I just got my MVP 2 in the mail. I ordered Carbon Drawbench Black.
I think I was sent just the plain black, but wanted to confirm with you guys.
Is the Drawbench Black the one with a textured finish, almost like wood grain lines?
That's what I wanted, but the one I got is just plain black with no finish.

hello welcome to the world where MVP's rule

you are right

black is just smooth semi gloss

the carbon black has like a woodgrain texture

I've noticed as soon as I wrap it I no longer notice the original color (grin)

Thanks.
It's not a big deal. I'm just a little OCD about stuff like that. Can't stand the feel of brushed metal.
The one I got I can live with. I just ordered the Drawbench version because I thought I'd like the feel better.
Have you touched them both? Do they feel any different?

I have the blue and the carbon fiber black. I barely notice the texture of the black one. Picked up the new wave a couple weeks ago, too. It's super smooth compared even to the blue one. They all are GREAT

If you are ordering anyhow, I really recommend the Amazon.com: Antec Quad Port USB Charging Station (UA4-25): MP3 Players & Accessories since it lets you charge multiple items and you don't have to get at the wall outlet to use it.

Or...this one...

$5.00 less, 1 more port and "PowerIQ™ Technology"...

Amazon.com: Anker® 25W 5-Port Desktop USB Charger with PowerIQ™ Technology for iPhone 5s 5c 5; iPad Air mini; Galaxy S5 S4; Note 3 2; Tab; Nexus and More: Cell Phones & Accessories

aquired some rayon a few days ago and gave it a go as wick material
burn test, cotton wad/cotton yarn/rayon--almost identical (turn to ash)…
I am very happy with my cotton yarn, but it seems its shortcoming is
breaking down to temperature, gonna see if this rayon does better in that department…

Have you run across this?

good video as usual thanks gerrymi :vapor:

........tried the KGD before by it's-self in a dripper (RDA)and i had to re-dripp every min or so it was a total pain, but in a Tank it should preform awesome.......things were a bit better for me with just Cellu, then mixing Cellu w/Cotton and it was much better..

from what i experienced there is a big difference between using Cellu/KGD in a RDA ....and in a RBA with these wicking materials.

so for me i'm gonna stick with Cellu mixed w/Cotten in my RDA's and gonna go straight Cellu in my RBA's
the KGD is just to darn expensive for me, and the Hemp...well i had enough of that stuff in my youth to last a lifetime :D

Im currently using 2 parts rayon with 1 part organic cotton, and it seems about the same as all rayon to me. Ill need to experiment with it more myself.

I think part of the reason I need to change wicks so often is due to the fact that my favorite juice is a coil-gunker. You wouldnt think so since its 60%pg/40%vg and a light color, but its hands down more of a gunker than my 70/30 suicide bunny juices.

I think I need to start spreading my coils out instead of wrapping each wrap touching the one next to it- that seems to help prevent gunk buildup. As it stands now, even one tank in the Russian pretty much gunks the coil where it needs a burn-off to work right again.

Indeed, thats how I need to start wrapping my coils. Right now, there are literally no gaps so the coil gunks really fast. My juice is a light color like that, but as Sando7 points out its more about how sweet the juice is. I guess thats why VG gunks coils more than PG (on average)?

jandry, if you are just using Tanks, if so try all Cellu @100% for wicking....the sweeter the jooze the more gunk

I have. It STILL gunks up bad even with 100% rayon/cellu! I am going to wrap a coil with gaps like Midnightoyl shared a pic of. Ill prolly bring my coil ohm load down to 1.5 (since I like a quick heatup and spacing the coil slows that process down, and lower ohms means more amps and thus faster heatup of the coil).

I didnt know coil-gunkage was from sweetness- I thought it was mostly the darker *juices* that gunked coils. Learn something new every day here thanks :D

man i got a little story to share today, went to a local B&M this afternoon looking for some 18650's cause my mom was in a good mood and offered to buy me 2; so like a good son i said hell yea and off we went...anywho went inside and asked for some high drain imr's in 18650 for subbing and the owner tried to sell me Red E-Fest V1 batts, i said no way jose you gotta be kiddin me, gimmi some VTC5'S or some purp E-Fest 35a....she said i don't carry them and subbing with the Red's was fine......man what a dangerous person i thought,.....makes me wonder how many poor victims have fell for this so far and i sure hope no-body has been hurt.........she looked at me like i was crazy and as i was leaving i noticed someone behind the counter had 2 VTC5's in a charger on the floor...i just smiled to myself and booked out quickly and i will never return to that establishment......went to another and the lady was very knowledgeable on batts but still didn't have what i needed so i wound up w/2 18500 15a purp e-fest...got my 3D atty on my Nemi in short mode and it looks and hits darn good with a 1ohm single coil......just a diddy to tell, nothing else.

......@jandry, don't think the sweetness is all the prob but it sure will contribute to it.

now break out the MVP's and Vape on! :vapor:

On another note
that’s exactly how all mine fit
the base doesn’t snug up tight to the tank bottom
(less than fingernail gap)
the o-ring is more than enuff (never had a leak)

- - -

same restriction with the i16
tried to drill out center hole in base, turns out it is
a ‘tin cup’, so I put it back in and forced a nail thru
to open hole just a bit – worked marvelous…
don’t have a i30 anymore, but it looks like in the pic,
the i30 base is set up the same way (might be worth a try)

:)

I don't mind the hard draw. I mind the dry hits... the first coil choked by the silicone may be the culprit, but the second coil too? Nah, depends on where you get your coils. This time around they're absolutely disgusting.

Nah I dont but I dont have any errors lol I've rebuilt 6 PT2 coils. They all are 1.3 I dont need them yet still on the first coil. Only reworked twice in the last month. But I have others ready in case I need em.

Thats pretty darn impressive if your not getting any shorts using 28 gauge in a Pro Tank head .

I would guess 10 or 11 wraps to hit 1.3 . I think you will like 30 gauge better for PT head rebuilding , i tried 1.2 ohm coils for awhile but the MVP really shines closer to 2.0 ohms imo.

Thanks for the tips. Just disassembled the tank and went through the box that everything came in. Found what looks like a rubber nipple that goes over the coil. Swapped it out for a new coil that I purchased a while back. All of the coils have the rubber nipple over the wicks. I'm assuming that the lack of this rubber piece on my original coil is the reason for the issues?

Glad you figured it out , i have never had an I30 leak . Sucks you wasted all that juice though .

I don't see any difference mixing them either , if your coil is getting gunked that fast use all Rayon. If your Rayon is gunking up you got problems lol, i have yet to pull out a Rayon wick that didn't look like i just put it in there. Rayon just doesn't show wear and tear even after heavy vaping , it's incredible. Color is still bright white lol.
