My 'standard' has been 10 wraps of 28g Kanthal, 1/16th ID at about 1.5Ω at roughly 4.5V on the VVG's. I'm, quite satisfied with that setup, but lately I've been wanting to dust off my old trusty Grand. Just ordered some new AW IMR's 1600mAh and ordered a repair kit for the Grand (its old and abused and I've measured the v-drop at over 1Ω with a .5Ω coil). Hoping the new parts and batts will help achieve a more respectable performance. As it is now, I'm getting a pretty nice vape on the Grand with two strands of 28g K (in-line dual coil), I think 6 wraps giving me about .5Ω. Problem is that my batts are OLD and I only get about three hours of intermittent use before they drop below 3.8 volts.
So, with the the addition of the new batts and innards I though I would try some new resistance wire as well. Just ordered some 26g nichrome and a small sample of Rene. Judging from the feedback here, I think I'm on the right track. I still have plenty of 28g and 30g Kanthal. Is there any other R-wire you guys would suggest trying out for the Grand?
