out to 1.9 ohms; I suspect leg length, since I really have no idea how to figure that, but 1.9 ohms is still perfectly acceptable; my preference is really for anything between 1.6 and 2 ohms.

Compressing it did work better than with 30ga, though I did mess up the first one I tried, I think by squeezing a bit too firmly while firing -- ceramic tweezers, I'm not crazy, I assure you. It's defintely easier to compress than 28ga, but not as flimsy as 30ga, so I had more success with the 2nd one, which is the one that came out to 1.9 ohms.

I'll know more once the wick breaks in and I use it thru the day, but I think it's a good 'un. I'm definitely getting better at the wicking; I managed to get it smoothed down but not rolled tightly except at the very end where I needed to thread it into the coil; it moved in the coil very easily, very little rubbing on the coil, just barely touching it all around.

Love the Mundy wire and use it alot. no doubt the wrap count is different because of the width of each wrap compared to regular kanthal. I also feel like the Mundy can handle slightly more cotton as well

Throw me in the "unsatisfied" column. Had two experiences with SlowTech. Ordered a backup mod. Took them two weeks. Fine, I knew it would and I was in no hurry to receive my stuff so I didn't mind. Not a problem. But the thing was defective and it took them a full (to the day) three months to make the exchange. That was enough for me. The savings I realized was no where near worth the wait. This boils down to people who have had no problems Vs people who have. I have and I don't want to mess with SlowTech anymore. Just not worth the 20% savings. Just me, just my experience, just my take on it. Not speaking for anyone but myself.
