I dunno if you were aware, but the micro coil is pretty much blowing up in the dripper world all together. People on reddit are all over it. It's in grimmgreen's latest video.

Unfortunately a lot of what makes it a micro coil has been lost in translation (people post pictures of these huge coils and wonder why it's called micro), but, people are definitely experimenting a lot with this, bringing people who used to be sub ohm vapers into the land of higher resistance.

I've even seen pictures of a "micro" coil on a genesis, which was basically just a bunch of touching coils wrapped on SS mesh.

You've started a revolution, super x :)

Hey guys, i have order 3mm silica and 32aw kanthal for my octopus.. I see a video of greengrim today and he said something about this micro coil and i endup in this thread searching what is that..

Can i make one of thise coil with what i have ordered? I have a dual coul igo clone from fasttech in the way also.. I have never build a coil before this will be my first attempt. How much wraps do i need, do they need to be touching ? Can i get a short by the touching coils? A step by step instruccion would be good for me if there any let me know were to find it, thanks

Hey Dax,

Here's a photo tutorial with very simple, easy to understand steps to make a coil, install it and wick it:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9421933

It's using 30 ga Kanthal, but the same principals would work for 32 ga Kanthal. :)

I had no idea ! That's pretty awesome - " the micro coil - sub ohm experience at safe voltages "

I had a bro send a pm a few weeks ago asking if I would mind if he used the RM2 rebuild method on reddit. I had never heard of reddit before that. :)

I've never been able to get thru most vape related YouTube videos due to my advanced stage ADD :), so I rarely watch em. Scrubbing thru that one by grim green just reinforced my "I prefer picture posts" viewpoint. :).

That's a good observation synic, it does seem that many believe that large bore coils are micros, just cause the coils touch. Imagine if they dropped the diameter down to around 1/16 or smaller and dialed in like 12+ tight wraps :)

I like it :)

I took your advise and tried the "microcoil" method. 8 wraps of 30 wire around 1/16 drill bit came out at 1.47 ohms. I used to use 4/5 wrap of 30 wire around a wd40 can plastic extender. much larger coil came out at 1.34 ohms. I couldn't believe how much more flavor I got and great vapor as well at higher resistence with the micro method.! Using cotton wick.
So now my next fiddling project will be nextel vs. ekowool vs. bamboo thread! Opinions welcomed.

Looking to switch from cotton now. Doing microcoils and needing to thread such a small amount of cotton thru the coil makes for a thin wick and cotton disinegrates so fast now being so thin. I have been very happy with cotton but now with microcoils I think i will try ekowool or bamboo threads as to try and make wicks last a bit longer. Any advise of what thickness ekowool or bamboo to order?

Has anyone developed a decent method of threading ekowool through a microcoil? Pics and details would be nice!

I put a needle through the center of the ekowool and then coil the resistance wire onto it tightly. When you remove the needle later, it gives it enough space for wicking. I've tried threading ekowool through existing coils, but couldn't get good enough contact with the wire that way.

First successful micro coil, 28 gauge kanthal (hopefully my 30 gauge will be here in the next couple days so I can try that). 1/32Nextel. 1.3ohm

Wow, what an amazing vape. Flavour and vapour are so much better. Super x drifter, thanks for the tutorials, helped a lot. Commie, thanks for the tip about the needle thru the wick, worked great with the Nextel.

ETA should of read 1/32nd Nextel.

lol "tinkering with my wick" good times.

Made my first MC today and it really is fantastic. I tried gennies and they are just for me. the SS does not agree with me at all. I've always liked silica but the cotton with the MC....bliss :vapor:

Super = the man

No, you da man! Next step is to get a REO and his new atty, the RM2. There is nothing like fresh squeezed juice applied to your coil at your discretion! The REO is a bulletproof, reliable, simple, leak free mechanical mod that will have you wondering how you lived without it. :). Rock on brother :)

don't make me spend more $$ please......next thing the wife will come home with some crazy ... shoes that look just the other crazy ... shoes that she has in the closet and i wont be able to lay the verbal smack down because she will hit me with "well you just bought a damn RIODIJANERO" then i face palm and attempt to tell her about it being a REO and being a JoD device then she loses train of thought and drifts into the i dont give a damn "wife face". bad times at the house of cerver7 if i drop more funds :(

all jokes aside, its prolly going to be my next device, just have to do the old vape budget hands.

Your wife will ultimately thank you for it. Once you get one, you won't be looking at any other mods. You will probably want to get a back up REO though. Most of us would probably go into convulsions at the thought of ever vaping off something else :)

She might also look at you and say "damn, that new little box device is so manly. I like it so much better than that blinking pimp stick you were using before" :)

Is JOD the abbreviation for juice on demand? I like it!
