So many cool pics to look at :p. The difference between a regular coil and a micro coil is amazing. I used some 26g kanthal to do 4 wraps at .4 ohms and it just didn't compare to my .8 micro coil. The flavor, oh God the flavor :vapor:

And in my forever obsession of posting pics, here's what I just finished. After a lot of fiddling, some troubles with high VG and whatnot, I finally finished setting these guys up. Black wrinkle has a freshly mixed banana ripe 30/70 PG/VG juice that I absolutely love. Gotta go tomorrow to the B&M and get me some more of that Miami Vice juice :p. And I had to clean them after the pics because lovely juice spitting all over the place :D.

And let the party begin.

Just looking over Reoville here since I am a recent convert.

(Great, looks like I might never get caught up reading new posts with the additional threads I am going to keep up with little lone going through the old posts!)

Here is my current micro "magic" twisted ribbon setup wrapped on a 1.2mm form for .9 ohms

I have tried many many twisted ribbon sizes / techniques / number strands with ribbon & round & mixed to come up with "magic" for a balance of surface area vs heat vs latency.

"Magic" is.6mm X .07mm Kanthal A twisted until folded over like so

6mmX07mmcoldtwisted165ohmft_zps8a68c5c0.jpg

them 3 of those backwards twisted while selectively heating so they intertwine like so

Tales a long time, very easy to screw up at any stage of making, and 6 foot of ribbon makes enough for 4 to 6 coils if I don't mess up.

Well worth the trouble in my opinion.

Have a couple of ginnie pigs I am sending some to to see if I am crazy or if it is as good as I think it is or maybe both.

:vapor:

The most beautiful coil I have ever seen, but far beyond my technical prowess. Will be any kind of pig to try one!

If my piggies like it I will take the time to do a detailed video of the process.
It seems to be more of an art than a technical thing and the wrong side of my brain is dominant for art.
Sometimes it comes out looking and working beautiful like in those scans and sometimes not so much.
Short pieces seem to be easier, but I have been trying to make longer pieces for less wastage.
Still trying to figure out how to make the process more consistent.

Here is a fail which didn't work worth poop and wasted 6 foot of ribbon:

(Too much heat at the intertwining stage, it's a fine line)

idk if you're using cotton but if not you should, you might have to boil it as I have had some that taste a bit off on the first 5 or so hits, up to you if it's worth the effort, I think it is.

Anyway, try some 28g 10 wraps around a 1/16th bit, prob about 1.2-1.4 ohms with cotton. I haven't liked the results with any gauge higher than 28, always seems to taste a bit off and a less saturated or full vape. It might be worth it trying some difff gauges w/ diff amount of wraps to find your sweet spot. I did a 16 wrap of 26g that was mighty tasty, but difff folk, diff strokes.

I'll second on the more flavor, for me at least, using 28 ga instead of 30. I am having to not only lower my same ol butterscotch nic a bit with same flavor 0 nic (double extra shot MBV Butterscotch), but now needing to cut flavor a bit.

I've been doing micro-coils and rolled cotton in RM2s, for several months, using 30 ga, ~1/16 ID, around 1.5 +/- 0.1 ohm. A few days ago did a 1.4 ohm using 28 ga, usual juice, and juice needed a bit of taming. I have severl other REOs/RM2s close in ohm, same juice, but 30 ga kanthal and same juice doesn't need as much "taming."

I would not have believed the difference until I experienced it first hand.

I don't get any off flavor first few vapes using organic cotton balls. But maybe it's my juices, all butterscothch bsse except for one which has a very slight smokiness to it, FSUSA Applewood. Lot of peeps don't either. BOILING LOOSE COTTON IS A BIG HASSLE!
