I've got to say, I never minded much how the normal 510 leaked when it was freezing, but now that I have the eGo, I mind. A lot. I was outside most of the day, and whenever I took out a 510, I had sticky fingers. With the eGo, not a problem. I only got a bit of liquid onto my fingers when I had to change the battery, but that was once a day as opposed to evertime I took a vape. It does leak somewhat below the cover, but you don't get that over your fingers. And when you are out and about, an opportunity to wash your fingers is not always nearby.
Now I don't think that was what Janty had foremorest in mind when they designed the eGo, but it's definitely a great advantage.

Like the normal 510, it performs great when it's cold. I only have to mind which liquid I take; many really taste quite crappy when it's freezing. Oh well, there's enough left to vape.

And, showed it to a few people who had only seen pens before, they thought it looked perfectly cool. Hope to get them to vape, but seems, the slightly larger size does not necessarily deter people. Which is great. I think I'll move the eGo from my 2nd recommended PV to first. (First so far was a normal 510.)

Actually the cover was designed to keep leaks inside, and to heat up the atomizers , while making the unit look beautiful so yes.. it was exactly what i had in mind while i designed it ;)

Glad to hear youre liking it so far!

- Just thought id chime in on that one!

Have a nice weekend!

Oops ... and there was me, only remembering that it was meat to heat the atty. :(
The no-sticky-finger concept works perfectly, though. Was out the whole day, walking, snow, no sticky fingers. And of course only a spare battery (which i did not need) and one bottle of liquid. Much less to carry. Very nice.
Good job, Mik :D

you did a wonderful device, my 1st impression should have been more enthusiastic as it came out. the 1st impression i wrote ( translated here too )
on the german ERF board is full of positive feedback of customers.

today one of our most experienced members, who said never to use a industrial manufactured e-cig again, cleaned his workbench and put his own made devices in the drawer for backup, puffing away his new eGo.

this and the other feedback from the thread shows me clearly which device i recommend to newcomers in the future.

thnx again for a very good designed product mik.

YEA!

UPS just dropped off my new Janty eGo. Looks very cool. First few vape-hits not too bad. I am sure I will be messing with it enough to drive my wife crazy for a bit. Oh well. :D

FYI - Mik
You've probably already been made aware of this, but... on your insert, ASSEMBLY is misspelled - ASSEMBY. Hope you didn't print too many this time...

This thread was originally posted in the Reviews forum but I wanted to post it here where it will be easier for other/future Janty customers to find and hopefully not get buried so quickly ;)

I received an eGo for the purpose of the wandering reviews on February 06, 2010 and used it exclusively until last night (February 19th @ 7:15pm).

A disclaimer of sorts:

Even though this product is something that was sent to me free of charge, for a limited time for the purpose of review, anything that follows is still my honest opinion. I would not want to get duped into or talked out of buying something based on the untrue opinion of another and therefore wouldn't take the time to write something I didn't believe to be true that would lead to either of those two things happening to others.

The following quote is of my 3 day impression of the eGo which I had already posted on the forums but wanted to include here with the final review also.

I was one of the people chosen for the wandering Reviews of the Ego. I have two weeks to test the unit before doing a final review so I'm going to keep this 3 day initial impressions pretty short.

Appearance: The combination of black and stainless steel is a look I really like. Unobtrusive logos are a definite plus.

Size: I don't really pay attention to the spec measurements so I was pleasantly surprised to see that it is only slightly larger than my laser mod.

Battery life: Terrific and consistent.

Cone: I do see where it makes a difference but so far, in my experience, it isn't a consistent difference.

Overall: If I had to make a choice right now on whether or not I was interested in purchasing one I would have to say yes. But I'll see how the next 11 days go.

I know I left a lot out of this but this is just my initial required 3 day report. I have been, and will continue, using this unit exclusively for the time I have it and go into much more detail in my final review of it.

