Black snakes are good snakes, they eat your mice :?:

Eating mice isn't good enough. They only eat about 1 mouse per month. Sticky traps get 3 a night in 2 traps on a good night!

Away from the house all but rattlers are allowed to live. This one was about 4 foot. Once last year DH saw a rattler and was gonna kill it then he saw the tail in the weeds again and it wasn't a rattler, then he saw the whole picture and it was a bull snake swallowing a live rattler head first. He let that one live and even told him he did good before he walked away.

I haven't been able to keep a cat here. The coyotes kill them and the cats won't stay in the barns because the foxes live under them. I would love to have several outdoor cats here!

Not all black snakes are good. Some are poisonous especially in south ga. I got stuck on the steps with one under me when I was little. Worst hour of my childhood. They got it and killed it. I won't go back to dead lakes ever again.

There was a black snake lived in DH's barn. His dad said leave him alone he will eat mice. He liked to crawl in the rafters and drop on them when they went into the barn (can't see going into a dark barn from the sunlight). He dropped on DH's shoulders one day and DH killed him and buried him, never told his dad what happened to that snake but he still hates black snakes too! I guess they are common in Kansas too.

I think even as a child I would have just had heart failure and the snake would have drown when I wet myself!

DH says he thinks the snakes are getting close to the house as cover when they move across the area (maybe because of the nightwhawks nesting in the tree just a few feet from the house. Nighthawks don't eat snakes but maybe the snakes don't know it. Then again in the last couple of weeks the mice are suddenly coming in like crazy too. I think it may be from the heat and the drought.

How was work today Dale?:)

GG how is your crochet coming? I will have to wait on washcloths til I use up this other yarn. Any good ideas for the 9 white and the 9 lavender? I like the colors well enough just not the weird texture.

Dale I gave away so much yarn, plastic canvas, fabric, craft stuff to the seniors when mom passed that they said they had all they could take for a while! Anything mom felt was worth buying was worth buying in multiples of too many!

Kitteh, hope you get off soon and get a little family time and a good nights sleep!:)

Lavender Shawl? White Shawl?
Lavender and white afghan?

I've never been good at deciding how much a skein will make. They are "Bernat" baby coordinates, 5.6oz sports weight, 75% acrylic, 22% rayon and 2%nylon. It's not smooth like yarn should be (in my opinion) but kind of squiggly... There are also 3 each of light blue and light yellow.
