I wouldn't risk my job over this.
Follow Amy's advice, go outside with the smokers and lay low for a while.
Cheers,
Walt

I see this totally different from most everyone else here..
They're all saying state of the economy, don't risk your job etc..
What I'm seeing is that you're working a union job in a union plant not a place with a no cause firing policy..so you're kinda protected..they have to have reason and good reason at that..
Theres no policy on it, HR hasn't decreed that it's against the rules, one foreman said it was ok, another on another shift said he didn't know about it..
Theres no combustion so you don't have to worry about open flames or even 100% spark containment areas....[/QUOTE]
Working in a competitor's mfg facility, thought I'd weigh in on a few issues.
Combustion - OSHA requirements for some areas may require electrical equipment to be Intrinsically Safe (IS) certified. For example, the paint dept where the potential for explosion for high. Use of any device without IS certification with even a low electrical charge in these areas is highly prohibited.
Contamination - I would think this would mainly apply to paint dept or where paint retouching is done, but may be a consideration in other areas as well. Even the type of deodorant or shampoo a worker uses can cause defects in paint applications. No telling what effects PG or VG might have as well. Chemical interaction must be taken into consideration.
Health - Sure we're not producing a cloud of toxic second-hand smoke, but I'm not sure how my vaping might effect my co-worker who has asthma. HR, especially in large companies, can not afford to take a chance on endangering the health of other workers, even indirectly. Can't really blame them I guess.
Personally, I'll be outside with the smokers showing off my new toy to those smokers amongest upper mgmt. Now if they start vaping and want to talk limited indoor vaping access with HR that would be great!
Honestly......
Just take more bathroom breaks and toilet stealth vape. Its just not worth the hassle in the end.

people see smoke and assume its smoke and it belongs outside. just go outside to avoid drama or sneak it wen ur partner is waching porno and not payin atention
Just wondering if you've explained to your boss about the different inhalation techniques for vaping as opposed to smoking? I know when I first started it took a little time to get the hang of vaping. My only co-worker is my boss. He and I both quit at the same time. Only thing, he went back to analogs and I took up vaping. He wants to quit again because he is hacking up a storm and feeling. I have him try my e-cigs now and then and even Snus, but it doesn't do it for him. He coughs on e-cigs worse than analogs.
My sensitivity is this: When I blow plumes of vaper, he gets cravings to smoke. When he smokes cigarettes, I crave cigarettes. So, he goes into the bathroom and smokes while I am at my desk vaping. I'm feeling a little funny about that.
A question for you. Do you work near any analog smokers that would be setting them off to want to smoke more often because you are vaping?
Not to be snarky or judgemental, but I wonder if some of the problem is those people that are complaining.