And now I'll expand on these points and give my final thoughts on the eGo after having used it for 2 weeks.

Appearance: As I said above I really like the look of the eGo. It does come in other colors, white and silver, but the black with stainless is the perfect look for me. It turns out the unobtrusive logos that I mentioned above are even less than I thought. The batteries I received have the eGo name printed on them in white and, as I recently found out, it turns out those batteries were a "mistake" and the eGo batteries no longer have that logo. So the only logos on them are the barely noticeable Janty printed on the stainless ring around the battery around the button and the logo on the end of the battery. The subtle branding is definitely a plus.

Size: The length of the unit is only slightly longer than a stock battery and even though it obviously has a larger diameter than one it isn't huge. For myself the size is quite nice and, while obviously larger than a cigarette, I don't think that anyone would have a hard time getting accustomed to it. The thing I like most about the design of this is that you can stand it on end and therefore I end up setting it down more often than my other devices because I don't have to worry about where I'm setting the mouthpiece.

Battery life: I'm horrible at keeping track of such things on a regular basis but since I knew I'd be doing this review I decided to keep an exact (rounded off in 5 minute increments) log of the length of use on each charge. I use multiple different atomizers and flavors/types of liquids in the course of a day so to figure those factors into battery life just wasn't possible in most cases. All of the following times represent using the battery right up until it flashed and needed to be recharged.

1st battery: 12:15 p - 4:15p - slept- 9:30p - 4:35a (11hrs 5mins)
2nd battery: 4:35a - 11:35a - slept - 8:25p - 12:35a (
11hrs 10mins)
3rd battery: 12:35a - 11:45a (
11hrs 10mins)
4th battery: 11:45a - 4:30p - slept - 1a - 8:15a (
12hrs)
5th battery: 8:15a - 8:25p - slept - 6:20a - 7:25a (
13hrs 15mins)
6th battery: 7:25a - 4:15p (
8hrs 50mins) (for quite awhile this day I was using an atomizer that I should have cleaned but was just to lazy to do so and therefore was having to take longer and more frequent drags)
7th battery: 4:15p - 10p - slept - 6:15a - 11:45a (
11hrs 15mins)
8th battery: 11:45a - 11:30p - slept - 7:10a - 7:55a (
12hrs 30mins)
9th battery: 7:55a - 6:45p (
10hrs 50mins)
10th battery: 6:45p - 11:15p - slept - 5:35a - 3:15p (
14hrs 10mins) (was out of the house and busy this day so used a bit less)
11th battery: 3:15p - 10:40p - slept - 7:50a - 5:25p (
17hrs) (this figure is innacurate due to the fact that I mixed up the two batteries when taking a picture of them and wound up recharging the one that had only been used for about 2 hours while using the other for about 20 minutes. Once I realized my mistake I switched batteries again.)
12th battery: 5:25p - 11:15p - slept - 7:15a - 2:40p (
13hrs 15mins)
13th battery: 2:40p - 11:20p - slept - 7:50a - 9:20a (
10hrs 10mins)
14th battery: 9:20a - 7:15p (
9hrs 55mins)
15th battery: 7:15p - 12:20a - slept - 10:30a - 5:15p (
11hrs 50mins)
16th battery 5:15p - 12:45a - slept - 9:20a - 12:40p (
10hrs 50mins)
17th battery: 12:40p - 12:30a (
11hrs 50mins)
18th battery: 12:30a - 1:20a - slept - 9:30a - 7:15p (
10hrs 35mins)

I vape even more than I smoked and I am usually holding onto a device pretty much all day long. I'd say for the most part I was vaping as much as I normally do on the days where I was getting between 10 and 11 hours per charge. On the other days where I was getting longer times I was setting the device down more often and, while still using it often, was using it more like a real cig. A big factor in me using it that way is the fact that you can easily set it down standing on end like I mentioned above.
To compare the battery life of the eGo(650mah)to other devices I have used: Stock 510: barely more than 1 hour , 10440(320mah): 2 hours , 14500(900mah): 5 - 6 hrs.

