darn, Cisco that looks just like yours!! I can't believe how much they look alike. wow ;)

Looks like they went back to the machine shop and did some fine tuning,The pictures that are up there now show a nicer looking unit then the original.Still a little pricey but whatever the market will bear.....:)

Cisco ... Nice Work ...

What About The Rubber Grommet ???
Around The PCB Pos Battery Terminal Spring ...
Does It Get ReInstalled Or Discarded ???
I reinstalled it . It prevents the positive of the battery from shorting out on the (negative) pointer casing.
you can push it back in when it's all reasembled from the bottom.

Well I finally made it.
It was quite easy.
510 mod.
Used a 401 USB charger for the connector - remove tag and remove the screw - split case and the connector is there with two wires attached. Unsoldered the connections and now I have a board to make a USB charger with an led.
Connector was larger than the nose cone but there was a ridge that was around a 1/4" diameter and a little bit more than a 1/8" deep, so I drilled out the nose cone just undersized and used a round file and twisted it clockwise which make groves in the nose cone area. I then pressed it in. Did not need to cut down the area above the threaded part either (the threads that screw into the nose cone). Put in some groves or slots for air for a atomizer (small file) as there are none with the connector.
All in all - came out pretty good for my first mod.
Thanks Cisco!

This thing is designed for A 3.6v 10440 (look at post #3 and #6).

I saw that vp1, its the same shell with a hacked up connector and a some poorly drill holes around the connector for the low price of $99.00. The VP2 is some weird looking 2 pc thingy with some more poorly machined parts for the low price of $129.00.
Here is a link to a close up shot of both of them, I am almost embarrassed to look at them....8-o http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-91978753308350_2064_1581641

Indeed, the VP1 and 2 do seem to be overpriced (and a ripoff of your design?).

However, not all of us are mechanically inclined. Those of you modders who hang out in this subforum a lot may forget this. [For example, I was a very good student in HS, but I did get one 'C' - in shop.] I am a frequent visitor here, fascinated by what you talented folks are coming up with, but unable to replicate it.

And, in addition to all-thumbs men like me, there are women (most of whom are not mechanically inclined).*
*:w00t: Before those with XX chromosomes send me hate mail (or hate male, for that matter;)), please know that I intend that statement as a generalization (i.e., statistically sound, while acknowledging many exceptions), not as a stereotype (i.e., everyone in the group has this trait).
Cisco, unless you (or someone) manufacture and sell your mod at a more reasonable price than VaprLife, I and (and most vapers) will have to do without ... purchase the VP1/2 ... or wait for the Puresmoker Protege (which I expect will be quite similar to the VP2).

Thanks for hearing me out!

Its not a "Rip off of my design" I didn't design it, I just modded it. I have no rights to this laser pointer, the company thats makes it could probably sue me or any one else that commercially sells there intellectual property. If I felt the need to keep it to myself and sell it I would have never posted a mod guide for it. The second I made the first one I knew it was sweet looking and it was easy enough that most people could probably do it themselves. I could of put up a web site and sold a Sh*t load of them and made a sh*t load of $$$, but that's not what I am about. There are plenty of members here that will make mods for others (including myself) at a reasonable price and through PM's not publicly in the forum. There is also some real nice "made from scratch" PV's available

My original post commenting on the vp1 and 2 were from pictures that are no longer on the site. It was a half assed looking mod for $100.00. Now they have updated the pics and the mod to look a lot nicer. IMHO, now this is only my opinion, its a bite overpriced considering the cost to make it and trust me, I know what it costs to make it including fabrication time.People will pay, because like you said, some people don't have the ability to mod themselves but at that price I feel its talking advantage.

Heres comes the train........

As implied in my previous post, I know virtually nothing about batteries or electronics. Is this "UltraFire 10440 AAA Li-Ion 3.6V Rechargeable Battery 500 mAh FLAT TOP CR10440 Lithium Ion" the battery that works in your LaserVaper?

It doesn't say "protected." Does that mean that it is unprotected and, if so, what does that really mean? Is there a chance it might blow up in my face?

[I'll PM you with another question.]

Unprotected means there is no built in over-charge or dis-charge protection. What does that mean in english? IMHO, not much, over charge protection is disregarded if you use a quality charger that itself has built in over charge protection. Over dis-charging a battery in a PV is impossible because vapor production will stop way before the battery reaches that level. Are they 100% safe? No. Are protected batteries 100% safe? No

Its just my opinion, I will use unprotected batteries if thats all thats available to me.

FYI: Every e-cigar on the planet uses unprotected 10440 batteries, I have never heard of even 1 incident, so use your own judgment.

I've ordered another 10 pointers to make for forum friends .. I can't be seeing people spend silly prices for what essentially costs £10 to make, if that..

Working On New Battery Connection ...
Pos Terminal Spring Contact Seem's Kinda Flakey ...

Just A Thought ...
What Do You Guy's Think About The Case Being The Positive Contact ???

dseanor,

You can put the battery in either way you like, doesn't matter, unless you have an LED.

By the way,nice job...:)

Thanks Cisco - you inspired it for sure. Have used it most of the day and I tell ya the battery last much longer than the standard 510 batts.
Seems to even hold the higher voltage longer - ya know when you first use a battery right off the charger the hit is very good. But after 10 or so hits you can see (feel) the decrease in vaper production. Just ordered a couple of batteries with a charger. I am a happy camper for sure. Thanks again Cisco.
