I tested out the chalice in all my REOs yesterday. It fit fine and was great in my VV Woodville. All of my others it would barely catch or not make contact. Would not fire in either of my monkeyboxxes. It is now stuck in my 18490 Woodville with no hope of getting it out. Using it in Wood Reos is kinda scary because the cup goes up so high and if it gets cranked down too hard accidentally their is no way to get it out. I was experimenting for you guys and should have just left it in the VVW. So it fits in the Grand, VVW, and VVGrand. (assuming). Your catch cup may vary. Anyone have any ideas how to get this out let me know.

That's a bummer! Maybe wrap something cold around the Chalice for a couple minutes and see if that will do it.

Put the entire thing in the freezer for over an hour. The threads on top cap screw on the same direction as tightening the atomizer down so if it gets too tight you can only use the bottom portion to get it off or the top just screws off.

You could try what I/we always used to remove a broken, stuck light bulb from a socket: cut a piece of raw potato about the size of the catch cup, then cram it down onto the Chalice base and twist it out. Should/might work. Good luck.

EDIT: I'm thinking you can get the top portion off....and that the bottom is stuck in the catch cup below the rim. My solution will work to extract the bottom out of the catch cup after you have the top part off. The potato will be dense enough to actually grab the posts and unscrew the whole thing (bottom) out.

What would make the resistance go up in a coil after you start using it? I made one last night that measured 1.8 ohms. It worked great for a couple of hours. Then I noticed it was decreasing in vapor production and when I rechecked the ohms it was at 4.1. What do I need to do when coiling to prevent that?

BTW, I made one at 1.2 ohms this morning and it is freaking fantastic on the Grand with the 18650 battery. I've climbed down off the fence and dropped on the side of loving this thing. :)

Damm if it makes that jump regarding resistance only thing i can think of is maybe the wire is a bit loose on the posts ? Resistance normally goes up just a bit when breaked in, try doing dry burns to clean the gunk on the coils but i doubt it will make resistance go that high.

What wire are you using and how many wraps ? Its possible you where having a lr due to a short and now it "fixed" by itself.

That's very interesting. I am worried that the posts aren't sturdy enough to get it out and would just bend and ruin the chalice.

Roxxette,I used a 33 gauge nichrome and it was this wrap:

One thing I did wrong in that wrap was to pull one of the legs back to the front to insert it because for some crazy reason I had in my head, I thought they could only be inserted in one direction. I figured out this morning that I could insert the wire from either direction so I don't have the wire running back over the top to the post. It could be that I didn't tighten them enough because I'm chicken about tightening them too much since Clyde posted something about it messing up the posts and making them harder to thread.

Finally got my Chalice out of my W18490. Wrapped some masking tape and cloth around the teeth of some small channel locks Came out in pristine like new state. Very pleased with that. It's back at home on the VVW running at 4.2 V on a 1.6 ohm coil. I have just been putting the coil in the position it came in leaving one wick longer opposite the air hole to let it wick upside down. Flavor is great. Running it with 12mg Pink Spot. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1345136683.238328.jpg

Dan, I know what you mean....but unless you just really, really cranked in on tight, I think it'd be fine. The raw potato will go clear down to the bottom of the chalice, covering (and using) the whole post for leverage. They will be held upright by the density of the potato, so they shouldn't get twisted or bent over in any way. When you twist it to unscrew it, it should just unscrew pretty easily then just come out with the potato after it's all the way unscrewed. Use a big enough piece of potato (you can clean the mess up later... LOL) to go down over the chalice and the catch cup and just twist.

I understand your being a little nervous. BUT.....I know you don't want to take pliers to it either...
You just need enough pressure to get the unscrewing started.....I am pretty sure it would be fine.

I'm so bummed! I still can't get a good vape off mine. I know I set it up correctly but barely any vape comes out and no taste.
:(

My first correctly wrapped one measured 2.2ohms so I tried as low as 3.7v all the way to 4.7. Nothing.

Don't feel bad, keeks - I'm struggling with my own coils as well. I've had a little bit of success using a screw to wrap the wire around, then unscrewing the coil off of it and 'screwing' a cotton wick into the coils. I'm still using too much wire somehow (34ga, 2 loops + legs comes out to over 3ohms) and I just can't get anywhere near the vapor production out of my homerolls as I do from the pre-rolls that came with the Chalice.

Persistence. We'll get it beat, just need to keep at it and refining techniques.

Thanks Dave :)

Is the Nichrome pretty flimsy? The one that came with the Chalice is very flimsy and thin, very difficult to get through the holes.
Are you testing the resistance after the wires have been cut?

I wish I would have tried the rolls that came with the Chalice before popping it out. I keep moving it around and trying different things but very little vapor or taste.

You're right. We can do this :D

Oh and I wrap mine the same way, I grab the cotton and straighten it out against a straightened paperclip. That way is so much easier to wrap the coils around the cotton.
