I'm trying to get my daughter to try vaping with cotton, Treebeard. What did you do to convince your son? Every time I try to introduce the idea, she comes back at me with . . . . . . "DaaaaAAAAAaaaad, I'm only eight years old!"
Well, my son is only four years old so it took some time to convince him. I just showed him how easy it was to remove the wick, dry burn the coil, rinse and dry and just slip a new rolled cotton wick right back in without having to recoil each time. Easy peasey! He had no argument after that and now he knows that father always knows best.:lol:

hmmm when you put it like that (instructing a 4 year old) this 63 yr old finally gets it!

I'm using 30ga wire and 10 wraps per CATastrophe's post #653. Also, I use cotton crochet thread (#10) that I boiled.
Lost.... How many wraps and what Ga. wire. I use cotton or bamboo both seem about the same bamboo last a little longer and more consistent.

I revisited rolled cotton today. Decided it must be my NETs giving the subpar results. I even actually used a 1/16" drill bit this time instead of the usual 5/64" screwdriver I normally use. I used an ERA clone I cut the insulator for bottom feeding. It has the posts like the Cyclone but acts more like the RM2 because it sucks out excess juice. Got it all together and filled the bottle with Agent Orange. Really nice clean taste coming from it. I'll be using this setup on the non-NET juices I vape. I wish I could get these results with cotton and Boba's I'd be in hog heaven.

Hey bro, you'll have that other cyclone back to rock next week too :).

So, went out today and got me a 1/16" drill bit and a whole bunch of cotton: Rolled Sterile Cotton and 100% USP pure cotton balls from CVS, as well as some Peaches and Cream 100% white Cotton yarn from Wal-Mart.

I had done some builds before, but they were kinda hodge-podge due to lack of materials. They say about the Reo (and some other "pro" mods) that you wouldn't get it until you've held one, seen one, and used one. I kinda chalked this up there.

Once I made one to the same as you guys, set it up, got it all saturated and vaped it.. now I get it. I went nuts. First it was my little Phoenix V5 RDA. Then a Vivi Nova I had kicking around. All went from OK juice delivery systems to WOW. So I built my AGA with one. I even made one for the Protank!(my favorite outcome so far.. until my REOmizer gets here)

I'll put some pictures up soon for grading purposes(want to make sure I have this method down pat). It's great though. VTF is there...oh man is it there. I haven't felt a nicotine buzz in a while and now I'm leaning back in my chair. That and the idea that a brand new wick and coil costs pennies is incredibly attractive. I have enough wick and wire to potentially set me for life, and it cost about $20.

Keep the ideas coming! Can't believe I missed out on this for so long.

i wonder what happens if i do the Micro coil on a 26ga kanthal wire? What would be the resistance at?

Pretty, pretty low. If the resistance on 26 gauge wire is 0.27 per inch, you'd need almost 4 inches of it wrapped around a 14 gauge needle to even get to 1 ohm...... I don't think you'd have room for it in your RBA.....

This one is 9 wraps coming in at .72ohms (but that was my targeted area). IMHO 26 awg is best for sub-ohm use only (not that higher can't be done, just not much of a point).

What kind of response time are you looking at with this setup? Personally I'm not a fan of waiting for my coil to really get going.

Being one of the longest holdouts moving to rolled cotton twist and micro coil (natural fibers tried in past on several RBAs but gunking juice required a coil dryburn at least once daily and nothing threads through coil as fast and easily as the rolled cotton - no magnification needed other than readers, too) I'm thrilled to report that I got two whole days before dryburn needed using micro coil and rolled q-tip cotton!!!!! That's about 9ml juice.

Amazing thing, and to be expected when thought about, is that dryburn goes so fast (and less stress on battery, especially 14500) because not having to degunk silica wick (and others) that can take 4-5 X 20-30 second pulsing cycles and sometimes more. With bare coil usually two at most does the job.

I'm ecstatic!!! Thanks X and Okie and all others for leading the way.

I'm seeing first hand that the micro coil is what is essential for longevity of cotton wick at least for my gunking juice.

Hi Alice,
As I have mentioned before to others.... Welcome to the COTTON CLUB!!
Recently just for fiddling sake I was trying to convince myself that Nextell 1/32 kiln treated was better and lasted longer. I actually went as far as to post that I like it better. Well, after being away from cotton for a week I went back and made myself a new microcoil, cut a strip of cotton pad, fired up the mini woodvil and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Like putting on a broken in pair of Levis after wearing a designer brand. it just feels right!!
So, I'm back to good ole' cotton. I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it! problem is now what do I fiddle with???? Hmmmm...

^^ you fiddle with your budget until you can justify buying another REO, LOL

Whisky = Nextel
Beer = Cotton
Men = Drippers
Horses = Reomizer2

"Whisky for my men, beer for my horses"

hehe

I'm thinking my next "fiddle" project will be exploring the DIY juice option. Guess I will start reading up on nicotine purchase, vg/pg purchase, flaovor options, mixing ratios etc.!

I'm totally with ya. I hate slow heating coils, I want a good vape on the first pull, no prefiring to warm up or having to constantly take drags so it keeps going. I hate gennies with SS wicks for this very reason, well that & cause I'm a bottom feeding Reonut (yeah "a" left out intentionally).

This one fires up fine & produces crazy dense vapor. Of course batteries don't last long with it but I only use this for the occasional fix when I get the urge to blow clouds. I'll put it on my tube mech (doesn't fit a REO) fill the room with vapor then put it away. :)

Do you know what the ohm's per inch are okie on 28swg and 30swg ?
