I know Mark.. I 'think' that same thing all the time... but I still haven't convinced myself to try the Tropical Punch that turned out to have the blue & red coloring in it (didn't realize until I got it home.) I have used one with caramel color though

Call me crazy.. But I sucked down a pack and a half a day for 20 years!! With how many toxic chemical compounds!! I don't think "red#40 or blue#1" can come close!! We all inhaled this nasty stuff for years. It might be a little premadona-ish to eliminate a great flavor because it has a color in it.. (just my 2 cents)

My sister came over Saturday and we had a juice making party! :D

Tried out more of the Lorann flavors I'd gotten but hadn't made yet. New flavors we made were Chocolate/Hazelnut, Caramel, Strawberry-Kiwi and Butter Rum.

I loved all of them but the Choc/Hazelnut. I liked it okay the first puff, but got tired of it quickly. I wasn't all that crazy for Chocolate Mint either when I made it before. I'm thinking I'm probably not really going to like any chocolate type flavors. We mixed up some BIG bottles of all our old favs too: coffee, english toffee, pralines & cream, cheesecake, blackberry -- and filled up my new 3ml pastic bottles for taking on the go... we had so much fun. I'm feeling pretty 'rich' in juice right now! :D

Hubby ran out of his riskee and had been missing it. He had some JC original tobacco and added some of the carmel juice to it and said it tasted pretty darn good (though didn't say he'd give up riskee for it!)

Since I bought the PG I've decided that I do like it much better than the VG for mixing.. so I used 3 parts PG and 1 part VG. Since the PG isn't as thick as the VG I didn't need to use the distilled water to thin it out and it came out great! :D

Ok First off I am not a chemist. I do work with chemicals (oxidizers mostly) for work.
Red#40 is what is known as a "coal tar" dye or "azo" dye and chemically named 6-hydroxy-5-[(2-methoxy-5-methyl-4-sulfophenyl)azo]-2-naphthalenesulfonic acid. Its melting point is 300c. Blue#1 is also a "Azo" dye so they are chemically close . Now what does all this have to do with us? Well PG vapor point is 220c and VG is very similar. Now since our supporting liquid (PG or VG) is vaporizing well below the melting point of the dyes they are simply carried in particulate form (no chemical change) in the vapor.
FDA has said that both red#40 and blue #1 are safe for foods. I am not saying that either of these dyes inhaled into the lungs is safe. BUT and its a big BUT there is no chemical change in these dyes when vaporized in either VG or PG.
Just thought this might help a bit..

Thanks for the info Mark :D I may get the bug to at least try a small sample of the Tropical Punch just to see what it tastes like :) It does sound really juicy & good... and it might make a really good special 'treat' for just a puff or two anyway... ;)

I am not sure if anyone has brought this up but I found americanspice.com has many of the flavorings that lorann has with colors, without. Such as Root Beer, Tropical Punch and Grape.

Also doing a simple (and not very scientific) experiment I dripped some of the LorAnn flavors on a hot pan to see what sort of residue they left behind it seems that Yellow 5 and Blue 1 in their Creme to Menthe leave very little to nothing, but Red 40 in peach leaves behind some visible residue, the worst were Caramel Coloring in Root Beer and Vanilla Butternut, left massive amounts of residue.

Rat --nice find, but watch the FDC yellow number 5--that is Tartazine which has Asprin cross-sensitvities--do not what to be vaping that!!! I will check American spice out though--Thanks Rat------Sun

Speaking of Aspirin allergies you may want to avoid wintergreen as it contain Methyl salicylate as a salicylate can cause allergic reaction to those with sensitivity to it.

Hello everyone :)... This is my first post on this forum.

I placed my first order from puresmoker on Friday and am anxiously waiting to get my very first e-cig (well I actually ordered 2 different types and a ton of other stuff ) All the recipes that y'all are mixing up are making me even more anxious and HUNGRY :D

Basically just wanted to post and say hi and thank you all for such a great informative thread. I soooo hope this is going to be the thing that gets me off these disgusting things. I've been smoking since I was 17 and I am so ready to find something that will finally help me stop :(

I look forward to mixing up yummy things with you all in the very very near future.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi Silky :D

Will be nice to have another "mad recipe" creator join in! I'm guessing you'll love e-cigs like we do... and making up your own juice recipes makes it even more fun! :hubba:

Mark & mixxy - Thank you so much for the sweet welcome :)

It will be an honor to be a part of the "madness" :w00t:

I got an email a couple of hours ago from Steve at puresmoker and he said he was packing my order. I told him I wanted a mailman with a lead foot and a V8 engine :p (I'm only about an hour away from him, so hopefully it shouldn't take more than 1 day-- even on a slow donkey).

Weeeeeee I never thought I would be this giddy about it, but I am

Geez....you could probably walk over and get it faster than usps...lol

Welcome aboard Silk :)

Lu

LOL Lu, I was considering it, but I was worried that Steve would enlist me to help him carry the 800 boxes, from the orders he got on Friday, to the post office

Have a great Tuesday, I'm off to get some sleep, my eyes are crossing from reading so many posts on this forum

Cool... I will have to check out AmericanSpice.com

I use Creme de Menthe and Peach and caramel (didn't like rootbeer). I only add 1 or 2 drops of peach to the peach VG from JC and 1 or 2 drops of the creme de menthe to the arctic mint VG from JC and the caramel I have used to mix my own flavors or add to the tennessee cured. I use the flavors that have colors in VERY small amounts (1-2 drops per ML or so) and I have not had any adverse reactions yet (and I am sensitive to EVERYTHING lol!).... so... while I do not advicate putting artificial colors in your lungs.. I am not dead from it yet.

I do not however use anything that says it is not "water soluble".. strictly cause I care more about my atomizers than my lungs. Is that so wrong?

Spikey.........My LorAnns wintergreen say's "partially insoluble in water" I tend to stay away from it for that very reason:)The Wiz!

Spikey--FDC Yellow Number 5 (Tartizine) is one of the very very food colorings that must be actually disclosed that it is in a product because of cross-sensitivites with not only aspirin but a host of issues. As reitereated here:

Dipalma JR.
Hahnemann University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Tartrazine (FD & C Yellow No. 5) is an approved azo dye present in many drugs and food products. During the 1970s, many cases of tartrazine sensitivity were reported. This led to new regulations that required the listing of azo dyes on package inserts of drugs and on packages of food products. Tartrazine sensitivity is most frequently manifested by urticaria and asthma. Although azo dyes have been implicated in accentuating hyperkinetic syndromes, tartrazine is not considered an offender. Vasculitis, purpura and contact dermatitis infrequently occur as manifestations of tartrazine sensitivity. Cross-sensitivity in aspirin-sensitive and NSAID-sensitive patients may also occur. The mechanism of sensitivity is obscure and has been called pseudoallergic. Management consists mainly of avoidance of drugs and food products that contain tartrazine.
PMID: 2239641 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE

So I point that out as we do not know how people will react to actually vaping Yellow 5---Many people are allergic to it but do not even know it because all they present is a headache which they attribute to something else----

As for the Wintergreen, you are right on there--it is a no go for our atomizers---Sun

I am not a doctor so I cannot say with authority but since the issue isn't heat if you can ingest it without problem you can likely smoke it.

Methyl Salicylic is slightly soluble, it will dissolve but you may have to skim the surface afterward to get rid of the excess if you overload the solution.
