The one in my pic was still slightly moist not saturated of course but left moist residue on my fingers. The same was with another one I had opened that had a similar but smaller burn spot. The third one was more moist then the other two and had no burn marks.

Hmm. Were they maybe burned dry and then refilled? Given that my manufacturing flaw is apparently not the norm, it stands to reason there may be something else going on to physically burn them.

Nah my folks don't refill yet they have only experimented with liquids in a few blank cartos not using anything but Bloog prifilleds atm. They vape till the flavor starts to get weak and replace the carto then.

In another thread I found a way to do a burn that seems to help the burnt taste.

Thanks Dee, I just spent the last hour reading that whole thread. While 75% of the techie data went whoosh over my head, I got the gist and it was very informative. Seems like most of our recent autopsies and burn reports would have been best placed on that thread. Maybe someone who knows how could put a link back on there to these.

Whoa. Check out the dissection in that thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...negative-result-still-result.html#post2403143. Notice that it has the same fat white ring! So either this is a recurring problem with the 1st and 2nd batches, or someone used leftover 1st batch casings in mine...

Interesting thread and a good read. I'm gonna add that the reason these things look like a white ring is because a good amount of the adhesive is being applied, and when assembled its forming at the bottom of the carto causing it to look like what some perceived to be a white seating ring.

The only thing I can say is that the silicone ring had almost none of the white Adhesive attached to it. But the flavor was amazing after the "wet burn". I guess I would call it more like priming or cleaning an atty with a "dry burn". But I do not want to do a dry burn on these things cause of the possibility of burning the batting. I took the guys advice(the link I post) and devised my own "wet burn".

But it does work to get the burned taste out of my cartos anyway and I can get several days use out of one when I do it.

What is this "wet burn"?

I take a full carto and take a big drag. I then blow the vapor back into the carto. The battery keeps working and burning, you can hear it sizzle. I let the battery burn until it stops and blinks at me. I then remove the carto from the battery and blow out through the top of the carto to clean out any burned junk. I do this 2 or 3 times. Fill the carto back up when needed to keep the filling moist. When I am done I fill it again, it is amazing. I am also using about 55% to 60% VG liquid.

The only thing I would be leery of is blowing back into the carto and accidentally pushing liquid into the battery and killing it. But with enough practice that probably wont be a problem either.

That's exactly what I was thinking while reading it. But it is interesting!

How are you preventing that from happening, DeeLeeKay?
