The OP's point is that they may ban the juice but not the hardware and gives examples of how they still sell bongs, as if the fact that they allow bongs to be sold, somehow translates into that they would 'logically' have to allow ecigs to be sold. That 'logic' doesn't happen with gov't.

My point was that they do ban hardware - grenades, machine guns. So there's no reason to believe that they wouldn't (if they wanted to) ban ecigs.

I might also point out that some bans are logical but that there is no pattern :)

Well right, but there is no reason that a person should have a live grenade or functioning machine gun in their possession. I understand that some people like to collect things, my friends dad has a tommy gun, but really- do you really neeed to collect dangerous high power common weapons?

I don't believe in gun control for normal guns since the criminals are always going to be able to get the guns even if the common people can't, but there really is certain things that a person doesn't need to have. If I need to protect myself, I am perfectly good to go with a plain old 38 revolver, the first gun that I was ever trained to shoot with.

You're missing the point. I'm not advocating anything with regards to guns, just that the gov't can and does ban anything it wants. The OP said it wouldn't be "logical" for them to ban ecigs and I said that logic has nothing to do with it. Gov't bans what it wants.

Right, I understand that. But pretty much so far, off of the top of my head, I can't think of anything that they have flat out banned that wasn't logical. Can you give me some examples of what you are talking about. Not trying to take a jab at you or anything, but I'm not sure what items you are talking about that weren't "logical", that's why I used the guns thing since that's still something that a lot of people complain about.

What I'm talking about is that the gov't at this point has the ability to ban anything. It's about power and control, not logic.

And to get into a discussion of other things just goes off topic .. but.. a few things off the top of my head is that they banned the old type of antifreeze, banned smoking in various places, banned effective pesticides - ddt, malathion (sp?), various drugs at one time - beta blockers that could have save 10s of thousands of lives, booze during prohibition, silencers on guns....

I mean the device itself shouldn't be banned , i haven't seen anyone trying to ban the volcano vaporizer or the i-inhale vaporizer. its b.s . I agree that maybe there should be a bit more research into the e-liquids containing nicotine but in no way, shape or form should the e-cig be banned for personal use or whatnot

No one here, as far as I know, is saying that they should....

Well if any of you stateside kids want a package of "childrens toys" or "personal gift" (don't pay customs on such things apparently) then we will happily ship them to you from Scotland or Ierland

However we draw the line at granades you will have to get them from Ulster.

What I dont get is why don't the tobacco companies don't just make the stuff. Lets face it so what if it goes pete tong and some people die and they get sued wont be the first time. By that time they will have made a sh*t load of money.

At least in the UK and Europe the governments are figuring that it could be a way of addressing the balence of payments

No offense for laughing at the grenade joke.

I totally believe in our rights to bear arms (and hopefully ammunition for them) and I follow your analogy.

yeah, and they let the ghostbusters operate with unlicensed proton accelerator packs on their backs for how long?

i will not back down if there is a ban. this is my life they are playing with, and no government will tell me to die rather than "cheat" them out of tax revenue. to them, i say do your worst! the harder they squeeze, the more support they have will slip through their fingers.
