Mik,

Since you brought up product safety and the "possibility" that a non-Janty product might "explode in your face"... may I ask what safety features you have incorporated into the eGo for our protection?

Unlike "traditional" PV batteries which have a plastic LED ash-cap that can "blow off" in case of a battery vent issue, the eGo battery is in a sealed can (except for the button hole). So does the eGo use a "protected" cell? Or, is there specific circuitry in the eGo that will non-destructively and reliably protect the user in the case of an over-current situation (like a shorted atomizer)?

So to answer your questions, here it is straight from Joye:

The reasons batteries can be dangerous:

1) If these batteries go above 4.2 volts
2) If the batteries short circuit
3) If the quality of the batteries are poor

so :

1: The chargers are fixed so it should be impossible for the batteries to go above 4.2 under any circumstance.
2: There is a built in short circuit protection onboard in each eGo
3: Joyetech goes through rigid battery testing, and use very high quality materials - their batteries are probably some of the safest, and best built around

As i said, thats answers direct from our lab-guys in white at Joyetech!

- and i might add as a general remark; Thats also the three reasons not to buy a clone. :p

Hope its useful to you ;)

Out of curiosity I just had to go look at the knockoff. This company is charging $60 for the knockoff garbage version. Are they joking? The REAL Janty Ego is only twenty extra dollars. Are there really people out there who would choose the knockoff to save twenty bucks? That is kind of ridiculous if you ask me. Needless to say, I will be sticking with Janty.

And yes they will last long - just not _as_ long as the normal atties ( which makes sense.. ) - and ofcourse we will sell them, we damn well invented them.. we just havent had the first batches as we see those as "test" batches.. so we sold those to other companies.. :) (and yes they know)
)

Unfortunately this is a bold-faced lie - i talk to the man who invented the low Ohm (low resistance) atomizer on almost a daily basis - they were in the hands of people i speak to months ago, before even being sold to TW - so whatever company you sold your test batches to, or whatever low res atty you made - it was not your invention, or the first low-res atties on the market. Please re-check your information.

Thanks

While I whole hearty agree with you that it would be ridiculous to purchase the knock off for just a $20.00 savings. But there are people out there that would make that purchase to just save $1.00 if they could. Normally these are people who can not see past that little savings and see the difference you get in quality. As it was always been said "a dollar short saved, a headache gained".

While I am still loving my eGo's as well, going strong for 3 1/2 months of heavy vaping averaging about 5ml a day and yet to blow a single atty. (Now that I may have cursed myself :).)

The few things I am looking forward to is the always mentioned XL, eGo carrying case and hoping for a great eGo lanyard as well.

Have to say you are right kno, I was one of the few that got them from the real inventor months ago and he made it very clear it was his first R&D test batch.
His 2nd batch was given out at Vape Fest 2010 VA.

BTW he also said this would happen.

True, but i think the worst case is not that - its when people think that the knockoff is the real deal. I mean new people come into the ecig business everyday - and its hard for them to figure out whats a solid product and whats not.

Someone should make a thread somewhere in the newbie section and tell the newbies what are genuine products, and what are copies - not to help us, but to help them tbh.

Mkay buddy.

I will trust you - and i will trust that your one guy / friend, thinks he invented them. But Joyetech did this too independently of anyone else, which was a LONG time ago - we just picked up on the idea again recently and tested it, cause we now felt it was time for us to move onward.

It *is* possible for more than one person to get an idea simultaneously you know, and it is VERY possible for more than one person to DO the same thing, during the same time period. This is probably what happened anyways, - and i said that is why we invented them; in relation to our own versions. I did not mean to say that _we_ invented the idea of LR atomizers.

But i actually do think its kinda silly when people say "Oh yeah i know a guy who was the inventor of X" - all i can say is "picz prz or it didnt happen" :D Documentation, or patent rights, or no rights at all.

I will gladly state that i can not document ( nor do i want to tbh ) that we are the inventors of the LR - we are not. I do think we were among the first though, and we are definately late bloomers in producing. Part of the game, sometimes you win, and other times you win slower.

I don't know why but when I vape with my Janty eGo it feels like I'm wearing diamonds. There's something special - classy - about the eGo that I don't feel from the "other" one and maybe it's all in my head, but I don't care. No matter how good CZs can look you still know when you're wearing the real thing and it just makes you feel good. That's how vaping with the eGo from Janty makes me feel. I'm sure part of it is Mik and part is Janty being a good company, but the sum of the parts are greater than the whole.

Thank you Janty, Mik and associates.
... and we all know diamonds are a girls best friends.

Hey Mik-

Sorry you are having a bad week! I know I havent posted in awhile, but IM still here lurking and loving my ego during every minute of it! Even with the few bumps in the road Ive had, you, Jeff, and Ethan have taken great care of me! Especially while Ive been out on the road!

Unfortunatelly you know as well as I do that the problems always get more publicity than the benefits, but IM always amazed at the huge number of "I love my ego" posts! I cant tell you enough how great it is to be able to work a flight from Los Angeles to Sydney Australia, and not have to change my batts once! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

If I ever make it to Denmark (Havent been in awhile), Its drinks on me! (Since I cant bribe you with Cinnamon Gum anymore lol)

Keep it up, you are greatly appreciated!

the reasons you guys bring up for not buying the off brand of ego xl is not even close to what I worry about when things like this happen.

my problem has little to do wih quality concerns and everything to do with wanting the people that made the design get the money.

if somewhere along the way janty was making money from it I would place my order in a second.

stealing intellectual property is stealing and if i were in the company i would be pretty curious how the xl designs got into another companies hands.

anyway my real reason for commenting in here is to check on a release date for the XL, the original (rumor) date was sometime in April and we are closing in on the end of the month so i'm crossing my fingers that it will be on the site soon.

i'm ordering it day one so please keep us updated.

Hey River,

I do agree with you to some extent, - i mean it hurts me directly when people copy us and its not like im rich as it is. :)

But, to both me and Ludo - and the general attitude in Janty, it is more a concern for our customers. I mean we have made a great product - it would be so bad if someone thought it was our product, or a rebrand, bought it and then burned down their house, or got into an accident. We _really_ dont want that to happen.

But thanks for supporting us, we appreciate it.

As for the release date, i cant say yet, - but we are working hard on it. My best guesstimate is mid next month. However, if it pans out the way it should, it is worth waiting for! ;)

No.

I work for a big company, - they research 24/7, and so do i. I think chances are a bit bigger that we thought of, AND tested the idea, before 98% of anyone else.

But, to be honest i dont care. If your read just 2% of my posts, you would realise that i just think the e-cig business in general needs to move forward, and i dont care who invents what - as long as it makes us _all_ move forward.

All youre doing to be honest is to insinuate alot of stuff, apparently on behalf of some buddy you have. Which is fine. For all i care, you two could have invented e-cigarettes. Doesnt really bother me. So have fun with it.
