@pufz i30 and other top coils don't use vacuum to work like bottom coils. That's why I use them. No leaks from pressure changes.

.02¢ :2c:
top coil not as much as bottom coil in %
partial vacuum vs perfect vacuum rated in %
they all work on a vacuum principle (unless open air eg: dripper)
just depends on the % value of vacuum required to maintain operation
I believe the top coil design is of lesser %, than bcc, due to the fact
it doesn’t have to over come gravity which a higher % of vacuum is needed
to not allow fluid to just stream out…
without at least a small vacuum % (tank not sealed) leaks will occur

JMO :)

Have you run across this?

A PBusardo Video - Wick Testing - Organic Cotton, Hemp, Japanese Cotton, & Rayon

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcZjaG9RPZ4

yes I did, thought is was pretty cool, (but)
wonder why , in the test, he ommited silica & 100% cotton yarn
the ‘other’ two that get a lot of run…
wondered how they would compare

using a mix of wicking material such as Cellu and Cotton, the difference will be noticed in an RDA; it's simple the mix holds more jooze for a longer Vaping session before re-dripping.

in a Tank,Clero, RBA the wick stays wet from pressure in the Tank so the extra holding power is not really needed.

....@jandry, your "coil" will eventually gunk after using for a period of time.....this is Normal.

I see some vendors do the 'box' trick

then if you want the box

they pass the extra shipping on to you/us

it's all a game (vendors & web shopping)

which needs to be played with great finesse

:matrix:

That doesn't fly with me , if i order something it better be sealed and brand new with all the paperwork .

Thanks.
It's not a big deal. I'm just a little OCD about stuff like that. Can't stand the feel of brushed metal.
The one I got I can live with. I just ordered the Drawbench version because I thought I'd like the feel better.
Have you touched them both? Do they feel any different?

If you have the real deal full blown OCD you know what you got to do , the fact that you didn't get the exact one you wanted will always bother you and the only remedy no matter how hard you try to live with the plain black is to get the one you originally wanted .

I know that's not what you want to hear but i'm a straight shooter and think it's best to tell it like it is . If a woman says does my a_ _ look big in these jeans , i look and if it's big, i say it most certainly does.

I have. It STILL gunks up bad even with 100% rayon/cellu! I am going to wrap a coil with gaps like Midnightoyl shared a pic of. Ill prolly bring my coil ohm load down to 1.5 (since I like a quick heatup and spacing the coil slows that process down, and lower ohms means more amps and thus faster heatup of the coil).

I didnt know coil-gunkage was from sweetness- I thought it was mostly the darker *juices* that gunked coils. Learn something new every day here thanks :D

It doesn't matter if your coil is spaced or compacted together , if your juice is noxious your getting gunked.

man i got a little story to share today, went to a local B&M this afternoon looking for some 18650's cause my mom was in a good mood and offered to buy me 2; so like a good son i said hell yea and off we went...anywho went inside and asked for some high drain imr's in 18650 for subbing and the owner tried to sell me Red E-Fest V1 batts, i said no way jose you gotta be kiddin me, gimmi some VTC5'S or some purp E-Fest 35a....she said i don't carry them and subbing with the Red's was fine......man what a dangerous person i thought,.....makes me wonder how many poor victims have fell for this so far and i sure hope no-body has been hurt.........she looked at me like i was crazy and as i was leaving i noticed someone behind the counter had 2 VTC5's in a charger on the floor...i just smiled to myself and booked out quickly and i will never return to that establishment......went to another and the lady was very knowledgeable on batts but still didn't have what i needed so i wound up w/2 18500 15a purp e-fest...got my 3D atty on my Nemi in short mode and it looks and hits darn good with a 1ohm single coil......just a diddy to tell, nothing else.

......@jandry, don't think the sweetness is all the prob but it sure will contribute to it.

now break out the MVP's and Vape on! :vapor:

I hear you Sando , i can't tell you the last time i visited a worthwhile vape shop , they either try to pass off clones as authentic's , even replacement coils or charge twice the price on items i could get online for far cheaper .

well it went 50/50, the second place i went is a good B&M, she even knew about the earth-quake at the Sony Plant and said it would be a couple of months before she would have the VTC5's......the sad part is it's about 20 miles away and the sorry@ss B&M is rite around the corner from me....Beware!

Not doubting your experience but i haven't noticed myself , with the Magma and Rayon , it last a long long time for me .
Actually longer than i would like it just seems to keep going and going before it starts to turn dry.lol , i am waiting for it to run out and drip another flavor .

Most of the time i only fill it up partially because of it.

Don't you order most of your stuff online? What kind of lifespan our you getting out of your batteries before needing replacement?

yep, that's a fact....just wanted to know where to go in a pinch and now i do.

(18650 2600mAh), depends on the build, all day with a 1ohm single coil, about 2 hrs with a 0.3 dual

been really gravitating back to the MVP alot more here in the last couple of wks, enjoying the Vape at higher ohms again!

How much does the vape shop charge for that battery. I meant the lifespan before you need to toss the battery out .

the Vape shop wants 12.95 for the VTC5's when she has them, about 3 bucks more than online but w/shipping unless it's free works out about the same maybe a buck or so higher.......4 of my VTC5's are comming up on 6 mos, still holding at 4.18 to 4.20....you suppose to dump them when you loose at least 7 points say 4.13 after fully charged; gone baby gone :vapor:

so what has got my interest – you ask
ok I’ll tell ya (since ya asked)
these new BVC mini’s – not the big BVC for the nautilus & naut mini,
but the ones coming out from Aspire for their old bdc replacement
bottom single vertical coil in a:
Aspire - CE5-S, CE5, MAXI, Nova, ET, ET-S etc. clearos
if they get the good pub that the other has, it sounds like a good thing…
- Aspire BVC Series Replaceable Coil 5 piece [8201V] - $10.00 : Aspire online shopping
wonder how it will be for re building… ? ?

BVC new little ones 3.jpg

Indeed, thats how I need to start wrapping my coils. Right now, there are literally no gaps so the coil gunks really fast. My juice is a light color like that, but as Sando7 points out its more about how sweet the juice is. I guess thats why VG gunks coils more than PG (on average)?

Whats in there is actually a NET.. They gunk wicks really fast.

It doesn't matter if your coil is spaced or compacted together , if your juice is noxious your getting gunked.

Does with NETs.. At least for me. The normal squeezed coil was hitting dry and burnt at less than 1/2 a tank. This open coil goes at least 2 tanks (Kayfun) before the wicking itself gives up.
