Maybe Clyde can comment better on this...
One of the things that is easing my decision to get the Chalice is that is does not require the use of NR wire. I've been playing a lot lately with the Vivi Nova, and have had some relative success rebuilding it with Kanthal and cotton, though most folks still recommend using NR wire for the legs to avoid burning the rubber seal (I've not had this problem, but it does still concern me).

This has lead me to research other rebuildables and the thing that always gives me pause on products like the Ody and Penelope is that I would have to use NR wire for the legs. Not only does it seem more complicated, its another item I have to have on hand. And don't get me started on SS mesh. I know many folks claim its the best, but try as I might I just could never get it to work for me. I ended up selling my genesis attys in frustration.

What I'm getting at is that the Chalice appears to be my ideal solution. I've already proven to myself I can wrap a piece of cotton with wire and get a fantastic vape. The Chalice looks like it will afford that same experience on my beloved bottom feeders. If all goes as planned, within the month my vaping routine should get much more simplified. I have a good supply of Kanthal, and I can source cotton locally or through Amazon. Add to that some recent DIY joose success and I should be free from the frequent, and costly ordering routine that I've lived the last several months.

By looking at the photos of the wire and wick build in the supplier thread, I think you are golden. I know what you mean about the pain of adding the NR wire in the mix. With my viva novas, I totally gave up with rebuilding. As much as I love my provari. I turn more to my REO for fiddle free experience, and the Chalice should make it better. Down to my last io6 now.

I'm with you, hildicat. I can't wait. I actually saw, held, vaped on the one Clyde had, and it looked simple enough that I thought it'd be easy. Ha. Keep in mind, it's totally my first venture into the land of rebuildable. I'm very excited to start playing with it. I've been reading, reading, reading, and I think I will be fine. I'm ready to start playing. This (I got the polished Chalice II) with my REOs will be perfect.

How was the draw :)

That is what is going to make or brake this for me.

My Mark-T, the predecessor to the Chalice, has a draw similar to an 801, but I did notice something... Since the air intake is just a hole in the the side, you can tighten up the draw by putting the wick more in front of the hole.

Thanks :)

That helps a lot. the 801 is not to bad, but I have done what you said on a few other RB attys I have and it works well.

Wayne, I think it will (work like you think....hope). When I tried out Clyde's, I was using an HH-357 that day and I didn't notice much difference. However, I wasn't paying that much attention to the draw for two reasons...1) I hadn't even thought I was maybe going to get one (had always been intimidated by rebuildable...I'm a little ole' lady :)); and 2) he was using a tobacco juice in it, and I HATE tobacco flavors. Period. But I do remember it being a beautiful piece of hardware and I remember liking the draw just fine. Couldn't tell that much difference from the 357....it's just that I didn't totally FOCUS on the draw, so it's hard now to talk about it. I really, really liked it. It fed just like anything else on a REO, and other than the taste, it worked just like my regular attys (usually 357s) without anything noticeable. I wish now that I'd focused on every little thing so that I could talk intelligently about it. But read what Clyde says about it.....he has used one for a few months now....and he loves it. Looking back (at our meeting at the Tulsa vapemeet) now, I remember Clyde asking me several times how I liked the draw....and I think that each time I made some smart-... remark about his juice! Ha. Anyway, I think we will be very, very pleased with these. Honestly.
