Well, I thought I would revive this somewhat thread to report my leaky JS.
I've had my manual JS for about ten days now, and have been extremely pleased with it. I use it side by side with my 510, switching back and forth, enjoying the difference in vapage (pronunciation: "vape-aaazh") between the 810 and 510 attys. I have been very careful about blowing out over-wet 801 attys, and I've been attentive to fluid leaking below the atty near the battery connector. I have had some leaking down there, but have been faithful about dabbing it out with paper toweling. That's the one point I do not appreciate about the JS: having the atomizer-battery mating so far down inside the stick and not easily accessible.
Until yesterday I had no liquid leaking to the exterior of the stick.
The good news is that the leaking I experienced last night can be attributed to user transportation. Allow me to explain.
Mama needed some me-time, so I loaded up my motorcycle jacket pockets with a freshly charged and topped-up Janty-Stick and Joye 510, and PCC. I then headed out into the heat, and my PV's and I put about 50 miles on my Royal Enfield. Apart from coming close to .....-slapping an Indian man after a conversation in a parking lot (long story, I won't divert into it here), I had a fabulous time. Once I got home and whipped out my stick, I noticed some liquid residue down around the LED strip.
My first thought was "Oh no, I've contracted the dreaded leaky stick syndrome." So I cleaned it up as best I could, short of cracking open the case, which I've been too chicken to attempt thus far. Later on, though, it occurred to me that the leaking was probably caused by having a freshly-loaded cartridge assembled on the stick transported for 50 miles on a Royal Enfield. Royal Enfields are great little bikes, but they don't exactly ride like a Cadillac, i.e. there is plenty of vibration going on. I believe that the sustained vibration of the motorcycle ride swiggled my juiced-up stick into leaking.
NOTE TO SELF:
When riding, DISASSEMBLE the stick before packing it away into the jacket pockets.
All in all, I do really love my Janty Stick.
I'm not sure where it will fall in the line-up once my incoming Prodigy joins the team, we'll have to wait and see.
