Would you Like to see the eGo with color options

  • Yes, I would buy a colored ego over what is available right now.

  • No, I am satisfied with the current options.

I bought my Ego 5 weeks ago. Love the unit functionally. No problems there. And it looked great when I got it. "Titanium" color.

The trouble is that after vaping for 5 weeks, the cone and BOTH bats had significant splotchy areas where the paint had pealed off and the unit looked horrible. It looked so bad that I had to use my fingernails to remove all the remaining paint. I now have a stainless steal color and it looks fine. Any replacement bats I buy will be stainless steel because I understand that "color" has no finish.

However, I'd like to point out that I have never dropped the unit on the ground. The paint appears to be pealing due to oil on my skin transferring to the coated metal surface. And occasionally a little e-liquid, which seems to really accelerate the process of de-bonding the paint.

It strikes me that this problem is inevitable with these units. It may happen sooner or later for a given individual, but it's going to happen because no one can avoid touching the cone and bats. It's too bad because the unit looks nice on delivery, and I think that people should be able to choose a preferred color and have it continue to look that way for the functional life of the unit.

I don't know if the manufacturer could use a better bonding paint or if this problem can't be avoided because metal surfaces just make it inevitable regardless of the paint used. In any event, unless or until the problem is addressed, I would tend to recommend that people just get the stainless steel (i.e. the unfinished) version because that's how it's going to end up sooner or later and it looks pretty awful while in transition.

Are you sure you have a 'Janty' eGo and not another brand?
for what i know there's no titanium janty ego battery and cone, you can have it black, white or silver-stainless steel only.

Good point. I have a Tornado to be more precise. My impression was that all Tornado parts are manufactured by Janty. However, it's possible that TW is responsible for the finish. Are the Janty finishes better?

Janty simply doesn't sell titanium finished egos, Janty silver ones are staineless steel (no paint at all).

I've been using my Stick as a replacement for my Kissbox for almost one year now, and the Stick is on it's last leg and it's now outta warranty range. My question is should I get the Ego? There seems to be so many good things to say about the Ego, however I've never vaped from a 510 atty before. I would have loved to tried an adapter and used a 510 atty on my Stick, however I think it's now too late to try. I am a huge fan of the Stick and the 801 atty, but I know the Baby J will be along at some point soon, so...should I hold off for the Baby J or go ahead and get the Ego? I really need a new device soon, I'm afraid my Stick won't last much longer...

I'm at least a little bit surprised that nobody has responded to you yet, but the guy to ask is deewal, as he has been in a similar position to you...

And although like you, he has been e-smoking for quite some time now, he only very recently tried the 510 atomiser for the first time via the eGo...

I was at least a little bit surprised by that too... :smokie:

i don't know when the baby j (or whatever they're going to call it) will be released, but i've been a stick long time user too.
Then i switched to an eGo mostly for the battery and the nice design.
I've been liking it a lot for few months but recently i got back to 801 atties.
i got an adaptor and i'm using the ego battery with 801's (including LR's).
This configuration deliver a better flavour, huge vapor and a nice hit.
I'm quite sure Janty is going to release 801 LR atties when the baby J will land on earth.

 There was no one more surprised than myself Toby.

I too am a great fan of the 801 atty and was thinking exactly what your thinking now xpnsvtoys. Should i wait for the Baby J or get an Ego as everyone has great things to say about the 510 ?
Now it does not seem to me that the Baby J is one of Janty's top priorities (although if they do make it i'm having one) so i thought that for the price of an Ego i must try it so that i could tell everyone it was rubbish.
Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be such a powerful little monster. Nothing i had experienced with "mini" type attys prepared me for the 510. It is now my first choice of my many E-Cigs.
Not only that but the XL battery which is bigger and more powerful is expected very soon.
Of course it all depends on your budget. I have a Janty Classic which i would have been happy to stay with until the Baby J appeared and i also have a Stick which very good when it worked. Unfortunately i got a couple of duffers (problems with the switch and USB sockets). Toby replaced them of course but it still was inconsistent. As far as i know those problems have been sorted out in Version 3.

I also have a 801 Screwdriver so as you can see i'm used to getting a good vape. I even bought a Screwdriver with a 510 fitting after the Ego as i was so impressed.

I can only say that the Ego is as good (and for some people better) as an 801. I have been using it constantly as my main PV since i got it which must be over a month.
I know if you can only afford one PV it's a hard choice but i would endorse the Ego to anyone and as ournature has said you can get an adapter from Toby to use an 801 on it. I've yet to try that but now i will as i've just seen his post.
One thing i can assure you of is that you are dealing with a Top Class and one of the most helpful and honest Vendors in the world with Toby.
He always delivers. Always.

Thanks to all who have replied, its always nice to hear a similar story...I think I'm going to take the plunge and go for the Ego, I've been tinkering with my Stick and may have found a fix but I'm not sure how long it will last...On my way now...:2cool:

Hey

I think the problem in this scenario is that it IS a very subjective matter; but on that note - let us hear how you like it when you get it - and post it in this thread - might help other users in your dilemma! :D

As for 10440 "protected" batteries, mine from DealExtreme--sku.30788 arrived today and are awesome! I bought them for a LED flashlight, but they work so well in my Janty Stick, I will order more! The "protected" cells will be easier to maintain and not be ruined by overcharging or over-discharging. At $5.08 for 2 and free shipping, can't go wrong!