Cone: My earlier statement about the difference the cone makes being inconsistent is actually dependant on how consistent your use of the device is. In my experience if I use the device like any other, which means keeping it in my hand pretty much all the time and taking a couple drags off of it each minute, then I notice a slight difference in the amount and warmth of the vapor but not alot. However when using it more like a cigarette, taking more frequent drags for a few minutes and then setting it down for a bit, there is definitely a bit of an increase in vapor production and much warmer vapor that gives a more satisfying hit.
The one downside to the cone that I have noticed is that I get more leakage/condensation of liquid on the outside of the atomizer. In my opinion though, the fact that it is contained within the cone and not a real mess or hassle as long as you remember to wipe the atomizer off before grabbing it to unscrew it from the battery, it really isn't an issue.

Overall: While some peoples experiences may differ, as happens with any device, and be either more positive or negative, I would have to say that overall I would be very happy with the eGo. The look of the device is definitely one to be appreciated and the overall design of it was definitely well thought out in my opinion. Using the cone instead of a single uniform diameter for the length of the device helps add to the aesthetic appeal as well as improving the performance of it. As I stated above the ability to set it on end, which I am aware can be done with some of the "mods" out there, is another big factor in the appeal this unit holds for me personally. Add to that the fact that it causes me to use it more like a cigarette rather than a pacifier and it just makes it that much more appealing. The extended battery life, which I'm sure would end up lasting even longer over time as I got more used to setting it down for longer periods of time, in a compact device with proprietary batteries is, to me, the single biggest selling point of the unit and what would make it a great device for new users to e-cigs since it would cut out the hassle of needing to carry numerous batteries around when first making the switch.

When all is said and done I would have to say if I had to choose just one device out of the ones that I have used thus far the eGo would definitely be my choice. While the price for the eGo set is obviously more than that of a standard 510 starter kit I have and will continue to recommend this device as the best starter device for a new user due not only to the fact of all the stated benefits above but also the much longer warranty time that the higher price buys you.

As I've already said all of the above is just my experience and honest opinion of this device after having used it exclusively for the past two weeks. For any out there who may think I gave it a good review and recommendation because I in some way benefit from doing so I will state the following: The only benefit to being included in the wandering reviews, which I'm glad to have been a part of, is getting a 10% discount ($8?) on a new kit if I choose to buy one. Factor into that the fact that I paid $6.25 out of pocket to send the device to the next person to review it and therefore would only be saving $1.75 by being included in this review process and I think you'll agree that the savings wouldn't really be a motivational factor in the nature of my review. Also look at the fact that my situation at the moment prohibits me from buying an eGo, even though I'd like to, which negates any savings and means testing the device actually cost me $6.25 and I think you'll see that while having the luxury of testing a device without purchasing it and hopefully helping others in making a decision whether or not to purchase an eGo is nice, there is nothing that would motivate me to lie about the device or my opinions. None of this statement is meant as any kind of slight toward Janty or any individual and the only reason I felt compelled to include it is because I know how some people can be skeptical of peoples motivation to give a product a good review.

Thanks to Mik and the team at Janty for giving me the opportunity to be included in this process.

I can only second this, too. The eGo is a great little thing.
And it's even perfectly OK for newbies – I had been afraid that it might seem to bulky for them, but instead I heard "Oh, it's cute!" No arguing that – besides working great, it does look cute.

My husband and I are newbies! We both got the eGo, and we LOVE them! I thought it would be bulky, and the button hard to get used to... but nope...we've had them 3 days and it's like second nature already...well, for me anyway... hubby has tried to light his 3 times :D Two of his friends tried to light it also... I told them I'm going to start breaking fingers!!!

I don't think it's cute though... I think it's sssseeexxxyyyyy!!
